- The university aid for placements wasnt that good.
Course Curriculum
- The course is a mix of theoretical and practical elements. Some modules are very technical, like "Quantitative Analysis" and "Machine Learning in Practice," which require a good grasp of statistics and programming. Other parts are more focused on decision-making and consultancy, which are practical and interactive. It’s challenging, especially if you don’t have a strong background in math or coding, but the faculty provides a lot of support to help you keep up?.
- Positives:
- Good mix of both theoretical and practical concepts, which is very valuable for the job market.
- Projects and assignments were very close to real-world problems.
- Negatives:
- Sometimes workload is overwhelming, especially during holidays.
- The cost of living is high for international students, which is quite stressful
- 2 to 3 classes per day, mostly from 8 to 4
- My course had 110 Indian students
Admission Experience
- I got admitted into 3/4 of the universities I applied to. And I got waitlisted for one of the universities.
- I got admitted to the University of Leeds, the University of Warwick and the University of Lancaster.
- My application got waitlisted for the University of Birmingham, which I came to know in the month of July.
- I think that my profile for the course that I chose may not be strong.
- The course ranking of the domain that I chose was higher when compared to other universities.
- Just submitting an application with the correct documents. Profile should be good with academics and mathematics.
- It was just language requirements of IELTS of 6.5 minimum. There were no other restrictions to the course. No SAT, GMAT.
- The overall admission experience was satisfactory.
- I applied during the September intake as I heard it was the best to join as the universities usually start at this time and also the climate is good so that it would be easier for me to adapt for the Winter
- The admission process took around 3 weeks and then I got my CAS letter from the University of Leeds. My friends got it sooner, within 2 weeks.
Faculty
- The faculty-to-student ratio was considerate and I believe it does influence the quality of education and for my course, it was considerate because we had our own mentors and it was really good.
- The teaching methodology and approach were phenomenal. The course module, content and approach are sufficient for students to equip themselves with the knowledge required to secure a job.
- They provide general guidance to all students but not any private or personal advice or any references.
- The business school faculty members were so good at mentoring the students in the right path and I admire them the most.
Campus Life
- My college has many campuses –School of engineering, School of Mathematics, Business school
- School of law and all are located in and around the city centre.
- Our college got two libraries, one with 24/7 access, gym facilities and also student communal spaces.
- Welcome Freshmen and Snowball are two major events that take place at my university.
- There are a lot of extracurricular activities that take place at my university. There are many clubs, like go-karting and goga clubs for trekking and led sports for swimming, table tennis, rugby and also cricket.
Part Time Jobs
- The part-time pay rate is around 12 to 15 pounds per hour here in Leeds. It varies with Job. There are many seasonal opportunities available for students to work casually at the university. There are also some on-campus opportunities available for the students to work at the university cafes and bars.
- As per UKVI, students are allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours per week.
- It is difficult to secure a part-time job as it is extremely competitive in nature.
- Students typically earn from £11 to £15 pounds based on the job nature and the time they chose to work. Night shifts have premium pay and benefits. So it differs with the job. It is sometimes difficult for students to secure a part-time job while studying and it is also extremely hard to concentrate, as students won't be able to find time to manage both. Here there are many ways to get part-time. Most universities have their own job links, and students can use websites like Indeed and other job sites to follow. They should curate their CVs for the suitable part-time job they wish to go to.
Placement
- Very less, about 2 to 3%, that too with previous work experience before the course.
- The average salary starts at £28000 and goes to £32,000 per annum
- Here in Leeds, many companies like Asda and PWC have set up their offices. Also, there are many government forums like leeds society building and council that offer jobs.
- Pwc, Accenture, Deloitte, Asda, Morrisons, etc
Accommodation
- I found my accommodation through web browsing. I found my accommodation on the Uniacco website. I didnt use any groups on Discord or Telegram
- My accommodation rent is £600/month with all bills included and an ensuite bathroom. Its typically a 3-bedroom apartment with a common kitchen and 24/7 reception to help out students.
- Always use the web on your own to find better accommodations. Because there is a lot of scam happening regarding getting accommodation. So go on your own.
- My accommodation is very close to my university and it is just a 15-minute walk. Most of the Indians stayed in my accommodation. Its called the Burley Road Accommodation.
Exams
- For the University of Leeds, for my course particularly, IELTS or TOEFL is required. I took IELTS and a minimum of 6.5 in all the categories of IELTS is required.
- The documents like the statement of purpose, letter of recommendation and curriculum vitae are required for the application process.
- No, there was no interview as a part of my application screening for my course
Fees
- My course fee was 28000 pounds when I joined in 2023. It might now get increased.
- We have the option to pay it in two semesters.
- My rent was expensive and it was around £600 per month. I lived close to the university, so no transportation costs and other expenses were around £200 per month. So it was £800 per month.
- These expenses are subjected to a particular place, where I lived in Leeds.
Scholarship
- No. I haven't gotten any scholarships for my course. For my course, I got automatically enrolled in the scholarship schemes and eligibility criteria were based on the profile strength and background.
- The amount was around £5000 for the Leeds bursary scholarship.
- Also, none of the batchmates received scholarships because it was the only scholarship for the entire business school.
