I applied to 9 universities Reject: 5 Accept: 4 Rejected at: University of California, Irvine University of California, Davis SUNY Stony Brook Texas Aand M university Boston university Accepted at: Florida State university Rutgers SUNY Buffalo, NY UT Dallas Yes, I received a rejection also. Most reasons were generic responses like 'too many applications', 'better candidates', and 'they want a more diverse crowd'. For me, the most important parameter was cost of living when compared to states like California and Florida. The next important criterion was that the course should be research-oriented and not a regular course like languages or database tutorials. That was the reason why I didn't apply for California State universities. Buffalo is quite cold and I didn't know about it as much as I should have known. My application process was quite straightforward. I had taken both GRE which I scored 1300/1600 on, and TOEFL which I scored 110/120. Then I collected all documents, including LoR, SoP, bank statements, mark sheets, degrees, etc. After that I filled out the form online and via DHL and applied to all the universities. I had applied early, which gave me an edge. I applied in August-September. By January I received the admission. I applied early and started researching in June and July. I had already started preparing for my exams and I had taken both the GRE and TOEFL. By August, the September admission process started and I started applying online. All fee payments were done via credit card and the average application fee was $80. Some universities had more expensive application fee like UC Davis and Irvine, which had around $120. By January I started receiving results both accepts and rejects. In February I received an admission acceptance from SUNY Buffalo. After that, I started all financial documents along with bank statements and proof of funds. The entire process took 6 months. The visa process took another 2 months. State University of New York at buffalo is accept Northeastern University is accept Arizona state university is accept Florida Atlantic university is reject University of South California – accept I had an opinion that Florida Atlantic university rejected because they might have already got a lot of students in the CS course. I chose UB for its strong master's in Computer Science program, affordable tuition fee, and the curriculum that's supporting me. The admission process was pretty simple; no GRE was required (it was just recommended to have). I had an IELTS score of 7 and met all eligibility criteria. Overall, the experience was smooth while applying and until I got into university. There were no challenges which I faced that I can recall. I applied for the Fall 2022 intake at the University at Buffalo for the MS in Computer Science programme. I chose UB because of its curriculum, research opportunities, and affordable tuition compared to other universities that I got admitted into. I submitted my application in early December 2021 and received my admission decision by the end of February 2022. The process was pretty smooth because at that time there was no GRE required at that time. I applied with an IELTS score of 7, which makes me eligible to apply for UB. I applied for the following universities: University at Buffalo - Admit MSCS (AI/ML track) Northeastern University, Boston – reject: MSCS admit: Software Engineering Texas A&M University, College Station – reject MSCS Arizona State University, Phoenix – reject: MSCS admit: Software Engineering Texas A&M was ambitious. Arizona State university care about undergrad college as well, although my GPA was excellent (9.41/10) and my friend was (7.5/10). He got an admit with a slightly better undergrad college but a similar profile. Also, early application matters at ASU. Northeastern cares about English proficiency, early application and GPA. My GPA was excellent but I was a bit late in applying. Additionally, my TOEFL was 92. My friend from the same undergrad college and course as mine got admitted with a very similar profile to me without the GRE. Because he applied early and his TOEFL was 102. I chose due to the excellent reputation of UB's CSE department, especially in AI/ML. Also, overall expenses will be less due to location. For the course track, a standout profile in some aspect with an excellent GPA will help but for the research track, you need at least one publication in a well-known journal; otherwise, they won't accept you in the research track. I am not sure about this year's process. But for Fall 2024 they required GRE for MS CS and TOEFL/IELTS. There are not official thresholds but GRE should be 310+ and TOEFL should be 90+. They care about the GRE more and the TOEFL is not that important if the profile is otherwise good. I applied to the Fall 2024 intake. I chose it because of the academic reputation of the CSE department, especially in the AI/ML branch. Overall ranking was good. Locality is not that good but still university itself is excellent, which makes it worth it for sure. Fees are affordable and UB has a very good alumni network, with many alumni working in top tech companies. So, I choose it. I applied to four universities for my master's degree, carefully selecting institutions based on their curriculum, research focus, and opportunities. I was fortunate to receive admission offers from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), the University at Buffalo (SUNY Buffalo), and Syracuse University. However, I received a rejection from Northeastern University (NEU). Reflecting on this decision, I believe the GRE score was likely the deciding factor, as it was the weakest aspect of my otherwise solid profile. 1. While considering all options I was mainly focused on costing , in that SUNY buffalo has lowest cost of education as well living cost amongst all i mentioned. Also course structure is also good. 2. I did application submitted all scores and required documents, then I got offer within a month or so and it asked for my acceptance along with some 150$ deposit, then when I paid that i got enrolled and asked me to submit finance documents to get i-20 and after that I received my i20 which i used for visa process. 3. I had 7 on ielts and 302 on GRE , minimum requirement for IELTS is 6.5 as of i'm aware and GRE was optional for me. 4. Overall experience was pretty smooth university gives you enough time to think and make a decision but once after admit need to complete some documentation like they ask for some medical test like TB and all so need to do that quickly. University of Cincinnati, buffalo, Dallas. I was rejected by Cincinnati and Dallas and accepted by buffalo. The reason I was rejected by Cincinnati and Dallas was because I applied to CS by mistake. Should have applied to electrical. Because I had done my undergrad in electrical and pursuing masters in computer science doesn’t make sense at all. Also the letters of recommendation were given by the electrical department The reason I chose this college over others was because of the balance between atmosphere and studies. The fees was comparatively less compared to other universities and the coursework got me involved. The accepted exams for this university are SAT, gmat , gre and ielts. I gave gre and Toefl. The minimum scores are 310 and 85 in fee and Toefl respectively. No challenges whatsoever in the admission experience and the whole process was very smooth and straightforward Fall 2023 and factors like timeline and other issues made me want to take this course. The admission process took 2-3 weeks. I applied during the month of 12 November 2022 and got admit on march 2023. Accepted the offer on august and came to buffalo in august 18th. Plus good ranking for the course. The admission process is quite simple, similar to any other US university. They don't ask for the GRE and IELTS official scores until you are accepted, so that's good, you save money there. The Minimum requirement for IELTS is, I think, 6.5, but 7 is recommended. For GRE, it's good to have 310+. (or good Quant score, as I had) Fall 2024 The admission process is almost around 5 months. August: Appeared in IELTS. September: Document preparation.
