CSJMU M.Pharm FAQs
Ques. Is GPAT mandatory for admission to M.Pharm at CSJMU?
Ans. No, GPAT is not mandatory for admission to M.Pharm at CSJMU. The university admits students primarily on the basis of B.Pharm merit (percentage of marks) followed by an interview. However, GPAT-qualified candidates are given preference during the selection process. If you have a strong B.Pharm percentage (above 70-75%), you stand a good chance even without GPAT. That said, qualifying GPAT also makes you eligible for the AICTE stipend of Rs. 12,400 per month, which is a significant financial benefit during the 2-year programme.
Ques. Which M.Pharm specialization at CSJMU has the best placement prospects?
Ans. Based on student feedback and industry trends, Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology tend to have the strongest placement outcomes at CSJMU, with students being placed in formulation development and clinical research roles at companies like INTAS, Glenmark, Alembic, and Macleods. Pharmaceutical Chemistry is preferred by students aiming for research roles or PhD programmes. Pharmacognosy is a niche specialization with good scope in herbal/nutraceutical companies and research institutes. The department has MOUs with several pharma companies, which facilitates internships and placements across all specializations.
Ques. Can M.Pharm students at CSJMU do their dissertation at external research institutes?
Ans. Yes, this is one of the notable features of the M.Pharm programme at CSJMU. Students have the opportunity to complete their dissertation research at premier institutes such as CSIR-CDRI (Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow) and CSIR-NEIST, in addition to the university's own laboratories. This is facilitated through the department's research collaborations and MOUs. However, this is subject to availability of projects and faculty approval, and not all students may get external placements for their dissertation.
Ques. What is the fee refund policy if I withdraw from M.Pharm after admission?
Ans. CSJMU follows the UGC refund policy for fee refunds. If a student withdraws before the commencement of the academic session, the full fee (minus a processing charge of Rs. 1,000) is refunded. If withdrawal happens within 15 days of the start of the session, 80% of the fee is refunded. Between 16-30 days, 50% is refunded. After 30 days from the start of the session, no refund is applicable. Note that hostel and mess fees, once paid, are non-refundable as per CSJMU hostel rules.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation guaranteed for M.Pharm students at CSJMU?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at CSJMU is not guaranteed and is subject to availability. The university has six on-campus hostels (two for boys, four for girls) with a combined capacity of 1,114 seats, catering to all programmes on campus. M.Pharm students can apply for hostel accommodation through the Samarth portal (csjmu.samarth.edu.in). Room allotment is done by the wardens based on availability. Given the large number of students across all programmes, it is advisable to apply for hostel accommodation as early as possible after admission.
Ques. What is the scope of M.Pharm from CSJMU for government jobs and PhD admissions?
Ans. M.Pharm from CSJMU (a NAAC A++ and UGC Category-I university) is well-recognized for both government jobs and PhD admissions. Graduates are eligible to appear for UPSC/state PSC drug inspector posts, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) positions, and teaching positions in pharmacy colleges (as per PCI norms). For PhD admissions, CSJMU itself offers a PhD programme in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the M.Pharm degree from CSJMU is accepted at all major universities and research institutes across India. GPAT-qualified M.Pharm graduates also have an advantage in PhD admissions at CSIR labs and central universities.
