Course Curriculum

6

  • My course was pretty basic for someone who has already worked in the industry. As per examinations perspective it was written examination. Exams were easy but the correct was pretty tough. They never tried to pass someone in the examinations. Theoretically they don't deliver content in the class room. Everything is dependent on your personal interest. Practicals were there but it was optional so most of the time labs were empty.
  • Positive is nothing much. Negatives are syllabus is outdated. They just fancy names in the subject.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to 4 universities.
University of Nottingham- Confirmed admission but didn't join
University of Glasgow - Confirmed admission but didn't join
University of Leeds- Confirmed Admissions as it was student friendly city
University of huddersfield - Confirmed admission with scholarship but didn't join
Not Applicable as I had no rejections

  • Cost of the city was student friendly and University had many research projects going

  • Ielts score was considered. Once Ielts was approved. I applied on the university portal by uploading all the documents including my markslist from 10th class to Btech, experience letter, Salary slips, Resume, Sop and Letter of recommendation from my Btech heads. Then I was waiting for my result. Once I got in I had to pay fees of at least 1,50,000/- INR to get a CAS letter from university. Using the same documents as above and including CAS and offer letter I applied for my visa from vfs. Once I got my Visa I paid rest of my fees.

  • IELTS- 6.5 minimum score or 12th class English marks

  • It was good but a very long process just for getting admission.

  • I applied for September intake. I didn't wanted wait more as I was already researching about my abroad studies since a year.

  • It took me 1 month after applying to get a response from the university. Admissions were opened in october end and I applied in the first week of november. Due to holidays it took me a month to get a response from the admissions team. I got my response and offer letter in January 2nd week

Class Schedule

6

  • One class per day. 5 classes per week
  • Average number of students in the class were 50-60
  • 60% were indians in my course

Faculty

4

  • Professors were of no use. They had their own research and they never cared for any international students and never helped them with any part time or full time opportunities.
  • I had favourite faculty from business school he was a module leader he was the only one that cared about the stuff that we were actually preparing for and gave us industrial awareness as well.
  • There were 6 faculty handling atleast 40 students per class. There was no interaction as my course was introduced by the school of mathematics and most of the subjects were mathematics modules and there were only mathematics faculty trying to teach a computer science classes.
  • Teaching methodology was pretty traditional. I mean India is much more updated than those prestigious institutions claim to be. it was all one to many communication. The course preparation is not all sufficient for securing a job

Campus Life

10

  • I would say it had around 20+ buildings with everything connected. All of them were near each other except for a separate building of computer science building ester simpson and Leeds business school in different locations but accessible from Leeds university union building. Everything was walkable distance.
  • There is fully equipped gym, temperature controlled pool. Basket ball court, very small football yard, Badminton court behind business school, 3 different libraries and a student union.
  • There are also a theatre, music rooms, Yoga rooms and 3 bars. There is grocery store and small cafes for coffee and snacks and lunch area and a huge common room with seating.

Part Time Jobs

  • Hardly 30-40 students get Research assistant jobs. Every class has Course representatives who basically work for free. There are no Teaching Assistant positions for students.
  • £15- 22.50 per hour. Mostly work is given for 10-15 hours.
  • Project assistant, There is Nexus building which has multiple opportunities. Student union supervisor. Most of the positions available are as a cafe assistant in the university or kitchen assistant.
  • 20 hours per week
  • On a scale of 1 - 10 (1 being poor and 10 being sure) is 4 is the best.
  • Indian students prefer working in Subway and Mcdonalds. They earn upto £11 per hour. It is most likely tough for the students to get part time in student city like leeds as it has lots of students and then these turn out to be a competition. Even if they get a job they have to blindly work for straight for few time ignoring universities and then talk to manager to adjust their schedule. Process is nothing huge. Indeed is a huge part time platform and there are also event management agencies which can help with the part time process. Every single company has their own online careers website through which you have to apply for part time

Placement

2

  • 1% got employment. People are still looking for jobs in UK.
  • £29000-£40000 per anum in UK.
  • Online job portals like linkedIn
  • No placements and no international student is considered as they require visa sponsorship. Also there is particular term which I came across for very first time in my life was "over qualified for a job" also some of my batchmates heard under qualified as well.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I found my accommodation from Spareroom website. I did an online viewing and also asked my cousin to visit the place as there are many frauds that happen in Spareroom for money.
  • I lived in an ensuite room on a first floor so my rent was comparatively higher. It was £520 per month for 10 months contract. Then I took summer let in a student accommodation for 3 months as my plan was to stay there till my course end period.
  • I would recommend to go with the student accommodation or university accommodation. No matter how expensive they are in UK. Because the british weather is harsh and normal houses are not very warm and compatible with bills.
  • I lived 500m away from the campus

Exams

  •  IELTS is the only requirement for my university as it was russell group.
  • Statement of purpose, Letter of recommendation ( I got three from my bachelors college just to be safe) , 10th marks list, 12th marksheet, Btech marksheet included CMM, PC and OD. Aadhar and pan and my bank details.
  • No interview was not part of my application process because i had good scores

Fees

  • Tuition fee had initial deposit around £1,300 for Getting CAS. Once CAS letter is released from the UK government remaining amount to be paid to university was around £24500. Total amount was £27000.
  • Fees is charged Yearly
  • Rent was £520 per month excluding bills. energy Bills were around £100 and water bill was £50. Transportation monthly bus pass was £ 60 and groceries were £60 per month

Scholarship

  • No I didn't receive any scholarship as I didn't apply
  • Yes. two of my friends got chevening scholarship. It was sponsored by Adani group. They got a scholarship of full fees £27500 and they got a monthly allowance of £1300 which included their bills, rent. but the requirement for them was to work as a volunteer and also take interviews for next batch.
  • In my university around 30 members got scholarship
