Ajara Mahavidyalaya was established in the year 1982. The college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur It is aggregated with 12B and 2F by UGC since 1989. The college offers Bachelor and Master Programmes in the area of Arts, Science, Commerce and Computer Applications

• The college started with B.Com, B.A (1983), B.Sc. (1993), B.A. English (1988), M.C.V.C. (1993), Y.C.M.O.U. (1995) and Rural Journalism (2002)
• The college also offers Vocational Subjects at 10+2 level since 1993
• The college is recognized for Distance Education Centre under Shivaji University, Kolhapur
• The campus consist an area of 5 acres with 28 Classroom

Extra- Curricular:

• NSS- NSS, brings students to volunteer under officials for the motto, “not me but you”. The officials of NSS guide the students through various activities in which the students perform with zeal. Activities like Voting Awareness rally,  Blood Donation Camp etc are organized by NCC
• NCC- The college registered E-3 COY Senior Army Wing of N.C.C. in 1984. The regular parades are conducted in the college ground for such activities as Drill,Map-reading, Judging distance, Weapon training, etc. Three NCC Cadets particulars in the National Level "Army attachment Camp" held at Ahmadnagar from 1st to 15th Dec 2012
• Every year players of Physical department actively participate in University level, State level, Inter- Zonal and Zonal tournaments. In 2010-11 college won 6 Bronz Medals and 2 Gold &1 Silver Medal at Zonal and Inter-Zonal level respectively
• The college also facilitate Gymkhana to the students
• There is also Magazine Publication in the college for students to express their ideas, thoughts and feelings
