Ques. What is the difference between BA Japanese and BA (Hons.) Japanese at TMV?
Ans. The BA Japanese is a 3-year programme. The BA (Hons.) Japanese is a 4-year programme where the 4th year (Honours) covers advanced topics like Teaching Methodology, Geography of Japan, General Linguistics, Research Methodology, and On-Job Training. The Honours year is available only to students who complete Year 3 with a minimum CGPA of 7.5.
Ques. Can I opt for the Honours year after completing the 3-year BA Japanese?
Ans. Yes. If you complete the 3-year BA Japanese with a minimum CGPA of 7.5, you are eligible to opt for the 4th year Honours programme. The fee for the Honours year is Rs. 96,000.
Ques. What additional subjects are covered in the Honours year?
Ans. The Honours year (Semesters VII and VIII) covers Teaching Methodology (I and II), Geography of Japan, General Linguistics, Research Methodology, On-Job Training, and electives in Translation or Academic Writing (Semester VII) and Japanese Arts or Japanese Politics (Semester VIII). Indian Knowledge System (IKS) is also included as a generic subject.
