If you opt for a dual degree in Mathematics, you have a higher probability of becoming a mathematician or a professor. But, in case you pursue Mechanical Engineering from NIT Surat, then you bear higher chances of securing a placement offer at top-tier MNCs. Your choice should always remain ahead of most others. The one piece of advice is that in NIT Surat, you supposedly cannot change your degree from M.Sc to B.Tech following the 1st year and vice versa. You should research the same for BITS Goa and find whether or not the rule is similarly applicable in the institute. This is the basic difference you can find between both institutes.

M.Sc at BITS Goa can be specialized following the first year, during which you will be allocated a B.E course depending upon your CGPA. With a 6 CGPA, you can get Mechanical Engineering, which is quite an easy job. In contrast, it is better than ICE. However, if your scores are high enough then you might get a seat in CSE. By the end of 5 years, you will be receiving a B.E and an M.Sc degree, which is nonetheless a smarter choice. However, the fees at BITS Goa are quite a lot.

Not sure about the increase policy but I guess it's like 5% each year. Complete cost of education is about 35-40 lacs. There are various scholarships. Some are Merit Scholarships and Merit-cum-need Scholarships.

BITS Goa - One of India’s Premier Institutes

There is a fee hike every year. It is usually around 10-15% of the tuition fee. Cost varies from batch to batch. New students (2023) could have a semester fee as high as 275000 per semester. There are two types of scholarships - MCN and Merit. MCN is a merit cum need and can be availed by students who are not from financially able families. Merit scholarships are purely based on merit. There are different slabs of scholarship percentages based on a student's CGPA. One can get on-campus jobs/internships by applying for on-campus drives. The stipend varies from company to company.

Fees are definitely an issue at BITS. Moreover, each year, fee hikes by 10%. Currently, fees are around 265k (fees+hostel+mess etc.]. There is two scholarship that is given to students, the first being the "Merit Scholarship"-to students with 9.5+CGPA, and the "Merit cum Needs Scholarship"-to students whose parental income is less than 11 lac/year.

Flexibility around courses

There is a constant fee hike over the last 5 years of about 12% per annum. scholarships are based on Merit and Merit cum need basis. One needs to apply each semester for the same. Job Opportunities are great though.

Review

There is merit scholarship available which can be claimed by top three percent students on campus. They get full fee waiver. Other then that college is linked up with sbi and students can get loan at lower interest then other loans.
