Shivaji University in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, has introduced a new research-oriented multidisciplinary course. The admission process is based on a 50-50 weightage of HSC board marks and entrance exam results, with student selection conducted through a merit list. The course is limited to 60 students, allowing for personalized attention from highly qualified faculty, most of whom hold Ph.D. degrees. The program is semi-government funded, with fees ranging between 27,000 to 38,000 INR for bachelor's to master's courses, making it affordable for middle-class families.
Scholarships are available to ease the financial burden, including the Central Sector Scholarship of approximately 10,000 INR annually and an additional 10,000 INR scholarship for university toppers. Students have access to placement opportunities in chemical companies and research institutes, as well as internships and fellowships like Erasmus Mundus and summer fellowships, which enhance practical skills and career prospects.
