The university was resourceful and helped expanding my network. Academics were great and I felt I was supported throughout. I was majorly disappointed about the placement opportunities that the university failed to bring for their study abroad students. That diminishes your ROI greatly.

Course Curriculum

8

The curriculum was great with hands on experience in relevant code and non-code applications. It could have been better if they had added SQL as it a basic criteria for being a data analyst/scientist. You get opportunities to research/work with numerous industry partners across the UK during your dissertation period. The dissertation is structured in an appropriate manner which immensely helps you apply what you have learnt.

Exams

I submitted my IELTS 8.0 and my 12th standard English score (92%). The university considered my 12th Boards score and not the IELTS.. I was required submit an SoP and an LoR. In the SoP, it's vital that you show interest about the course that you are applying for. A pretext of how and why you decided to take up the course, and a future looking statement of how you plan to capitalise the course. Lastly, tie it up with why you think the university you are applying to offers you the best resources/means to complete that particular course. For example, 'UoL lets its students choose their modules and tailor their course, this suits me as I can study specifically what I want to.' As for the LoR, you have to sell yourself. The recommendation should point what value YOU bring. It could be research experience under the guidance of the person writing you the recommendation, it could be your department head mentioning your leadership skills etc. Universities generally like research experience and so it should be stressed that your research experience is put across very confidently. Keep in mind that it is completely alright if the research couldn't bear any physical outcome, it's the process of thinking and arranging ideas that is important.

Placement

About 100-150 companies visit the university easily during career events. They offer graduate programs in all fields. But these programs are not designed for immigrants as the program length and the visa validity clash. So overall it is disappointing that nothing is done about this. Unless you have considerable amount of experience, there is no use applying to companies.

Faculty

In general I have felt that the faculty is great and very much approachable. But I also felt faculty from the computing department couldn't give proper feedback which affected grades as they had different expectations from assignments. Certain faculty deliberately encourage conversations and discussions which have a huge impact on the learning process.

Campus Life

The student union at the university held various career fairs and events throughout the year. There were diverse clubs like cooking, philosophy and politics, music, and so on. You could find Wifi almost everywhere in the campus. There were two resourceful libraries with great study areas. In terms of sports, there wasn't much except for swimming, gym and basketball as far as my knowledge goes.

Hostel

You could find student accommodations (private/University) very easily. University accommodation should be preferred as they have better redressal systems and better facilities. They also come in various prices. Private accommodations provide good facilities only at places where the prices are too high, but even then, it's usually the case that the rooms are small. Other accommodations struggle with cleanliness and orderliness.
