Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants seeking admission to 4 year Full-time B.Tech Program should meet the following criteria as specified by the institute.

Academic Requirement:

Pass in Plus Two Examination of the State of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects securing a separate minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination.
SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for the qualifying examination.

Research driven syllabus as per guidelines of IIT Madras, some department like ShipTech,Safety and fire have very good placement.
Placements are good in software field as many companies come to hire aspirants for their software and networking skill but great lack of job opportunities in core branch like mechanical, civil and electrical engineering.

Dislikes

Few keralite students get scholarship from college as home quota but for northy there is no scholarship provided by college.few teacher and HODs are very helpful.they pay the fees of few students.who r from very poor background.

Faculties are good enough. They really help alot. Facilities of all the labs are available here except one or two laboratory.
Overall we all want placement from any colleges and here the placement is much much better. Many companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, L & t, Mahindra etc come here for placement.

Dislikes

Location of this college is not as per your expectations. In rainy season, colleges are off because there is a lot of water surroundings in your hostel, colleges. Sometimes you have to vacate you hostel.
Only one famous shop is available m.c stores where you get edible items if you want to go restaurants, theatre, then either you take bus or you have to go through your own bike.

Course Curriculum Overview:

B tech in Civil engineering from this college is really a better decision, because you get a better understanding and get help from all the faculties. U have to select a extra subject for the studies from semester 5 that really connects you to the present scenario. The major area of improvements is that laboratory, and also need of some more professors. Timing of the examination based on the examination is much better. No need of improvement in this field. If u go for exam then you must follow previous year's paper. Many questions come from previous year.

The ambience of the college is very nice and refreshing ..There is a quite amount of programs to engage myself
The library is very helpful as they have a lot of books and peaceful environment to read.

Dislikes

The overall infrastructure of the college is quite bad and needs improvement. Getting some developments done can help attain more admissions as well.
The cleanliness of the classroom is quite poor .. they're so dusty.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always liked buildings and their constructional aspects ,so I chose this course. The subjects that included in this field influenced me. The curriculum has fair theoretical side more than practical side and I doubt how much it'd be effective for the real world applications but I believe I can do better later. The curriculum should include more practical areas and teaching methods should follow that method as well for a better future. Exams have had considerable amount of days in between for preparation ..it had helped me adjust the difficulties

The college has a great infrastructure and amenities including library, gym,basketball court,shuttle court etc
Campus life is amazing. There are no restrictions in enjoyment or something like that

Dislikes

First thing i disliked are the some of the faculties are very rude.
The next thing i disliked is the structure of buildings for each courses. The block for engineering is far from the amenities like gym, sport area etc

Course Curriculum Overview:

Our curriculum provide best subject and laboratories. The exam dates are bit conjusted( the dates would be close). There are some subjects which are unwanted for the branch that we are studying which are common to all branches. The difficulty level of examinations are moderate

The campus is really eco-friendly and green

As the campus is really big we have to walk a really long distance even to meet a particular faculty
The campus buildings of the engineering department is not as good as other departments

The curriculum is a bit hard but it prepares you for real world applications. In a semester we have 2 labs . Everything that we learn in the class is performed in the laboratories too .Thus it increases our practical knowledge. We have 1 semester exam and 2 internal exams

Course Curriculum Overview:

Initially, after the entrance exam was can opt for Cucek campus of cusat or Soe campus of cusat. I opted for civil engineering at soe because I wanted to explore university life as soe is present at the headquarters of cusat itself. Apart from fire and safety, mechanical, marine engineering, and ship technology departments, all other branches have a good boy-to-girl ratio. Coming to teaching faculties there will be at least 7 faculties teaching different subjects with staff coordinators for each class. Almost all the teachers an academically excellent and have Ph.D. in their field. It's not about spoon-feeding, you can squeeze whatever you need to learn from the resource of the teachers. Also, they are very supportive of extracurricular activities too. The examinations are conducted timely in every semester and the syllabus is a little harder compared to other universities. But you can pass every exam if you work well on your academic side.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like to construct and design new buildings so I selected civil engineering. The faculty is very good and helpful. The students to teachers' ratio is 1:30, I think so. The faculty has a master of technology graduation in Civil Engineering. The exam is for 6 months.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum and syllabus is entirely different for CUSAT when compared to KTU. The course curriculum is moderately designed and just got revised in 2019. The college has good concern for academics and conducts 2 internal exams and an ende sem exam in each semester for bith theiry and practical papers. Apart from these assignment tests and vivas are also conducted. The college has a very promising circle of faculties. All are well qualified and conduct classes with full dedication. Most of the teachers also prepare power point presentations in addition to lectures and are shown in the class.

Faculty: The faculties in Civil Engineering are quite experienced and provide quality learning.

CUSAT is a university that had colleges under it in the past. Now it only has colleges or schools to be exact. Which are under the main university campus.

Following are the various schools affiliated with CUSAT University.

SOE: It stands for School of Engineering and deals with UG engineering courses.
Old SOE: It deals with Grad and Ph.D. courses. It also comprises various departments for MCA.
SLS: It stands for School of Legal Studies and deals with the law courses.
SMS: It stands for School of Management Studies and deals with business-related courses.
Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering: It deals with marine engineering courses.

The above-mentioned schools constitute the main campus. This is not the entire CUSAT, there is another campus for the university.

Lakeside Campus:

The Lakeside campus is around 12 km from the main campus. It is set in Cochin city on the estuarine waterfront.
It consists of the School of Ocean Science and Technology, School of Industrial Fisheries, Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Department of Chemical Oceanography, Department of Marine Biology, Microbiology and Biochemistry, Department of Marine Geology and Geophysics, and Department of Physical Oceanography.

Out of the two branches, Civil Engineering from CUSAT is the better choice. The following reasons will justify the choice.

The median package offered by the branch is INR 4.5 LPA.
The branch has a cut-off of 2313, i.e., quality people get admitted.

The Civil Department has excellent and experienced faculty. They provide quality learning to their students.

The campus is vast, spread across 180 acres. You can enjoy life with academics.

There are extra-curricular and practical learning opportunities throughout the years.

The curriculum followed by CUSAT is quite decent and well-framed. It is considered to be more rigid than other universities. But it is not very difficult to grasp if you put in hard work.
