Course Curriculum

10

  • The difficulty level of my course curriculum is much harder as you need to have knowledge of CSE course prior to understand the concepts. It is more practical based
  • Positive aspect is you get to learn a lot.
  • Negative aspect it demands lot of you time to complete the coursework.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to four universities for my master's degree, carefully selecting institutions based on their curriculum, research focus, and opportunities. I was fortunate to receive admission offers from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), the University at Buffalo (SUNY Buffalo), and Syracuse University. However, I received a rejection from Northeastern University (NEU). Reflecting on this decision, I believe the GRE score was likely the deciding factor, as it was the weakest aspect of my otherwise solid profile.

    1. While considering all options I was mainly focused on costing , in that SUNY buffalo has lowest cost of education as well living cost amongst all i mentioned. Also course structure is also good.
    2. I did application submitted all scores and required documents, then I got offer within a month or so and it asked for my acceptance along with some 150$ deposit, then when I paid that i got enrolled and asked me to submit finance documents to get i-20 and after that I received my i20 which i used for visa process.
    3. I had 7 on ielts and 302 on GRE , minimum requirement for IELTS is 6.5 as of i'm aware and GRE was optional for me.
    4. Overall experience was pretty smooth university gives you enough time to think and make a decision but once after admit need to complete some documentation like they ask for some medical test like TB and all so need to do that quickly.

  • I applied to Fall 2024 Intake, i have 2 yrs of working experience so i thought Masters as a good option and as i mentioned education cost here if affordable to me so I choose this university.

  • I applied in the last week of January 2024 I recieved admit around 12th February so like within 15 days of application, then I had deadline of a month to accept or reject it, after i accepted I got enrolled and they again asked for some documentation for I20 process which i submitted and i got I20 by april then i applied for VISA.

Class Schedule

10

  • Daily i have 2 classes scheduled, timing from 12-3pm
  • Almost 200 students in my class.
  • I would say almost 80% of 200 are indian.

Faculty

10

  • I would say 1:50 is the ratio and yes it does influence the interaction with faculty but i wont say it affects much education quality.
  • The teaching methodology is mostly practical they show most of the visualization on projector give in class quizzes.
  • Yes they do help but there are very limited of those jobs.
  • My professor for machine learning class i admire her most and she got great knowledge.

Campus Life

10

  • My college has 2 main campus one is north campus another is south campus.
  • Library, sport ground , medical services , accommodation from one campus to another campus is also provided by university.
  • We had a great welcome event hosted in university for new students also for christmas we have lots of events, there are club of Indian students who celebrate all indian festivals
  • Ub has good football and volleyball team as well as stadium is also good.

Part Time Jobs

  • About the job- 1.The number of students securing TA, RA, or DA positions varies based on the department, professor requirements, and competition within the program but very less students get.
2.The pay for TA/RA/DA positions typically ranges from $15 to $25 per hour, depending on the role and university policy.
3.Other on-campus jobs include library assistants, dining services, IT support, and administrative roles, with hourly wages ranging from $12 to $18.
4.Students are allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the semester.
5.Securing on-campus part-time jobs can be moderately challenging due to competition, requiring a proactive approach and networking.

  • Students typically earn between $12 to $18 per hour in their part-time jobs, depending on the role and university policies. Securing part-time employment can be moderately challenging due to competition and limited openings.

  • The usual process involves searching for job openings on university job boards, submitting applications or resumes, attending interviews, and completing any required documentation for employment.

Placement

6

  • 50% get the job after their degree is complete.
  • Average salary range it 90k-150k for an graduate student in a good reputed company.
  • Mostly through the network an then online application , visiting career fairs, job finding is bit of a tough job in this market
  • Placements are not much good as of now because of situation in US.
  • Amzaon, Tesla, AMD, Nvidia like companies.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I had one of friend already studying here.
  • I pay around $500 monthly rent.
  • I did not face much challenges as i already had some friends here but there are groups on whatsapp and facebook they help a lot in this search.
  • My accommodation is 5 minute walk from my campus, and from there i had to catch university shuttle which is free of cost service for students

Exams

  • GRE was option this time not sure about next term and IELTS was compulsoury , need to get atleast 6.5
  • Documents needed are 3 LOR's , a statement of purpose , then transcripts from current university, marksheets of your course, Degree certificate.
  • No i did not interviewed as part of my admission process. It not in the application process none of my friend gave interview.

Fees

  • Fees are almost $15000 every semester, and off campus living costs you around 600-700 per month.
  • Fees are charged per semester and we have pay that it either installment or full.
  • Monthly expense is around 650 in which rent is 500 and other groceries would need 60-70$, electricity , wifi, water, gas need another 50-60$ and transportation is all free to university

Scholarship

  • I did not receive any scholarship during my admission process.
  • However, I know of one friend who received a scholarship worth $20,000.
  • I’m not entirely sure how many students are awarded such scholarships, but from what I’ve observed, having substantial professional experience and a strong academic profile increases your chances of securing one.
