IGNOU CMAD FAQs

Ques. Is CMAD a recognised certificate? Will it be accepted by employers?

Ans. Yes, CMAD is a certificate programme offered by IGNOU, which is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament. The certificate is recognised by all member institutions of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and is valid for employment and further studies. However, since it is a short-term certificate (not a degree), employers typically consider it as a supplementary qualification alongside your main degree.

Ques. Do I need to attend classes physically for CMAD?

Ans. CMAD is an ODL (Open Distance Learning) programme, so there are no regular classes. However, practical counselling sessions for the lab course (BCSL-091) are mandatory and are conducted at your allotted study centre. Theory counselling sessions are optional but recommended. Practical sessions are typically held on weekends or evenings to accommodate working students.

Ques. Is Java programming knowledge mandatory to join CMAD?

Ans. Java knowledge is recommended but not strictly mandatory as per the eligibility criteria. The programme itself covers Python and Android development. However, since Android development involves Java/Kotlin concepts, having a basic understanding of Java will help you grasp the course content more easily.

Ques. Can I get the study material in printed form for CMAD?

Ans. No. IGNOU does not provide printed study material for CMAD. All course material (e-books, assignments, etc.) must be downloaded from eGyanKosh (egyankosh.ac.in) free of charge. Students need a device with internet access to download and study the material.

Ques. What happens if I fail in the Term-End Examination (TEE)?

Ans. If you fail in any course of CMAD, you can re-appear in the next TEE (June or December) by filling the exam form again and paying the examination fee. IGNOU allows students up to 2 years (maximum duration) to complete the CMAD programme, so you have multiple attempts within this period.

Ques. Can I complete CMAD while working full-time?

Ans. Yes, CMAD is specifically designed for working professionals. Since there are no regular classes and study material is available online, you can study at your own pace. The only mandatory physical attendance is for practical counselling sessions (BCSL-091), which are usually scheduled on weekends or evenings. Many working professionals successfully complete this programme alongside their jobs.

How to change IGNOU subject/course/medium?

Dev Anand

how to change subject/course/medium at IGNOU:

IGNOU allows changes in certain circumstances:

  • Subject change: possible within the first 30 days of admission for the current session. visit your regional center or apply through ignou.ac.in ? student zone ? program change/subject change
  • Program/course change: if you want to switch to a completely different program (e.g., BA to BCA), you generally cannot transfer — you must re-apply for the new program fresh. some provisions exist within the same school/faculty
  • Medium change: can typically be changed with a written request to your regional study center

the annual window for changes is narrow — usually the first month of each admission cycle (Jan or July). after the window, changes are not generally accepted. visit ignou.ac.in ? student support or your nearest IGNOU regional center. bring your enrollment ID and relevant documents. call your regional center to confirm the current process as IGNOU procedures can vary slightly by center.
