Eligibility Criteria
Aspirants seeking admission to 4 year Full-time B.Tech Program should meet the following criteria as specified by the institute.
Academic Requirement:
Candidate must have passed class 12th or equivalent by the AIU or Intermediate or 2-year Pre-University exam conducted by a recognized Board/ University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects with 75% marks (65% marks for reserved category).
Entrance Exam:
Candidates must qualify for JEE Mains.

- For, students having family income between 1lakh to 5lakh per annum (Tuition fee is one-third of Tuition fees i.e. Rs. 20,833)

- First thing that I liked there is the club culture which provides high level guidance and enhances the opportunities
- The college has the top notch labs with world class facilities.

- The climate of the region is very unpleasant.
Fees and Financial Aid:
The fee structure is relatively affordable as per the engineering college fees trend is concerned, but we also have fee waiver system based on the reservation criteria, family income criteria. Later we are also provided by many scholarships based on our performance in the semester exams.
Likes
- It's lush green campus of 645 acres which includes sports facilities of all kinds.
- Here, anti-ragging is a real policy. Even if someone found to be involved in ragging then he/she will get a semester back or 3 gradebacks depending upon the degree of damage.
Dislikes
- The weather of Rourkela is pretty extreme so health should be maintained all the time.
- Rourkela doesn't have its own airport which affects the incoming opportunities for placement season.
Fees and Financial Aid:
For the first semester, it would take approx RS.124000 which would include admission fees, one-time fees, etc. Then for the following semesters, it would take Rs. 99000 per semester and for the last semester, it would take Rs. 102000 approx. Note that this fee includes hostel facilities, mess facilities, and medical fees. Taking a hostel is compulsory here. If your household income is less than 5lpa then you will get a 33.33%(1/3) discount on the tuition fee (which is included in the above amounts) and if your household income is less than 1lpa or if you belong to the category of sc/st/ph then you will get a 100% discount on tuition fees.
Likes
- I liked almost everything that NITR had to offer. Everything but the food. I liked the huge, peaceful campus. The diverse group of friends I made. The amazing fests. The hackathons. The club culture.
- Seniors are very helpful, they'll help you with any and everything you need. Just be respectful and bam, now you have good seniors.
Dislikes
- The food in general lacked spice. I lost around 16 kgs in the first sem only.
- The grading was very hard for some reason. Getting a good CG is actually hard and requires consistent efforts.
Fees and Financial Aid:
The admission fee, including the 1st year fee was about 1 lakh. 2nd sem onwards the fee was around 90k. Tution fee is around 60k. Fee waiver is available based on the income level of the students family (income certificate is required). Fee hike is not that much high and generally seen in the mess fee section. You get a lot of state and central scholarships here and for financial assistance, you can get SBI scholar loan very easily from the bank in the campus.

- Some syllabus Pattern should change for betterment of college and students growths.
- Government should provide some extra facilities for poor students.

Course is affordable for middle class students but not for poor students.But there is advantage of taking less interest loan to pay all college fee along with hostel. There are many scholarship available for students but we don't know about college scholarships

The following is an outline of how NIT Rourkela calculates its fees: The annual tuition fees come to 1,30,000, and Hostel fees are 70,000 per annum. Students of NIT Rourkela have access to a variety of financial resources, including campus jobs, scholarships, and assistance programs. In addition, the institute encourages its students to engage in activities related to entrepreneurship.

For one lakh below income the fee is 35000 per sem and have complete tution fee reimbursement and for above five lakhs income 97500 including tution fee of 62500 and for above one lakh and below 5 lakh income is 2 third of tution fee + 35000, FFE and Alumni scholarships are provided.

BTech in Industrial Design is the only cool subject offered at NIT Rourkela. The course curriculum dealt with Mechanical Engineering and the basics of Electronics. In addition, you have to study one design-oriented subject every semester. You will also have the advantage of dealing with other informative courses, which include Art and aesthetics, Product design, and Ergonomics. This course also allows the students to take part in their projects and research.
