Dislikes
- It’s really hard for me to find out negatives about the University of Stirling as I call the experience as a Paradigm Shift in my life.
- The distance from City Centre and all popular shops like Tesco, Waitrose, Aldi, LiDL is more
Campus Life
- The University of Stirling has 1 campus and it is called the Stirling Campus.
- Library, GO, Swimming Pool, Gym, Study Zone, Cafe, Theatre, Food Court, Co Op for grocery, Playground, Student Union, Indoor Sport etc.
- Graduation Ceremony and Welcome Week are the main campus ceremonies. You can also enjoy Christmas and Holi on campus.
- There are multiple sport clubs and you can find all about them from the Student Union.
- University of Stirling is the best sports University in the UK and therefore there are many sports activities taking place throughout out the year like Basket Ball, Football, Swimming, Running etc.
- There are movie nights, book reading evenings, etc.
Accommodation
- We took a huge risk by not booking any prior accommodation. After reaching Stirling, we started collecting information from locals and eventually we found an Indian restaurant – where the owner offered us the shared living I previously mentioned.
- But it is highly suggested to book accommodation beforehand through trusted online platforms. The university does support finding accommodations too.
- £265 for shared living – one bedroom, shared kitchen and dining and shared bathroom. It included electricity and wifi.
- Accommodations in the UK are in high demand. You can find many articles on accommodation shortages across the UK. Therefore, you might struggle if you don’t book early. The issue I faced was that I was not getting a decent value-for-money place. Places were either not decent or too high-priced.
- Try and search Rent A Home or Gumtree. Speak to current students. Speak with the University, search for facebook groups.
- My accommodation was in the city centre, which was a 10 min bus ride.
- Most Indians stay in the city centre as opposed to the University campus. City centres provide more job opportunities, which influence the decision heavily.

Likes
- So many options for societies and activities
- Mental health support services
- Freebies every now and then through events and how welcoming the university is for freshers.
Dislikes
- It’s really hard to find the classrooms, because there is no specific order and it’s all over the place.
- The uni is not in a very high profile city, it’s on the outskirts, so all the exposure you get is only from the campus.
- Hard to get flat on campus after 2nd year.
Campus Life
- My uni had 1 campus but it was a big one.
- We had library, WiFi, sports facilities, medical services, activities, cafes and bars, chairs and tables for students everywhere, grocery store, rden/park, che chemical labs, computer labs, free food corner, group study tables, cinema hall, mental health support, career support, etc.
- Major campus festivals could be Christmas, Halloween, Chinese new year, Holi and any fun activities, freshers' week and graduation parties. Each society has their own big event.
- Societies and sports were the biggest extracurriculars; we had all kinds of sports: swimming, football, basketball, badminton, tennis and gym and everything. We had 100s of societies and I was part of south Asian society, the true crime society, and the international society. I was mainly a committee member and had fun organising events like the Diwali party and others.
Accommodation
- My accommodation was off campus; I found it through online platforms and with the help of the SIUK agency, it was really hard to get one at a normal price.
- My monthly rent was £800 including bills and mine was an en-suite room; it was 2 BHK. It was built like student accommodation and in the next year I found a flat with my friends that cost me £400 with bills; it was a 4 BHK. So it really depends on how you pick your flat. First year you have to invest anyhow.
- Just finding a flat is very exhausting and can be draining, especially in a remote city like stirling plus with the price increasing, it was really hard.
- I’d say on-campus experience is important but can’t go out of the budget and get a flat because I went broke a lot of times in the middle of the month because my rent was a lot, which caused me to compromise on other things like food, etc. First year can be rocky but from second year you have to get a cheaper flat because you barely stay there and paying £800 for just sleeping in the room doesn’t make sense.
- Most of the Indian students were in the same accommodation as me and it was 10-15 mins away from the university.

- The campus
- The facilities provided in the campus
- The faculty were very helpful and supportive.
Dislikes
- There could have been more classes in a day.
- There could have been a better placement prospective.
- Some more activities to network with other people.
Campus Life
- This college has only one campus and it is in Stirling, Scotland, close to the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh and one of the main cities of Scotland, Glasgow.
- Facilities provided in the campus were: Library, Sports club membership, Medical, Accommodation, Grocery shopping, cafeteria.
- Major festivals are celebrated including Indian festivals, and of course on Christmas there is a K-pop club for people interested in K pop, there is a reading club, Choir, Dance, Creative Writing, Freshers day, Graduation Day and many more.
- There is a massive Sports building where there are facilities for many sports like swimming (one of the major sports played), badminton court, tennis court, yoga hall to name a few, they have many events every now and then.
Accommodation
- I stayed in the University accommodation, so I found it on the University website.
- It was 8000 per annum, hence 666 pounds per month. Facilities included were laundry, wifi, a lounge area with a Television, and sofa, Kitchen with 8 electric stove tops. The rooms came with an attached bathroom, a bed and a study table, with an added bonus, a great view from the room.
- There was honestly no challenges that I encountered, finding the accommodation was an easy process as everything was available on the University website.
- The accommodation was in the university itself so it was a 2 minute walk to the main campus.

Dislikes
- There's more focus required for the career aspects. However, one has to be very active and independent otherwise it will be hard to grasp opportunities. This struggle should be made a bit easier by the careers team.
Campus Life
The campus is great, it has a lake, a gym and theatre to relax which mostly campuses don't. It's serene and popular events are less by students union like welcome week, marathon etc.
Accommodation
It depends on the costs, the cheapest accommodations are also nice and have free laundry. The expensive ones may vary with security and facility upgrades. The rental cost for accommodation start with 480 pounds to 800 pounds per month ( depending on your preference)

- I was attracted by the enormous sports facilities and Stirling is world's 3rd largest University for Sports.
- The Sports Facilty is the major attraction. Atfterall the University is known for Sports. Then The Campus is also very eco friendly and quiet. It is great place for people who like Nature
Dislikes
- I was not Happy with Medical Services. It is difficult if you get sick. NHS is not very much accessable. Also there is aspects of racism among students, which is not addressed properly.
Campus Life
Sports facilities are very Nice. People playing sports have a great opportunity
Accommodation
I paid 400 GBP per month. It was a decent facility. University facilities have shared and private options. I have rented a room in private household. You can expect around 500 gbp for accomodation .

- Firstly, finances. Scotland is a great place to study on a budget in comparison to its other UK counter parts. My options were between Germany, Dublin and Scotland but due to COVID-19 restrictions my plans did not go as planned. For me Scotland was an easy pick because of its cost of living, education fees and the hub of Climate Change Conference - Glasgow. UoS secondly was quite transparent in its admission process, providing me with adequate guidelines & support. I had read about the professors beforehand and was intrigued to learn from them. Moreover, Scotland is quite famous of its rich libraries and heritage. A part of which was stored at UoS. So, it makes every researcher's dream place come true. The university provides ample of learning, mental & physical well-being resources to the students. I wanted my experience to be a blend of different communities and learning about cultures. At UoS you can find community spaces, friends and professors who could be your home away from home. Upholding this notion the university provides a healthy and inclusive environment for all with no space for any harshness, unkindness or harassment at any level.
- Libraries and Health & Well Being Unit showcasing that the university really cared about its students holistic development and growth. Student led advocacy units where every student if represented and it's ensured that students understand the importance of unions and participate in union activities too!
Dislikes
- I guess that too much was happening at the same time, which I believe for freshers can be overwhelming or confusing. The early few months of navigating the college space and finding your niche is often difficult.
Campus Life
The university was founded in 1967 officially and is located on the edge of Stirling city. The university is situated on the site of the historic Airthrey estate which includes the Robert Adam-designed 18th century Airthrey Castle. So yes, you can see that castle as well and take long evening strolls in the university across the lake. UoS ideally is a sports university so you can expect a lot of sports activities all year round. If you just want to play among your peers or might want to make new friends who play the sport that you like, then the university also has a concept of booking slots for playing. You can either come with a group or alone just to play with strangers. I remember making so many friends during my badminton games. But if sports aren't your thing and you're into gym fitness then there's 2-level gym for students along with Zumba, Cardio, Boxing classes being conducted regularly. Apart from that there are over 50+ clubs in the university providing extracurricular activities such as dance, boxing, cheerleading, reader's club, drama & theatre etc. WiFi is always available on the campus from gyms, cafeteria, hostel rooms, libraries, study zones inside of the library and seating/studying zones out of the library too. The university had its own grocery, cafe, pizza and pub place for students to really enjoy themselves. The university also provides a 2-3 level library which is accessible to all students. And during exam period they are fully functional with separate studying room. I actually remember pulling off all-nighters in the 3-floor study area and going back to my dorm room at 4 in the morning. Lastly, there's medical chamber inside the campus. So, for any of your requirements for MH, Physical health is taken seriously and with great care. There are coaches, therapists and counselors to always help and guide students apart from the academics. There's a lot of things that happen at UoS and sometimes it might feel like overwhelming or confusing. But I feel once you're able to catch hold of it, it's a great experience.
Accommodation
There are multiple types of accommodation available as per your needs from cheap housing on campus or off campus. I feel its best to apply for on-campus housing during your study and then later you can always shift out to the city. You can opt for single rooms as well. Majorly its single occupancy but the options are limited and might be costly. The cheaper ones usually get booked early. Otherwise, the accommodation is quite good in terms of cleanliness, space and furnishings. You get a fully functional kitchen, room and bathroom. Please note bathrooms and washrooms are always sharing and not personal. You can also avail for financial aid on housing.

- I wanted to pursue higher education in my field only and this university's program was inclined to my needs.
- Overall experience was good, as the library, sports facilities and the campus. Our campus had ample space to either get fresh or study hard. Various cultural societies and job fairs were organized.
Dislikes
- Mainly the early classes, and also they can enhance there job portal and the job process. They can provide internships so that it can help the students for international exposure.
Campus Life
The campus is great, with different amenities like WiFi, a plethora of books (physical and digital), sports facilities and there was also mental health awareness.
Accommodation
The accommodation was from the university, It was 2km from the university and had all the basic amenities with ensuite rooms. It was around GBP 560 per month

- The night life with friends you get a chance to hang out with friends and celebrate party
- The game facilities provided by the university including video games AR ,and pool games and ground games
Dislikes
- Students miss lot of internship opportunities
- Subjects are too hard to pass and maybe you have to re work your assignments
- Class time table are not properly organized so there is chaos
Campus Life
The campus life is perfect and the exposure students get is good. There is a library block with different subjects and journals necessary for the course curriculum. There is also a sports management team in the university to oversee the inspection of ground maintenance. There is a round-the-clock medical service clinic on campus and you can get the service of a psychologist if needed. There is a freshers fest for new students and there is a student club to help international students with their admission queries. There is a university coop run by students.
Accommodation
At first, I was new to the country and didn't know anyone there so I decided to stay at the university accommodation that is Pendreich Way. But it is expensive because it is near to the university. There is also off-campus accommodation but the rent is the same. Then I met some friends and decided to move from the hostel. Then I shifted to an apartment in Glasgow around 1 hr travel by vehicle which is comparatively cheap than university accommodation. At Pendreich Way it is 440 pounds per month and you have to spend around 150 pounds plus for food but you can share expenses with your friends. The criteria for off-campus accommodation is first come first serve. you must book for off-campus accommodation as soon as you get admission. In university accommodation, there is a kitchen, 4 rooms bathroom and shower room.

- I wanted to come to a developed country like UK for witnessing their sport industry. Stirling offered a course which was economical in terms of Tuition fees and the town geographically is beautiful as well.
Campus Life
Excellent in all aspects, I was playing for a recreational football team during the time as well.
Accommodation
Accommodation on the University was good, and it was not in Sharing. Safe and sound with a lot of international students residing. It was expensive than living inside the city with the average costs being 700 pounds on campus and 350-400 pounds per month approx in the city.
