NERIST Entrance Examination (NEE) 2020 is a state-level test for admissions into Technology courses, held in three phases: NEE 1, NEE 2, and NEE 3. The application fee was INR 600 for SC/ST/PwD candidates and INR 1000 for General/OBC candidates. Applicants needed to have completed class 10 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The college features experienced faculty with PhDs, providing a 1:10 faculty-student ratio for personalized attention. Courses integrate practical guidance with theory, evaluated through two exams per semester: mid-semester (30%) and end-semester (50%), with the rest from quizzes and assignments.
Practical courses allocate 25% of the grade to practicals. Tuition is affordable, approximately 50,000 to 60,000 INR for twelve semesters, significantly less than private colleges. However, the placement rate is under 10%, affected by location and economic factors. The highest salary package is around 9.72 LPA, with an average of 6 LPA. Companies like Vedanta and Tata Consultancy Services offer packages near 8 LPA, but opportunities are limited, especially for Electronics and Communication students, with only 2 to 5 securing positions.
Internships are available post-6th semester but usually lack stipends. Some students receive high offers between 15-20 LPA. The annual fee is approximately 15,980 INR to 21,990 INR for day scholars and about 34,890 INR for hostellers, including mess fees. Hostel and mess costs add to the course fees, totaling approximately 50,000 INR, with additional hostel expenses around 120,000 INR. Scholarships are available for merit and reserved categories, like the Pragati scholarship offering 50,000 INR annually to eligible female students.
However, no specific scholarships exist for general category boys, and campus jobs are scarce.
