Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for Entrance Examination and JRF candidates

Only those candidates shall be considered for admission to the Ph.D. Programme who have:

a) Obtained M.Tech./M.E. degree in the area related to Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing/ Production Engineering with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.

b) Master's degree in the areas related to Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Information Technology, Material Science, and Physics with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.

A candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program in the area related to Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing/ Production Engineering should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.

Eligibility criteria for GATE candidates (as per current ADF guidelines)

a) Obtained M.Tech./M.E. degree in the area related to Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Information Technology, and Software Engineering.

b) The candidate must have secured a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5 on the scale of 10 (or minimum 70 % marks) or equivalent at both B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. in the areas mentioned in the point (a) above.

c) The candidate should have qualified GATE during the last 5 years.

d) The candidate should be less than 30 years of age as of the date of admission to the respective university. However, an age relaxation of 5 years would apply to candidates from SC/ST, women, and physically challenged categories.

Relaxation to SC/ST/Physically Challenged candidates as per ADF guidelines.

GATE admissions to SoE and JNU for ADF scholarships are subject to notification from AICTE.

Ph.D. (Through NET-JRF) – 4 seats

Ph.D. (Through Entrance Exam) – 4 seats

For Ph.D Foreign Nationals:

(i) Tuition Fee:

@ US $2097 per semester for courses in science disciplines;
@ US $1398 per semester for courses in humanities and social sciences;

(ii) Incidental charges: @ US $ 279 per semester will be charged from both the above categories
