  • For my coursework, IELTS was enough, and as far as other courses are considered GRE/GMAT with IELTS is a requirement. In order to complete the application process, you need SOP, CV, LOR, marksheets, and Transcripts.
  • The coursework that I had an opportunity to study was more relatable to the coursework and adapted accordingly to the new technology. Even though there are several research opportunities at UB, you can upskill yourself through internships where UB helps you find one via the Career fair (Happens once a year). A maximum of 3 classes was scheduled. Anywhere, 15 - 55 students in my class.

  • The course was a research-heavy course. The coursework required a lot of investigation and implementation. I would rate course load 4/5. Completely practical.
  • Mostly positive as the practical implementation of the course. Companies were actually using what was being taught. Negative was the distribution of practical courses. In a few semesters, a few heavy implementation-orientated courses clashed, taking a toll on the student's availability.
  • Per day there would be 2-3 classes. Average students were 70. There were 200 Indian students in my course.

Fees

  • I was charged $20000 per year. Most of it was a course fee. There were other charges like an annual fee, examination fee, and course fee. The fee was collected annually.
  • I didn't join the hostel and stayed outside along with my friends. There is an entire area where students live. Mostly houses are 4-bedroom apartments.
  • My monthly rent was $250 per person per month. Groceries cost around $50 per person per week. Bus passes were included in the fee structure. Purchasing cold winter clothes is mandatory, as Buffalo is very cold.

  • A Facebook page is the best way to find accommodation. There is one page called GISA where you will see house postings; usually students take houses near south campus (englewood st, heath st, merimac st) and there is a list of all the house owern number you can message them and ask about their property; you can get a decent house for $450/month.

  • The MS in Computer Science programme at UB was balanced and mainly involved practical learning because everything was learnt through implementation. The coursework was tough with subjects like Algorithms, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Intro to ML, etc.
  • I had 2 to 3 classes per day, usually scheduled between 8 AM and 8 PM, depending on the semester and course I selected. Each class had around 60+ students, and most of them were Indian only, which made it easier to feel involved and coordinated to work on projects, homework and assignments. Overall, the academic environment was challenging but truly helped me grow as a professional.

Fees

  • I would say it was approximately $40,000 for international students.
    • Student Activity Fee: $150 per semester (included in semester fee)
    • Technology Fee: $100 per semester (included in semester fee)
    • Health Insurance: $2,500 per year (included in semester fee)
    • Rent (Off-campus shared apartment): $400–$600
    • Utilities: $100–$150
    • Groceries & Food: $250–$350
    • Transportation: $50–$100 (included in semester fee)
    • Miscellaneous (phone bill, entertainment, personal items): $200–$300
    • Total Estimated Monthly Expenses: Approximately $1000ish
  • These figures are estimates based on my lifestyle choice I made and my housing option I took.

  • Difficulty level of the curriculum is very high. It is not easy to complete assignments within the deadline if you don't start working on them early. But assignments are more focused on learning a concept or industry-orientated implementation for the majority of courses. Usually for CS from 9:30 am to 5:00pm. But classes will be either 50 mins or 80 mins. AVG 200 students, with the majority are indians in the MS course.

Fees

  • Semester-wise, for Fall terms it will be around $15k, including everything. Insurance costs are $1k for Fall and $1.5k for spring terms. Consider tuition fees around $12.5k excluding insurance; the remainder is miscellaneous costs for other facilities of the university.
  • I spend around $1.2K monthly, but generally others are spending $700-$800, including rent and groceries.
  • Transportation is included in miscellaneous costs and will be provided by the university.

  • The course was average and not too difficult. It was mostly theory and a mix of both negative and positive feelings.
  • If you are looking for a more practical exposure to electrical engineering I would suggest going to a more better Uni but from a phd perspective I would recommend buffalo university.

Fees

  • For the entire course the fees come to 40000$ and it is charged semester wise.
  • Monthly I spend around 500$ including and rent and groceries. Transportation is covered by my apartment itself.
  • The rent of the house is 450 and the groceries comes to 50$ monthly. Sometimes I go to restaurant the amount comes to 550 if I go to expensive restaurants.

  • Difficulty: Pretty intense but manageable! A mix of theory (60%) and practical (40%). The first semester hits hard with core subjects, but you get used to it.
  • Positive Aspects include learning to manage your time, and the assignments and projects somehow help you to learn more about your subject.
  • Negative aspects: Again, due to more courses each semester, it is hard to manage other stuff like Internship/Job hunting, Part-time jobs if one has one, and personal life.

Fees

  • 3000-3500$ - For one course or three credits + Insurance (around 1k)
  • The fees are charged credit-based, you need to pay each semester.
