Through my eyes.

I had to pay rs 210 for admission. Other than that I just had to pay for my exams which usually come below rs 100. In 4th yr 1st sem, internships are provided by the college itself. By the end of 5th year, campusing happens and jobs are offered to everyone.

Jadavpur is the cheapest college you can afford, with quality education, in the whole world probably. And you pay after 2 years, once paid during the admission procedure. And it's like only 2k or 2.5k. It's really cheap.

A glimpse of B.Arch in Jadavpur University

At Jadavpur University one gets to study almost free of cost. The only source of expenditure is the price of a laptop, papers, pens and other stationery one needs. There is no fee hike. All the ST/SC/OBC students get a scholarship of 3000 per month provided they have no supply in any semester.

The course syllabus follows a system of learning from historical examples instead of focusing on the upcoming technological advancements. More attention is given to hand-drafting sheets than using softwares for the same. Hence, the course syllabus feels a little outdated. Industrial exposure is provided only in the 4th year as a six-month long internship. Other than that, students in the architecture department do not even get placement opportunities. The faculty includes highly qualified members. All of them are literally storehouses of knowledge. Prof. Mainak Ghosh is definitely one of them.

In 1st sem, we had to work really hard. The facilities are very helpful. We had Structural Mechanics, Maths, Materials & Methods of Construction(MMC), Design Fundamentals in theory paper & in practical we had Architectural Graphics, MMC, Free hand drawing & Basic Design in 1st sem. In 1st year, we do the whole design thing without help of any software but later we have to learn softwares like AutoCAD, SketchUp etc. The size of the class is very small & often students without passion leave the course. To be successful in this field, one should have the passion & dedication.
