The University of East London (UEL) advises GBP 1,300 (INR 1.65 Lakhs) to GBP 1,800 (INR 2.28 Lakhs) per month for accommodation, food, travel, bills and personal spending. Docklands Student Village offers university-managed, on-campus housing, meaning accommodation located on the academic campus. Its 267-night 2026/27 contracts range from GBP 6,942 (INR 8.81 Lakhs) for a West standard room to GBP 9,078 (INR 11.52 Lakhs) for an East studio, with utilities and Wi-Fi included.

Postgraduate Fees: January 2027

All ten postgraduate rows use the one-year, full-time route and accept January 2027 entry. Master of Science (MSc) identifies the main postgraduate award in the table. Tuition is charged for the academic year, and optional placement versions are excluded from the full-course figure.

• The MBA placement route adds a second-year placement fee of GBP 3,500 (INR 4.44 Lakhs); the one-year MBA row does not include it.
• Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering Management and Project Management with Digital Technology also offer placement routes with the same GBP 3,500 (INR 4.44 Lakhs) second-year charge.
• Public Health MSc requires a health-related bachelor’s degree and International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.5 overall, so these conditions should be cleared before committing funds.
• The deposit is not a uniform course charge. The offer letter gives the total needed for CAS issuance.

The five January-entry undergraduate routes use the 2026/27 international rate of GBP 16,020 (INR 20.33 Lakhs) per year. Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) identify the award; Honours (Hons) is part of UEL’s official title.

• Computer Science and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence require relevant mathematical or computing preparation; the latter lists Mathematics, Computer Science or another relevant subject among its accepted routes.
• Marketing lists IELTS 5.5 for the standard degree, while programme-specific English conditions can differ across the five awards.
• UEL also displays optional placement and foundation routes on several course pages. Their longer duration is not included in the three-year calculation.
• The annual tuition rate excludes personal devices, books, printing, optional visits and transport, although UEL operates a free intersite bus between its campuses.

The comparable full-time international undergraduate category rose from GBP 15,560 (INR 19.75 Lakhs) in 2025/26 to GBP 16,020 (INR 20.33 Lakhs) in 2026/27, a 2.96% increase.

Both INR values use the current reference rate, isolating the local-currency tuition change rather than mixing in historical exchange-rate movement.

• Docklands Student Village is on the Docklands academic campus and houses more than 1,100 students in East and West Halls.
• The 267-night academic-year contract costs GBP 6,942 (INR 8.81 Lakhs) to GBP 9,078 (INR 11.52 Lakhs), depending on room type.
• The 353-night academic-year-and-summer contract costs GBP 10,590 (INR 13.44 Lakhs) to GBP 12,002 (INR 15.23 Lakhs) for the published East standard and studio endpoints.
• On-campus rent includes gas, electricity, water, Wi-Fi and maintenance. Private housing is off-campus housing arranged outside UEL, and the university does not publish a current comparable private-rent range.
• The 2026/27 accommodation guarantee deadline was 1 June 2026, so January 2027 applicants should treat halls as subject to availability rather than guaranteed.

For applications made from 30 November 2026, the London maintenance requirement becomes GBP 1,570 (INR 1.99 Lakhs) per month for up to nine months, or GBP 14,130 (INR 17.93 Lakhs). Total Cost of Studying at the University of East London

The MBA worked example produces a true first academic year budget of GBP 36,434 (INR 46.24 Lakhs) to GBP 42,434 (INR 53.86 Lakhs). • Tuition covers the one-year MBA and does not include the optional placement-year fee.
• The GBP 1,500 (INR 1.90 Lakhs) initial pre-CAS payment is part of tuition, so it is not added again.
• The IHS is paid upfront for the visa’s full duration. The table shows one year only because the final charge depends on the CAS course dates and visa length.
• The total excludes airfare, tuberculosis testing, books, a laptop, private-housing deposits and any IHS amount above the one-year comparison.

University of East London Scholarships for Indian Students

UEL’s broadest current support is an automatic first-year award of GBP 500 (INR 63,460) to GBP 5,000 (INR 6.35 Lakhs) for eligible self-funded international students. External fully funded routes are aimed at September 2027 entry, but their 2027/28 application rounds are already closed.

Do not subtract a competitive or pending award from the base budget. The UEL award amount appears in the offer letter after automatic assessment, while Chevening and Commonwealth have separate selection processes.

University of East London Tuition Deposit and Payment Options

UEL does not publish one standard deposit for every course. The offer letter states the full amount and structure. A payment of GBP 1,500 (INR 1.90 Lakhs) starts pre-CAS checks, but a further offer-specific payment is required before CAS issuance and enrolment.

Payment Schedule: January 2027

• Meet the academic and English-language conditions in the offer.
• Pay the offer-letter deposit through Flywire by 9 December 2026. The deposit counts toward tuition and is not an extra fee.
• Complete the pre-CAS interview by 16 December 2026 and submit the required financial, tuberculosis and immigration documents by UEL’s applicable deadline.
• After the deposit and pre-CAS checks, UEL can issue the CAS by the route-specific deadline.
• Pay in full or set up the instalment plan by enrolment. The plan starts with at least 20% of tuition, followed by four equal monthly card payments, with the balance cleared within ten weeks of the course start.

Hidden Costs of Studying at the University of East London

The largest fixed pre-arrival charge outside tuition is immigration. A Student Visa application from outside the United Kingdom costs GBP 558 (INR 70,821), while the student IHS rate is GBP 776 (INR 98,490) per year and is charged upfront for the full visa duration.

The partial subtotal excludes the rest of the course-specific CAS deposit, any IHS amount beyond one year, tuberculosis testing, airfare, housing advance payments, foreign-exchange charges, laptops, books and programme-specific materials. These omissions prevent the subtotal from being treated as the full cash requirement.

• For Student Visa applications made from 30 November 2026, the London maintenance evidence is GBP 14,130 (INR 17.93 Lakhs) for nine months, plus unpaid first-year tuition shown on the CAS.
• Programme pages state that personal devices, books, printing, optional visits and external events can sit outside tuition, but UEL does not publish one reliable amount for every student.
• Private housing deposits and separate utility bills remain variable and are excluded from the known partial subtotal.

Fee Saving Strategies for Indian Students at UEL

UEL’s published 5% early-payment discount can reduce the one-year MBA fee by GBP 975 (INR 1.24 Lakhs). That gives GBP 18,525 (INR 23.51 Lakhs) when calculated on the published tuition without another fee waiver and when every offer condition is met.

• Complete the course application before 27 November 2026 so UEL can assess the automatic international scholarship before the January 2027 payment sequence begins.
• Compare the automatic scholarship with the early-payment discount and any Global Campus award. UEL’s terms do not allow the Global Campus discount to stack with another scholarship.
• Choose the one-year route only after comparing it with the optional placement route. The placement adds GBP 3,500 (INR 4.44 Lakhs) in tuition and extends living costs, so it needs a clear academic or career purpose.
• Use the free intersite bus when travelling between Docklands and Stratford campuses; it removes a campus-to-campus fare, although UEL does not publish a fixed annual saving.
• Treat part-time work as supplementary cash flow, not as a tuition plan. Work permission depends on Student Visa conditions and does not remove the maintenance evidence requirement.

Is the University of East London Worth the Cost for Indian Students

UEL is a cost-conscious London option only when the student values its course format and can fund London living without depending on uncertain work income. The one-year MBA midpoint budget is GBP 39,434 (INR 50.05 Lakhs), while the 2026/27 mainstream undergraduate tuition-only comparison reaches GBP 48,060 (INR 61.00 Lakhs) over three years at unchanged rates.

The outcome evidence is mixed. UEL reports 91% of graduates in work or further study within 15 months. The Guardian University Guide 2026 places UEL 33rd in the United Kingdom, while Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2027 places it in the 1001-1200 band. The University of East London ranking comparison shows why domestic teaching indicators and global research measures should not be treated as the same signal.

The United Kingdom master’s comparison is useful for testing UEL against higher-fee alternatives. Graduates applying for the Graduate Route from 1 January 2027 receive 18 months of permission after an eligible bachelor’s or master’s degree, not two years. That route does not guarantee employment or recover the study cost.
