How to Pay the Tuition Fee of the University of Stirling for Indian Students?

University of Stirling allows international students to pay tuition fees through online payments, bank transfers, instalment plans, and international payment systems. International students can pay fees in full before enrolment or spread payments across instalments after enrolment.

Indian students commonly use the following payment methods:

  • Flywire (Recommended for Indian students): Supports payments from 240+ countries and 150+ currencies, including INR payments. Students can pay using bank transfer, cards, UPI-linked banking methods, and other local payment options while tracking payments in real time.
  • Credit or debit cards: The university accepts most major cards for tuition deposits and tuition payments. American Express is not accepted.
  • International bank transfer (SWIFT): Students can transfer tuition directly from Indian banks such as HDFC, ICICI, SBI, or Axis Bank.
  • Education loan disbursement: Many Indian students pay directly through sanctioned education loans.

Important: International students usually need to pay their tuition deposit before receiving CAS documents for visa processing, so payment timelines matter.

The university also offers instalment plans for international students. For most September and January PG intakes, remaining tuition fees can be divided into four instalments paid every two months after enrolment, reducing upfront financial pressure.

Key takeaway: Most Indian students combine tuition deposits, instalments, education loans, scholarships, and Flywire payments to manage costs efficiently while avoiding delays in enrolment and visa processing.

Students can take help from the video mentioned above, which provides a guide on the international tuition fee payment process at the University of Stirling, through Flywire.

  • Forex card and timing: Lock GBP via HDFC, ICICI, or Axis forex cards in batches across the academic year to hedge against INR depreciation.
  • Use free campus shuttle: The campus shuttle bus is free for enrolled students, saving £20 to £40/month vs city bus passes.

  • It was a mix of both. There were enough practical elements like Site Visit, Work Based Learning etc which impressed me thoroughly.
  • The course was not easy at all. It demanded serious commitment, regular study and research ability.
  • The practical elements were the most positive aspects of my course, as they made me more industry-ready.
  • There were a few too many assignments within a very short period, which seemed slightly negative to me initially.
  • We had classes 4 days a week from 10:45. So 3-4 classes each day and they were an hour long usually.
  • We had 35-40 students. We had 4-5 Indian students in my course.

Fees

  • My tuition fee was £12000 approx. I took private accommodation in a shared flat and it cost me £265 a month, including electricity and wifi. I also received a £3000 scholarship, which brought my course fee down to £9000.
  • There were multiple payment options and the University was really flexible. I could’ve paid it semester-wise or monthly too but I opted for a one-off payment of the whole tuition fee.
  • My rent was £265 including electricity and wifi.
  • My food and grocery cost was approx £150-£200.
  • I bought a bus card for my travel between the City Centre and the University and it cost me around £36 for a month – for unlimited travel on the route mentioned. For entertainment, I used to spend £100 monthly during my initial days, which included occasional visits to movies and dining out at MacD, KFC, Greggs or Costa. Restaurants were quite costly as compared to India. A decent three-course meal would easily cost £20-£30.

  • The academics were a mix of both theory and practical, we used to have small groups of classes called seminars, which were more interactive and had a better learning pattern and then we had a lecture which had all the students from the batch; I can’t even count how many. The first 2 years are easy; I mean, not so difficult.
  • positive is seminars and the ones I didn’t like were lectures. The professors were really welcoming and understood our concerns. Negative was how to navigate the classroom.
  • So for each semester the classes and timings change – but they go from 9am to 7pm.
  • and it depends on each student’s schedules. 1 semester I had classes only on mondays and the rest of the week I had only two others. Their durations are generally 1-2 hrs for undergrads, as far as I have experienced; my friends also had 3-4 hr long sessions.
  • Seminars average no. Of students, there were 15-20; lectures maybe 200-300 (really don’t know)
  • I think there were about 15-20 Indian students that I know of (maybe more)

Fees

  • Total tution fee was: £15,900 p.a.
  • Accommodation fee was £9,600 p.a.
  • Food and miscellaneous: £12,000 p.a.
  • The fees can be paid monthly, yearly, or semester-wise. Mine was monthly auto-debit.
  • My monthly expenses were around £2000-£2500.
  • Which included parties, rent (£800), and transportation from train, transportation from bus is free until you are 22 so that was good. Then most of my expenses were for takeout out food ordersders,

  • The course I had taken was comparatively easier than the other courses, saying that it was not all that easy we had a diverse range of subjects, a lot of theoretical approach but also practical approach, hence we had to focus on both of these approaches and we had a compulsory paper on placement, in which we had to get a practical experience and also write down about the experience, we also had to do a dissertation/ research paper.
  • Positive aspect about the course was it was well divided and not too pressurising.
  • Negative aspect was there could have been a paper that dealt with different kinds of therapy which was missing.

Fees

  • 1. Total fees was 18,000 pounds- 4000pounds scholarship, Accommodation 8000 pounds/-
    2. The fees was taken semester wise.
    3. Monthly expenses came up to at least 100 pounds per month including shopping, transportation.
    4. As Indian nationals, we had to show at least Rs 21,000 in our bank account.
  • All Indians get a 4000 pounds scholarship.
  • The collection of fees was very smoothly done, we had the option of either paying it all together or semester wise, so there was not particular hassle in it.

I'm studying MSc International Cooperation and Conflict ( humanities), where there's an educational trip included in the course as a module, which is voluntary to choose from. In that module, we were taken to Geneva and arrangements like accommodation, places to visit and visas were arranged by the university. Every year the university plans this for students and improves our experience on the field to network. Many other courses have similar excursions. For my subject, we were taken to local and global events around along with an international trip to Geneva Switzerland to visit credible organization like the UN, WTO and ICRC.

The course syllabus is quite updated and not just specific to western curriculum. During the course the focus is on teaching the principles but not specific ideas. It's student's duty to bring those specific ideas into classroom and link it to the principles that were taught. Apart from your major you can also pick other courses to support your masters. Since, I was in a covid batch industrial experience was limited but we were given opportunities to apply and/or intern at various places during our course period.

Fees

The tuition fees is revised every year. For my course 2021-2022 it was £16,000 and after the scholarship of £4,000 was awarded, it was down to £12,000. Apart from that there was other financial aid that was provided to me by the university.
