I chose the University of Leeds for my MSc in Data Science and Analytics due to several factors that I believed would be crucial. These were university rankings across engineering and data-based courses, followed by recruitment rates in the area for my field. The course was highly flexible. I got to choose 6 out of my 8 modules; also, it was one of the cheapest courses for a university in QS top 100 I had an 8.0 in IELTS. I think a stronger SOP and grades, along with supporting evidence, are what are most important....Read More

I only applied to UK Russell Group colleges, which are as follows: King's College London, University of Edinburgh, Queen Mary University of London, and University of Leeds. I got rejected from the first 2 and got accepted in the last 2. In my opinion, Kings College requires higher grades and a better portfolio than mine. The number of applicants each year is too big and I was not prepared for it, as MS was never something I had considered earlier. For Edinburgh, they did not specify a reason but I assume I hadn't given IELTS by that time; it could be a reason. I chose the University of Leeds over Queen Mary as it has a higher QS ranking and London is more expensive than Leeds. The University of Leeds just required 2 LORs and an SOP apart from all the identification documents. It didn't ask for any other exam. Although I gave IELTS for Queen Mary, which required 6+ bands in each section of the exam. Application was overall easy for me once I had all the documents in place. The only challenge was to get the LoRs and tailor the SoP as per the college. I got into the Fall (September) intake of 2023 batch because the data science and analytics program was only available in Autumn. The admission process wasn't very long. Once I accepted the offer and paid the initial amount, I received CAS in around 2 weeks. I can say the entire thing from applying to getting my CAS was around 1.5-2 months of process....Read More

Applied to the University of Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol, and Leeds, and received an unconditional offer letter from all of them and was accepted.  All of them required certain documents to change my conditional offer letter to unconditional, but Liverpool offered me an unconditional offer straightaway with an automatic scholarship, which made me question their quality. I picked the University of Leeds after considering different factors like rankings and city life . The admission process was easy. I used an agency to help me out, and they took care of most of the stuff, like collecting my education documents. I didn't have to take the IELTS test because they accepted my English scores from Class X and XII. It was a smooth process, no hassle at all. In January of 2023, I submitted my application for the September 2023 intake. By the end of February, I had received an unconditional offer letter. There was no communication or updates shared with me during the selection process. However, the first email I received from the University informed me that I had been selected but needed to provide my English proficiency test scores to receive my unconditional offer letter. I applied to 4 universities. University of Nottingham- Confirmed admission but didn't join University of Glasgow - Confirmed admission but didn't join University of Leeds- Confirmed Admissions as it was student friendly city University of huddersfield - Confirmed admission with scholarship but didn't join Not Applicable as I had no rejections Cost of the city was student friendly and University had many research projects going Ielts score was considered. Once Ielts was approved. I applied on the university portal by uploading all the documents including my markslist from 10th class to Btech, experience letter, Salary slips, Resume, Sop and Letter of recommendation from my Btech heads. Then I was waiting for my result. Once I got in I had to pay fees of at least 1,50,000/- INR to get a CAS letter from university. Using the same documents as above and including CAS and offer letter I applied for my visa from vfs. Once I got my Visa I paid rest of my fees. IELTS- 6.5 minimum score or 12th class English marks It was good but a very long process just for getting admission. I applied for September intake. I didn't wanted wait more as I was already researching about my abroad studies since a year. It took me 1 month after applying to get a response from the university. Admissions were opened in october end and I applied in the first week of november. Due to holidays it took me a month to get a response from the admissions team. I got admitted into 3/4 of the universities I applied to. And I got waitlisted for one of the universities. I got admitted to the University of Leeds, the University of Warwick and the University of Lancaster. My application got waitlisted for the University of Birmingham, which I came to know in the month of July. I think that my profile for the course that I chose may not be strong. The course ranking of the domain that I chose was higher when compared to other universities. Just submitting an application with the correct documents. Profile should be good with academics and mathematics. It was just language requirements of IELTS of 6.5 minimum. There were no other restrictions to the course. No SAT, GMAT. The overall admission experience was satisfactory. I applied during the September intake as I heard it was the best to join as the universities usually start at this time and also the climate is good so that it would be easier for me to adapt for the Winter The admission process took around 3 weeks and then I got my CAS letter from the University of Leeds. The University of Leeds has a decent rank and is situated in a beautiful city with loads to give you as a student. It is small enough to understand British culture. The course that they were providing was unique and exactly what I wanted. The overall experience was filled with ups and downs but it has made me a different person altogether. It is not only about completing my master's but also studying abroad has made me a better and stronger person.
