How is Mechanical Engineering at Sastra University?

One of my friends studied at SASTRA University. According to him, Mechanical engineering is pretty good when placements are considered. The overall academics and curriculum are average. The faculty are highly experienced but are very few in number. Students interested in Research are provided appropriate guidance and backup for it. Intra and Inter-departmental technical festivals also are conducted. Mechanical Engineering students have their labs dedicated to their department. Students take part in events conducted by SAE which make a real good addition to your resume. The college has vast area for first years the labs are available at different areas so difficult to maintain time.

In this college, for everyone has same fee structure. To get into this college there are 2 way. One by submitting the 12th marks alone or else 12th mark plus JEE mains marks. By this marks, you are allotted to different ranks according to your marks. The seats allotted according to ranks which have more types like Thanjavur rank, Trichy rank, tamilnadu rank, all india rank etc.. by these u are allotted and by NRI also u got allotted into college. For every seats the fee is 2.5lakh if ur a hosteller and for nri it is more.

Tution fee increase policy is there but that also not in per semester. Suppose you having 70k in 1st semester then next sem 73k like that much increase in fee is there but next year less than 2nd semester fee. The complete cost of education including tution, service fees and other charges is 800000. Students scholarship or financial help is there but for those students who lost their one of the parents. Campus placement training is also happening for good placement

Yeah the tuition fees increase by 5% per semester from the initial fee of 75,000, the complete fees required to complete the course with other expenses are about 10 lakh INR for 4 years approx, there are various scholarships in this college which help students to overcome the financial hurdles

Very Good choice for B.Tech

Fee Structure And Facilities:

Fee is 40000/semester in 2011. It was equal for all the students except the NRE quota. Apart from that they provide scholarships for top 2% in the department @16000 and 2-10% @8000 rupees. And also, if you pay the mess bills correctly on time, they provide cashbacks about 8000 rupees per semester.

Perfect College for Future references

I think the only University in India or may be in tamilnadu provides the scholarships based on merits every year. The scholarship in our university is called as deans merit scholarship which is around 16000 to 30000 based on academic performance with attendance. I think the payment of fees without penalty also matters for the Dean merit scholarship.

Suggestible university

When I studied 45000 per semester was the fee structure. The hostel rooms were 10k to 20k per year according to your selection. Every month around 3.5k was the mess fee. Apart from these, they provide scholarships every year based on attendance in class, hostel and performance. Various types of scholarships that include branch wise merit scholarships and hostel scholarships so on were given to top performers.

I haven't got any scholarship but those who secured over 85% was given the chance to avail scholarship. Its a great initiative by the management that helps the poor and studying student to come up in his life by supporting them financially.

If you belong to top 5% of the department you will be awarded with scholarship. I have no idea how much money they give since I never got a chance. Plus you maintain good attendance and your score high say 85% no hostel fees
