MIT-WPU: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 17 Reviews

The Mechanical Engineering program at MIT World Peace University features a straightforward admission process, primarily based on JEE Mains and board scores, with a general requirement of around 60% in board exams. The faculty is knowledgeable, with a mix of experienced professors, though teaching styles vary. The curriculum follows the National Education Policy, and the faculty-to-student ratio ranges from 50:1 to 60:1. Fees for the program are seen as high, with general category tuition at Rs.

92,485 and potential costs reaching up to Rs. 3 lakhs annually for certain programs. Additional costs include exam fees and backlog expenses. The placement program is robust, involving over 5,000 companies, with approximately 70-80% of students securing jobs. However, Mechanical Engineering placements are less promising compared to CS, IT, and E&TC departments. The highest salary package offered was 52 LPA, while common packages range from 3-5 LPA. Students become eligible for placements in their third year and are encouraged toward entrepreneurship with startup funding options available.

Scholarships are offered based on academic performance, with significant benefits for high JEE or MHT CET scores, and can cover up to 100% of tuition fees. Additional scholarships are available based on state and caste criteria, and students can also access education loans. Fee payment is expected in two installments, and the cost may vary for management quota admissions.

MIT-WPU: 1 Answered Question

Which is the best for mechanical engineering, VIIT in Pune, VIT in Pune, or MIT Pune?

Nikhil Srivastavlived in Pune, Maharashtra, India

Among these, VIT Pune is the best option for Mechanical Engineering.

  • VIT Pune Mechanical branch is more than 20 years old. So, it had better exposure. This helps in better industry recognition, tie-ups.
  • VIT offers better placements for the Mechanical branch. It offers more core placements compared to VIIT and MIT. According to the VIT Pune Mechanical Engineering placements of the last few years, the average CTC for the branch is 5-6 LPA. VIIT shares campus placement with VIT. But few companies visiting the placement drive don’t allow VIIT students to sit for placement.

VIT, VIIT, and MIT three of these colleges are autonomous, and they update their curriculum regularly. So, you can expect similar academics from all three of these institutes.

There is some quota for the admission for students with caste benefits. Those students need to submit required documents to the management for verification purpose.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The tuition fees for this year for mechanical is 3.15 lakhs. If you add caution fees, admission fees, development fees and other charges it goes to around an additional 20-30k. If you're going through management quota then out here it's like the better inside contact you have, the lesser will be the amount you have to pay. I know guys who've gotten admission in ECE by paying 3-4 lakhs in management and I also know guys who've paid 14-15 lakhs to get in ECE so it's mostly contact driven. For SC/ST caste it's somewhere around a lakh for a year. If you score well in your jee mains or cet they offer you scolarships based on merit only for the first year. If you get a 95+ you're given a 50% off, if you get around 90-95, it's a 40%, 85-90 is a 30%, 80-85 is a 20% and the last which is a 10% off you get when you have around 75-80. However these scolarships last only for the first semester fees and only if you score above an 8 gpa does the scholarship move forward to the next sem.

I personally never took advantage of scholarships but there are a few available. You get scholarships if you are a topper in class that's all I know. The fee structure is divided into 2 parts of instalments with a 90-day gap.

There are two instalments allowed. One before the commencement date and the other before 90 days of the commencement date. There are very high chances of getting a scholarship and they are based on jee mains or MHT CET scores accordingly.
