The M.Tech Structural Engineering program enrolls 37 students and is taught by experienced faculty members, although they may not be very approachable. The program's first semester is intensive, lasting around four months, and includes numerous assignments, presentations, reports, and micro projects for each subject. Assessment relies heavily on micro projects and presentations, with only one series test contributing 10 marks. Courses like Structural Dynamics and Theory of Elasticity are notably difficult.

Currently, there are no placements for structural engineering students, reflecting a broader trend of fewer placements for M.Tech students compared to B.Tech, particularly in civil engineering. In contrast, B.Tech students in Computer Science and Electrical and Electronics Engineering have better placement opportunities. For M.Tech admissions, students must pay 12,242 INR, which covers an admission fee (252 INR), tuition for one semester (6,615 INR), annual special fees (3,875 INR), and a caution deposit (1,500 INR).

Additionally, a PTA fund of 18,000 INR is required upon joining CET Thiruvananthapuram, although this amount may vary by college. Students from SC, ST, and OEC categories receive a refund of the 12,242 INR paid at allotment.
