NERIST is an MHRD-funded autonomous technical institute located in Nirluji, Arunachal Pradesh. It provides admission to B.Tech, B.Sc, M.Sc, M.Tech, MBA, and Ph.D programs. The admissions are conducted based on the performance in the entrance examinations, followed by a counseling round. NEE Entrance Exams are conducted for admission to certificate and UG programmes, including B.Tech, B.Tech (Lateral), and B.Sc (Forestry), and technology certificate courses. NERIST entrance exams are conducted offline at 16 different centres across the North Eastern States.

For B.Tech admissions, JEE Main and NEE-II scores are accepted, followed by NERIST counseling. The closing JEE Main ranks through All India Quota for B.Tech CSE were 55764 in 2024. Students need to write the NEPGET Entrance exam for admission to PG programs as well. GATE scores are also considered for M.Tech and M.Sc programs. Further, students are admitted to the MBA program based on their CAT/MAT/XAT/ CMAT, followed by a Group discussion and a personal interview. The average fee for the 1st year B.Tech program is INR 13,750 - INR 23,000, whereas the fee for the 1st year M.Tech Program is INR 22,960 - INR 54,460

NERIST B.Tech Admission 2025

NERIST offers B.Tech programs across six disciplines of Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. B.Tech (Lateral) Courses can be pursued by students who have passed a 3-year diploma with a valid score in NEE-III.

NERIST JEE Main Cutoff 2025

NERIST JEE Main Cutoff 2025 has been released. For B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering, the closing rank in Round 1 of 2025 is 46,694, and in Round 2, it is 48,388. For B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering, the closing rank is 51,838 in Round 1 and 71,680 in Round 2.

NERIST B.Tech Eligibility & Selection Criteria

Candidates should have secured at least 75% marks in aggregate in the 10+2 level examination in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects.
For B.Tech Lateral Entry, candidates who have appeared/passed a 3-year Diploma in a relevant field from a government-recognized polytechnic institute with a minimum aggregate of 60% will be eligible.
Applicants must not be less than 23 years of age for the General Category, 26 Years for OBC & Female, and 28 years for ST/SC/PD.
For B.Tech Lateral Entry, applicants need to be more than 30 years (General)/ 33 years (OBC and Female)/ 35 years (ST/SC/PD).
For B.Tech admissions, students need to appear for the JEE Main or NEE-II entrance examination.
For B.Tech (lateral), the candidates should qualify for NEE-III.
Students are selected based on their JEE Main scores, and seats are allotted through JoSAA/CSAB/NERIST Counseling.

NERIST B.Sc (Forestry) Admission 2025

NERIST offers a 4-year-long B.Sc program in Forestry at INR 29,240. The admission procedure, cutoff, and selection criteria are explained below.

Candidates must have passed the 10+2 Level from a science stream with a relevant background from a recognized board. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology should be included.
Selection is based on academic merit and performance in the NEE-II examination, followed by counseling.

NERIST M.Tech Admission 2025

NERIST provides M.Tech admission at the postgraduate level in six disciplines. The admission procedure, eligibility, and selection criteria are explained below.

M.Tech applicants must have a B.Tech or equivalent degree with 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA.
SC/ST/PWD Category students are allowed an exemption of 5% in the aggregate score of the qualifying exam.
Students will have to appear for GATE or NEPGET (NERITST PG entrance test) followed by NERIST Counseling.

NERIST MBA Admission 2025

NERIST application process, eligibility, and selection process for MBA Admissions in 2025 are described below:

Eligibility Criteria: Students must have a Bachelor’s degree in any relevant discipline with 55% Marks in aggregate
Selection of candidates is considered based on the CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT score and Group Discussions, followed by a Personal Interview.
Please note that weightage for the Written test and Group Discussion/ Personal Interview will be 75% and 25%, respectively.
Candidates who have not appeared for any of the MBA entrance exams will have to appear for the NERIST admission entrance test.

NERIST M.Sc Admission 2025

NERIST offers a 2-year-long M.Sc program in Forestry, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at INR 36,720. The admission procedure, cutoff, and selection criteria are explained below.

For M.Sc in Forestry, candidates must have a B.Sc degree in Forestry with at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA.
For M.Sc in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics must have a B.Sc degree in the relevant field with 55% Marks in aggregate.
Students are required to appear for the NERIST written examination, followed by a counseling round, to be selected for the program.

NERIST Ph.D Admission 2025

NERIST provides Ph.D programs across different specializations like Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Forestry, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Humanities & Social Sciences, and the Centre for Management Studies. The eligibility and selection criteria are explained below:

Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Engineering or any relevant program with a minimum of 60% Marks / equivalent 6.5 CPI or 55% marks in aggregate in Sciences/ Humanities and Social Sciences/Management for the General category are eligible to apply.
Students must clear the NERIST entrance examination, followed by an interview round.

Ques. What is the admission procedure for B.Tech admissions at NERIST in 2025?

Ans. For admission to NERIST B.Tech programs in 2025, students must have a minimum of 75% in the 10+2 level examination with PCM as compulsory subjects. Selections are based on the performance in NEE-II or JEE Main examination, followed by a counseling round.

Ques. Does NERIST offer scholarships to students?

Ans. NERIST offers the following scholarships to students during admissions:

GATE Scholarship: Students with a master’s degree and a valid GATE score enrolling for M.Tech programs at NERIST are eligible for this scholarship. A cash scholarship of INR 12,400 per month under the GATE scholarship is given to students.
Ph.D scholars at NERIST are eligible to get a stipend/scholarship benefit of INR 28,000 per month upon selection.
Students who are pursuing a diploma or bachelor’s degree at NERIST can apply for the studentship. A reward of INR 800 per month is provided as a benefit of studentship.

Ques. How can one get admission to NERIST?

Ans. For admission to NERIST, Students need to qualify for the entrance exam like NEE, JEE Main for B.Tech programs, whereas GATE or NEPGET exam is required for PG admissions. Further, students can apply online on the official website by paying an application fee. Counseling rounds are conducted for final selection and seat allotment of students.

Ques. What are NEE-I & NEE-II?

Ans. The NEE-I & NEE-II exams are a single-question paper examination of 150 marks each. Students appearing for the NEE-I exam are eligible for the Base (Certificate) Module of the Technology Stream. The NEE-II (PCM) exam has to be taken by B.Tech applicants, and the NEE-II (PCB) for Forestry applicants.

I choose NERIST over other colleges because of its fee structure which Is very low. I gave my entrance exam for NERIST when I was in class 10, if I was not selected then my plan B was to attend class 11 in PCM and after my 12 exams I would have tried for JEE and try to get into any engineering college.

Life at NERIST

Admission:

As i have taken admissions right after my 10th , i didn't consider choosing any other college. When i look back i think that i made a good decision because i got the exposure to my discipline i.e. ECE right in my 12th equivalent. The exams to enter nerist are of different types. For engineering courses there are three entry exam. NEE 1 after 10th, NEE 2 after 12th and NEE 3 after diploma. One can enter nerist after 12 th with JEE as well. For other courses like forestry, management separate exams are conducted.

SMALL BUT BENEFICIAL

Admission:

As you know this is a deemed to university and directly controlled by the government of India. Here you will get a lot of opportunities to indulge you both academically and is you have any personal interest like sports and all. I had applied to some college but I among them this is the best. I had failed jee by a percentile of 3 so yah for that I had chosen this on else I would be in an nit or IIT. But this is very good university and I had learning a lot from here. Their are several methods of admission here. Firstly you can give NEE- Nerist entrance exam which is conducted in 3 patterns- 1. NEE-I For those who have passed class 10 and can come there to get a diploma in ME,AE,ECE and EE. 2. NEE-II for those who have completed class 12 as well as diploma or 10+2 equivalent. 3. NEE-III For those who completed diploma of 3 years in any specific field like polytechnic. Or else you can have admission through your jee marks. Cutoff for the NEE is quite good and yah the question pattern is however same if you compare to jee but yah somehow easy it is.

I joined NERIST thought CSABNEUT. I could have got other college too because my mark was quite good for ST category. I scored 75 percentile in JEE exam. But NERIST was my first perference. I chose NERIST as my first perferenec because it is one of the best college in North East and as i am from north east it was the best option for me. NEE counselling is done offline which is inconvenient for many people but once you get selected to this college admissions process is not difficult. The faculties memebers are always ready to help and solves our confusion Admissions is done though ERP online After the payment of admission is done, we download the recipt and submite to the academic office
