This university has specific modules I wanted to study and the university is ranked among top 100 in the world. What I love the most about my university is that there is help for literally everything you need, be it academic help, job opportunities guidance, mental health, financial health etc. I chose my program because I wanted to join the pharmaceutical industry and this course is the absolute foundation for it. Overall, I am glad I took a risk to come this far from my comfortable zone. I am now capable of doing things, I never thought I could do. I love how I have experienced what UK universities have to offer and now I cannot wait to make my impact in the world.
Course Curriculum
My course literally talks about discovering new drugs, so I would say it is as updated as it could be. It has various modules ranging from basics to advanced, that helps you explore various fields, in whatever depth you are comfortable with. As part of my masters, I am supposed to submit a research project, which involves working 3 months in a fully functional lab and gives me exposure to real life research and development.
Exams
The admission requirements for my university included: My academic transcript, SOP, CV, Proof of English language proficiency, Class 10th result, Class 12th result, LOR. I got admitted using my Class 12 English result (93%) which demonstrated proficiency in the language. 10th: CBSE - 92.8% 12th: CBSE - 93.4% U.G: Delhi University B.Sc Chemistry - 89% I included my CV, SOP and LOR: Key Points for CV- Detailed modules list of your bachelors, your internship experience, languages you know, Awards received. Key Points for LOR- How the professor know you and in what depth. Why you stand out from the class, why you should do the specific masters. Interview Round: No
Placement
Every month, different recruiting companies do visit the campus offering roles in wide variety of fields from engineering to IT, business, management etc. Although University is not responsible for your placements and your salary depends on your role and experience.
Internship
I recently got an internship with Practera to work on their client project, it starts in July though. It does not pay any stipend. I got this internship after writing SOP for it on their website.
Fees
30,000 pounds. I guess it increased for the upcoming year though.
Scholarship
I got International biological sciences excellence Scholarship worth 7500 pounds. There was a special application for the scholarship where I had to write another SOP, explaining my financial need and why I am worthy of scholarship.
Faculty
There is 3-4 professors per module talking about their individual expertise. Hands down the professors are so friendly and kind, they would listen to you for hours, treat you like a friend, honestly something I never got to experience back in India. Here they allot you with your own personal academic tutor, and mine is just a blessing for me.
Campus Life
There are many clubs but sadly they are paid (50 pounds), and as a masters student I don't really have much time for it. But apart from that, the university host pizza nights, game evenings, alumni week, coffee days literally every week and if anything you won't have time to go to all of them. We have 3 big libraries with such comfortable seating and we can even pre-book them in advance. We also have free gym that includes swimming pool, martial arts and various activities plus WiFi is available in all areas of campus and residence for free.
Hostel
So I live in uni accommodation which is quite adorable. It is ensuite i.e. I have my own washroom but I do share my kitchen with 6 other flatmates. It costs about 7000 pounds for a year and is super close to uni. That being said, there are different personal houses that people rent too.
