NEHU BTech IT Review.

Likes

Campus Size. This is a huge campus with a campus area of 1225 acres.
Labs are good. NEHU has almost all the labs required for a smooth academics.

Dislikes

Placements should have been better. although is improving.
You have to walk a lot if your class is far from your hostel.

Admission:

I chose this college over other colleges cuz it has the least fees amoung every other college. it is best for someone considering higher studies after bachelors. Also the weather and nature of this place is known to us all.

Nehu shillong Review For BTech in ECE department

Likes

The campus view, It's scenic , can experience the nature,
The events organised by the management is worthy,
Faculty are good , Professors somewhat helps in academics

Dislikes

Food inside the campus are expensive, Restaurant and other hotels
Sometimes Transportation problem inside the campus ,
Placements need to be improved , The placements are too average

I have applied to this. College because I wanted to pursue an Undergraduate degree, we can be admitted by giving jee examination for Btech course , Then go for the Josaa/Csab councelling. They conduct a separate councelling called Nehu councelling,

girls to boy ratio is around 60:40, Campus is fully socially interactive lot of free space are available inside the campus to roam around, Greenery is most attractive part of campus. Shillong campus of NEHU is known for its natural beauty.
Interaction with faculty and seniors are very friendly, Behaviors of non teaching and teaching staffs are really good. Students union is there to deal with any kind of problem academically or non academically.
Sports facility are well facilated inside campus. Almost every sports and playground is available such as football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, running track, archery ....etc. SAI ( sports authority of india ) is available inside the campus.

Dislikes

Lab equipments, infrastructure are too old and mostly non working.
too much distraction, shillong itself is garden of natural beauty so there is so many things to distract you from studies
faculties are not that well expirenced, you cant expect topics to be clear in class. Mostly professors are old and no new recruitment.

Admission:

I choose this college over other colleges for the following reason : 1. Vast and green campus, i love nature and greenery and this campus is very huge covering 1250 acre of land with vast area covered in forest 2. A very good interactive campus with good boy to girl ratio. Lots of other departments to gain insight from students of different domain and field. 3. I wanted to explore northeast and meghalay is called as scotland of east. 4. Very afforable for me as compare to other colleges. Admission to this institute is done in two ways, first one is by NEHU counselling and second is by JOSSa/CSAB counselling. Eligibility to apply you must be 12th passed you must appeared for JEE mains eaxm and you must have a valid JEE score cutoff for this college vary every year but safe score of JEE is around 80 percentile.

Is UCC good?

Likes

Very good atmosphere and also much cleaner than other States. The college is situated in rural area and its quite beautiful with all the lakes surrounding the college campus
Good social life. As people from different states and countries come it's quite a fun experience with each of us having different backgrounds,language and culture
Very active in programmes and very supportive attitude from staffs and teachers with these things

Dislikes

Requires basic needs like salon, tailor and internet connectivity. Online class is not possible in here
Increase in fees for mess with no basic sense of taste. Way too much for food they provide
Still need better teacher for each department and classes outside BA

Admission:

I first applied to MIT shillong where I got acceptance but the fee was high so I had to lower it. I also applied for st. Edmunds shillong where I actually thought of joining, unfortunately it was too late and lastly I had to choose over st Anthony and UCC. Where I choose ucc I didn't get a rejection in Edmunds but no response or reply. I could have gotten into st.Anothony and MIT but each of them didn't fit my profile. Ucc was the best option as it had very affordable fees than others There's no admission process. Acceptance over money. Although they do give u limitations to choose ur major upon ur percentage and marks. If too low you'll get rejected

I'd say that other colleges seems more fun as they have better facilities than us and have more co curricular activities Im not rejected in other colleges...i chose this college because it's more cheaper than others

What a guy a student said about St. Anthony’s college.

Likes

The things i liked about my college is that i met a lot of different people from different backgrounds. The students in the college are very talented. About the the college itself, i really love our campus. It is well structured.
The hygiene is properly maintained and there are ample amount of sitting space where students can sit and have talks and fun with there classmates and friends. There are three different canteens as well. Where you get good food with affordable price.
I also love the faculty of the college. The HOD of my department is really humble and very talented. He is a great teacher. In my department there is a proper music studio where we can jam and have a good amount of music instruments in good condition

Dislikes

One of the thing i dislike is the timings of the classes. For eg i have one class at 9’o clock then another class at 1.30. The time in between is really tiring because we don’t have anything specific to do.
There are not many extra events in the college as such rather than the college week which happens once a year. Students in my department really lack the opportunity for showcasing there talent.

Admission:

I did applied for the same course which is BA music in NMIMS. But i couldn't choose that college because of the affordability. I chose my college over that because of the affordability and also that it offers the same course which i desired to choose

ST ANTHONY’s COLLEGE SHILLONG

Likes

The college was full diverse with people coming from different states.
The faculty is quite cleaned and well organized.
College week was the best part of the college.

Dislikes

The professors were quite rude. If asked something you will be questioned as dumb.
The teaching style was not good. They would teach in their local language most of the time.
The time table was quite hectic as the classes started from 8:00 AM and ended in 4:30 PM and having only 30 mins break the whole day.

Admission:

I chose this college as its just 100 KM but the other one was too far. Plus was expensive too as I come from a middle class family. And the course in the other college had a rule that you can't just pursue music and you have to take 3 degrees all together. So if you take BA. MUSIC you have to take BA. PSYCHOLOGY and BA. ENGLISH too. So I didn't went there and applied here in St. Anthony’s College.

I liked the environment of the Campus as it was surrounded with nature so it was quite peaceful and a perfect place to focus on studies.

Dislikes

Their was a lack of facilities in the department as it was a Journalism and Mass Communication department a studio is a must to learn but their was none.
Lack of placement services and guidance as in how to proceed in a career

Admission:

I didn't really apply for other colleges as such as I only wanted to go to Shillong so after CUET I only applied for this university and got selected and it was also a Central University and also it was under my budget so I opt for this University.

No, Nehu was my first choice and the admission process is very smooth. To apply for B.A, you must complete your 12th and have the passing certificate along with other documents , like your 10th mark sheets and idenficaions documents.

Journey of my college life

Likes

According to my view of point the facilities is good
Teacher's and classmates are really frank
The method of teaching is good as in mid range

Dislikes

The food and tea in canteen was very costly
There are some of the teachers that are rude whild teachings
Books mostly we had to buy from outside and sometimes we dont even get the book that we need

Admission:

I have applied in certain colleges like Raid laban college l, Sankerdev College and Synod College but the college that i got confirmed was Synod College. In other colleges i did not get rejected but because the seats are full. Admission process starts by paying the admission fees then selecting a course you want then the shift like do we want to go for the morning shift or day shift, for which i chose B.A. as my course and i went for morning shift as the admission fees was little less than the day shift
