Studying at the University of Leeds is a big financial decision for Indian students, especially when you combine tuition fees with living costs in the UK. The university offers top-ranked courses, but understanding the total cost upfront is important for better planning. According to the official website of the University of Leeds, 2026-27 tuition fees are as follows:

  • Master’s fees: GBP 31,500 – GBP 41,500 (INR 39 lakh – INR 52 lakh) per year
  • Bachelor’s fees: GBP 26,500 – GBP 49,000 (INR 33 lakh – INR 61 lakh) per year

Leeds is more affordable than cities like London, but you should still plan your monthly budget carefully. On average, Indian students spend around INR 1.25–INR 1.75 lakh (GBP 1,000–GBP 1,400) per month, depending on lifestyle and accommodation.

Another important step is the tuition fee deposit. If you’re applying for a master’s course, you’ll need to pay around GBP 2,000 (~INR 2.1 lakh) to secure your CAS for a UK student visa. This amount is adjusted in your tuition fees, but paying it on time is critical to avoid visa delays.

The excellent part is that Leeds offers scholarships worth up to GBP 16,000 (INR 20 lakh), which can significantly reduce your first-year cost. Many of these are either merit-based or automatically awarded, making them accessible for Indian students.

Currency conversion used: GBP 1= INR 125.06 as of April 13, 2026

University of Leeds Deposit Payment for International Students

For Indian students applying to taught master's programs, paying a tuition fee deposit is a key step to secure your UK student visa.

  • Deposit Amount: GBP 2,000 (~INR 2.1 lakh)
  • Purpose: Required to receive your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) for a UK Student visa
  • When to Pay:
    • Only after accepting your unconditional offer
    • After meeting all academic + English language conditions
    • The university will send an official email request before payment

Deadline:

  • Final Deposit Deadline: 21 August 2026 (for September 2026 intake)
  • Apply early—paying late may delay your visa process and travel plans

Important consideration:

  • Undergraduate students are not required to pay an initial deposit
  • Deposit is adjusted in total tuition fees (not an extra cost)
  • Reflected in your CAS as an advance payment (helps in visa approval)
  • Non-refundable if your funding/scholarship is rejected
  • Pay only if you’re confident about arranging full tuition fees
  • Pay the deposit as early as possible after offer acceptance to avoid visa delays
  • Ensure sufficient time for visa processing (3–6 weeks) + travel planning

Undergraduate courses are slightly lower, typically £26,500 – £49,000 (₹33–61 lakh per year). Courses like MBBS and specialized science programs are on the higher end.

Ques. Is the UK costly for Indian students?

Ans. Yes, the UK can be expensive, but it depends on your city and lifestyle. On average, Indian students spend £1,000–£1,400 (₹1.25–1.75 lakh per month) on living expenses. Cities like London are much pricier, but places like Leeds are relatively affordable, making them a better option for budget-conscious students.

Ques. Is Leeds a top 20 university?

  • Syllabus was relatively updated and relevant to the current data market. No direct industrial exposure or research experience was provided but the same was tried to be incorporated within the set curriculum.
  • Classes went on for 3-4 hours per day, varying based on the student's personal schedule for the week. Average number of students varied from 60 to 150 depending on the elective or course.

Fees

  • £27,500 is the fee

  • The curriculum is relevant but we didn't get any industrial exposure. Class schedules will vary but you can expect about 5-6 hours of lectures and also practical lab work of 2-3 hours every week.
  • The average number of students varies, as my course was offered by the school of mathematics, but we were allowed to take modules from the school of math, computing and the business school.

Fees

  • 28750 pounds but it keeps increasing every year. On the brighter side, because of the decline in international students, there are more scholarships offered.

  • The course is a mix of theoretical and practical elements. Some modules are very technical, like "Quantitative Analysis" and "Machine Learning in Practice," which require a good grasp of statistics and programming. Other parts are more focused on decision-making and consultancy, which are practical and interactive. It’s challenging, especially if you don’t have a strong background in math or coding, but the faculty provides a lot of support to help you keep up?.
  • Positives:
    • Good mix of both theoretical and practical concepts, which is very valuable for the job market.
    • Projects and assignments were very close to real-world problems.
  • Negatives:
    • Sometimes workload is overwhelming, especially during holidays.
    • The cost of living is high for international students, which is quite stressful
    • 2 to 3 classes per day, mostly from 8 to 4
    • My course had 110 Indian students

Fees

  • My course fee was 28000 pounds when I joined in 2023. It might now get increased.
  • We have the option to pay it in two semesters.
  • My rent was expensive and it was around £600 per month. I lived close to the university, so no transportation costs and other expenses were around £200 per month. So it was £800 per month.
  • These expenses are subjected to a particular place, where I lived in Leeds.

  • The course felt more introductory in the computer modules, but it was good enough in the math modules
  • It was a good mix of both practical and theoretical material
  • The pro of this course was that you develop good research habits and use your brain power even to solve the easiest problems. You rethink things in more depth with the courseworks and feedbacks they provide
  • A con of this course was that it is very easy to get lost and they only introduce the topics but give difficult assignments.
  • There are about 4 classes on average daily. And they are scarcely scheduled from 9am to 6pm
  • The faculty there generally suggests not doing a part-time job until extremely necessary. Because the course is a little hectic.
  • I admire my statistics professor; the way he explained the content went straight into my head, and his coursework was challenging enough to use a lot of my brain. I also admire my personal tutor for he was very supportive and understanding. My dissertation guide was also very polite and helpful.

Fees

  • College fees was thirty Lacs INR and Student Accommodation cost me around nine Lacs INR (which was the most expensive one; cheaper ones are available if you choose to live a little further from the college)
  • You can pay college fees either completely or in installments. I did it in 2 installments.
  • 15000-20000 INR would be an estimate for monthly expenses

  • My course was pretty basic for someone who has already worked in the industry. As per examinations perspective it was written examination. Exams were easy but the correct was pretty tough. They never tried to pass someone in the examinations. Theoretically they don't deliver content in the class room. Everything is dependent on your personal interest. Practicals were there but it was optional so most of the time labs were empty.
  • Positive is nothing much. Negatives are syllabus is outdated. They just fancy names in the subject.

Fees

  • Tuition fee had initial deposit around £1,300 for Getting CAS. Once CAS letter is released from the UK government remaining amount to be paid to university was around £24500. Total amount was £27000.
  • Fees is charged Yearly
  • Rent was £520 per month excluding bills. energy Bills were around £100 and water bill was £50. Transportation monthly bus pass was £ 60 and groceries were £60 per month

The curriculum was great with hands on experience in relevant code and non-code applications. It could have been better if they had added SQL as it a basic criteria for being a data analyst/scientist. You get opportunities to research/work with numerous industry partners across the UK during your dissertation period. The dissertation is structured in an appropriate manner which immensely helps you apply what you have learnt.
