London Metropolitan University admissions cover the September (primary), January, and May intakes across UG (Class XII 50 to 55 percent) and PG (Bachelor’s with 50 percent minimum), with IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in each band) as the standard English benchmark for Indian applicants.

  • September 2027 primary intake: UCAS equal-consideration deadline 13 January 2027, direct applications open on a rolling basis
  • Base tuition and application fee: PG base tuition from £20,000 per year (around INR 25.86 Lakhs), UG from £19,500 (around INR 25.21 Lakhs). No application fee on the direct route, UCAS charges £28.50 (around INR 3,685) for UG via UCAS
  • UG and PG eligibility: UG needs Class XII at 55 percent, PG needs a Bachelor’s with 50 percent overall, plus IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each component
  • Acceptance rate: estimated at 80 to 85 percent, one of the most access-oriented options for Indian applicants

Popular Indian-student picks include the MBA, MS Data Analytics, and BS Computer Science, and students often cite the low IELTS floor and fee-free direct application as key draws. The Guardian’s 2026 value-added measure placed London Metropolitan University joint first in the UK.

Admission status. Open. The primary September 2027 intake is now accepting applications. The UCAS 2027 cycle opened on 12 May 2026 with an equal-consideration deadline of 13 January 2027, and the direct portal runs on a rolling basis. For January 2027 entry, Indian applicants (a Differential Evidence Requirement country) must apply by 14 December 2026. No application fee on the direct route, UCAS charges £28.50 (around INR 3,685) for undergraduate applications via UCAS.

London Metropolitan University Application Deadlines for Indian Students

London Metropolitan University publishes separate deadlines for standard countries and "Differential Evidence Requirement" countries, and India sits in the Differential Evidence group with slightly extended cut-offs meant for extra credibility checks. Undergraduate applicants can apply through UCAS or the direct portal, while postgraduate applicants apply directly. All dates below are drawn from the official international deadlines page.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use £1 = INR 129.30, the live rate on 11 September 2026. Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

London Metropolitan University’s primary intake for Indian students is September, where most programs open.

Nursing and PGCE programs used tighter deadlines. Non-UK residents targeting September 2026 had to apply by 19 June 2026, which has now passed. Both cycles reopen for the September 2027 intake.

Insider note: Because India is a Differential Evidence Requirement country, your January 2027 cut-off is 14 December 2026, not the 30 November date shown for standard countries. That two-week buffer is meant for extra credibility checks, not extra prep time.

London Metropolitan University Eligibility Requirements for Indian Students

Entry thresholds are set separately for undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and London Met applies India-specific academic floors that sit below most Russell Group universities. The figures below come from the official Students from India page.

  • UG general entry: Class X at 50 percent and Class XII at 55 percent
  • UG alternative route: Class X at 50 percent plus a first-class Diploma in Engineering, Technology, or approved Allied Health
  • PG entry: Bachelor’s degree with 50 percent overall (Indian Second Division)
  • Mathematics floor: Class X Mathematics pass with 55 percent or above in Maths or Accounting, CBSE students need C2 minimum

English proficiency is verified through IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, or PTE Academic (in person). Standard courses require IELTS 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each component, while Law, Psychology, LLM, Nursing, and Social Work MSc require higher bands. The online version of PTE is no longer accepted.

London Metropolitan University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Indian applicants can substitute IELTS with strong Class XII English marks. A 65 percent or higher in Class XII English satisfies the standard requirement for most courses, and 70 percent unlocks courses that would otherwise need IELTS 7.0. This is one of the friendlier waivers in UK higher education for Indian applicants and saves both the test fee and roughly three weeks of prep.

London Metropolitan University Postgraduate Programs and Entry Requirements

The postgraduate portfolio for Indian applicants is concentrated in business, computing, health, and international-development disciplines, most running one year full-time. Base tuition sits at £20,000 per year (around INR 25.86 Lakhs) for most master’s programs. For a full course-wise breakdown, see the course-wise fees breakdown on Collegedunia.

London Metropolitan University MBA Admissions for Indian Students

The Guildhall Business School MBA is a one-year, full-time program taught at the Aldgate campus, with a September primary intake and a smaller January intake. Base tuition is £20,000 per year (around INR 25.86 Lakhs) and GMAT or GRE scores are not required.

London Metropolitan University MBA Eligibility

  • Academic: Bachelor’s degree with 50 percent overall from a recognised university
  • Work experience: 2 years post-qualification managerial experience preferred, not mandatory
  • GMAT and GRE: Not required for admission
  • English: IELTS 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each component

London Metropolitan University MBA Rounds and Interview

The MBA follows the general international deadlines. For September 2027 entry, Indian applicants should submit by mid-2027 to allow enough CAS-issuance and visa lead time. There are no fixed rounds. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the admissions team runs a short online interview where they want to test motivation or work-context depth.

Planning note: Applying by March 2027 gives you the widest scholarship window and enough runway for the four-month UK visa process, even though the formal cut-off arrives later.

London Metropolitan University Application Process for Indian Students

Indian applicants apply through one of two routes, and both are recognised by the university. Undergraduate applicants can go through UCAS or the direct portal, while postgraduate applicants use the direct portal only.

  1. Choose your route. UG applicants can file through UCAS, where the 2027 cycle opened on 12 May 2026 with a 13 January 2027 equal-consideration deadline. PG applicants and part-time UG applicants use the direct online portal.
  2. Create your account and pick the course on the London Met direct portal or UCAS Hub.
  3. Complete the application form, including personal details, academic history, one personal statement, and course choice.
  4. Pay the application fee. No application fee on the direct route to London Metropolitan University. UCAS charges £28.50 (around INR 3,685) for undergraduate applications routed through UCAS.
  5. Upload supporting documents, covering transcripts, English certificate, passport copy, personal statement, and references.
  6. Await decision and pay the deposit. The £4,000 (around INR 5.17 Lakhs) tuition deposit is required before CAS is issued for your visa.

Insider note: If you apply directly rather than through UCAS, you can push updated documents (a re-taken IELTS score, an updated transcript) at any time before decision. UCAS locks its form once submitted.

London Metropolitan University Admission Decisions and Offer Letters

The university reviews applications on a rolling basis and typically issues decisions within four to six weeks of a complete file being received. Offers come in two flavours, conditional and unconditional, and both convert to a CAS only after the tuition deposit is paid.

  • Decision turnaround: four to six weeks from complete application to offer letter
  • Conditional offer: meet the pending condition (test score, final transcript) before enrolment
  • Unconditional offer: accept and pay the £4,000 (around INR 5.17 Lakhs) tuition deposit to trigger CAS issuance
  • CAS issuance: aligned to the intake dates above, with final CAS windows on 14 December 2026 for the January 2027 intake
  • Deferral: one-intake deferral is normally allowed on request, with a fresh CAS issued for the new intake

London Metropolitan University Documents Required for Indian Applicants

You can begin the application without a full document set, since London Met allows placeholder submissions and later uploads. A CAS is not issued, however, until every document below is verified by the international admissions team.

  • Passport bio-page scan valid at least six months beyond the intended stay
  • Class X and Class XII certified transcripts and mark sheets (for UG applicants)
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate and consolidated transcripts (for PG applicants)
  • Personal statement of around 500 words covering motivation and career goals
  • Two letters of recommendation, academic for freshers and one academic plus one professional for working applicants
  • Curriculum vitae highlighting internships, work experience, and extracurriculars
  • English test score report covering IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or PTE Academic, issued within the last two years
  • Financial proof, showing bank statement or education loan sanction covering first-year fees plus £13,761 (around INR 17.79 Lakhs) London maintenance for nine months
  • Work-experience letter on company letterhead for MBA and PG applicants with prior employment
  • Two passport-sized photographs in UK visa specifications

London Metropolitan University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students

London Metropolitan University has an estimated acceptance rate of around 80 to 85 percent, based on published international-applicant patterns and its access-oriented mission, meaning it admits most applicants who meet its stated requirements. The university does not publish a single institutional figure.

What Drives London Metropolitan University’s Acceptance Rate

The university admits most applicants who clear its stated floors, a Bachelor’s with 50 percent for PG or Class XII at 55 percent for UG, plus IELTS 6.0. It is not a QS-competitive university (its ranking band sits at 1001 to 1200 globally), but its teaching-outcome and value-added scores are strong.

How Indian Applicants Fare at London Metropolitan University

The most common rejection reasons cited by the India recruitment team are missing documents, weak personal statements, and financial-proof gaps, rather than academic ineligibility. Clean paperwork moves you through fast.

Insider note: A high acceptance rate does not mean a rubber-stamped CAS. The credibility interview and financial-proof scrutiny for Differential Evidence countries (India included) is where borderline files stall. Treat those two steps like any competitive university’s interview stage.

United Kingdom Student Visa Process for London Metropolitan University Applicants

Indian applicants apply for the UK Student Visa (Student Route) after receiving an unconditional offer and CAS from London Metropolitan University. The visa is granted by UK Visas and Immigration, not the university, and the earliest you can apply is six months before your course start date.

You will need your CAS reference, proof of funds held for 28 consecutive days (first-year tuition plus £13,761 (around INR 17.79 Lakhs) for London living costs across nine months), a valid passport, English test evidence, and a TB test certificate. The visa application fee is £558 (around INR 72,150) from outside the UK, plus the Immigration Health Surcharge of £776 per year (around INR 1.00 Lakh). Biometrics are captured at the nearest VFS centre in India, and you must collect your BRP within 10 days of arrival in the UK.

2026 update: The UK Student Visa fee rose to £558 from 8 April 2026. Build this and the IHS into your Class-XII financial planning from day one, since together they add roughly INR 1.75 Lakhs on top of tuition and living costs.

Tips and Application Checklist for London Metropolitan University Admissions

The tips and steps below are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at London Metropolitan University over recent cycles, and they focus on sequencing and credibility-interview readiness rather than documents already listed above. Peer sentiment is also visible in student reviews from London Met alumni.

  • Book IELTS 10 weeks before your deadline, since you will need buffer for a re-take if a band drops below 5.5
  • Use the Class XII English waiver if you scored 65 percent or higher, saving the IELTS fee and roughly three weeks of prep
  • Apply directly if you are PG. UCAS is UG-only and adds an £28.50 (around INR 3,685) fee for no benefit at PG level
  • Request certified transcripts 8 weeks before deadline, as Indian university registrars typically take four to six weeks to issue them
  • Prepare for the UKVI credibility interview. For Differential Evidence countries, expect a 15-minute call testing course knowledge and funding evidence
  • Show 28 days of unbroken funds in an accepted bank format, since post-dated FDs and joint accounts with unrelated persons fail evidence checks
  • Confirm CAS before booking flights, because CAS is issued only after the £4,000 (around INR 5.17 Lakhs) deposit is paid and the deadlines table above lists final CAS-issuance dates

London Metropolitan University admissions run on Class XII at 50 to 55 percent for UG and a Bachelor’s with 50 percent for PG, with IELTS 6.0 as the standard bar, and an 80 to 85 percent acceptance rate keeps it one of the most reachable UK options. Apply direct for no fee and target the September 2027 primary intake through UCAS by 13 January 2027.

Overview

My reasons were to go for the cheapest options as I wanted to sponsor my education on my own. Overall was good, I learned a lot and made some awesome friends. To be honest I was an average student with not much corporate Industry experience, getting a UK visa was easier for me as it's an English-speaking country with lots of opportunities and easier to get access for friends and family. Talking about the extracurricular opportunities there are a lot of options available to go for outings and do sporting events which I really enjoy exploring.
