Likes
- One thing I really liked about my course at the University of Leeds was the frequency of networking and workshop events available to attend in a one-year course. These events not only helped students to connect with faculty outside course but provided a great platform to learn more about the current job market with discussions on relevant openings and trends.
Dislikes
- On the flip side, one thing I did not like much about the course was the short duration which meant there was lesser time to get started with academics and life in a new country while simultaneously stressing about the job market with early applications. Ideally, I would have loved to see more personal skills and networking based tasks involved in the curriculum but understand the limitations in a one-year course.
- I found my accommodation online with the help of sites such as reddit and google. Since I couldn't decide in time for on-campus accommodations, I had to pick a private one, but it did not make much difference, as most accommodations are pretty close to the campus. Rent was around £175 per week for a duration of a year.
Dislikes
- We get generic career fairs no real help with securing jobs or internships.
- You can find accommodations online; there are a lot of aggregators out there. My weekly rent was 149 pounds, including bills for an en suite.
Likes
- Course Curriculum was upto the mark and well suited to the domain which i chose.
- Campus Infrastructure is too good with well ambient class rooms
- Campus part time job opportunities are plenty with the help of university services
Dislikes
- The class schedule for my course was irregular.
- The markings for the assignments were not as expected.
- The university aid for placements wasnt that good.
- I found my accommodation through web browsing. I found my accommodation on the Uniacco website. I didnt use any groups on Discord or Telegram
- My accommodation rent is £600/month with all bills included and an ensuite bathroom. Its typically a 3-bedroom apartment with a common kitchen and 24/7 reception to help out students.
- Always use the web on your own to find better accommodations. Because there is a lot of scam happening regarding getting accommodation. So go on your own.
- My accommodation is very close to my university and it is just a 15-minute walk. Most of the Indians stayed in my accommodation. Its called the Burley Road Accommodation.

Dislikes
- 1. The course was kind of introductory. I expected more from a master's degree
- 2. Teaching time was very less (1 yr course had 3 months of teaching per semester + 2 months of holidays + 3 months of dissertation)
- 3. They did not introduce the newer areas like GenAI, RAG, LLMs. Only a very basic introduction to NLP
- I used Amber Student to get my accommodation, as it was a private one. The university also has their accommodations, but I didn't get the one I liked so I chose to go for a private agency.
- 174 pounds per week was the rent for me, all bills included. I wouldn't say it was the best accommodation. There were better places with better facilities. But moving was a big task so I chose to stay.
- I would suggest going for university accommodations or the ones listed on the Unipol website, as they have to follow the norms strictly.
- My accommodation was a 4-minute walk from my college. Indian students stayed in all different accommodations as they were a lot in number.

- I liked Infrastructure
- Library - 3 different library and 2 were 24/7 open
- Online learning resources like coursera
Dislikes
- No student support for international student
- Very traditional course
- Specifically for my course faculty were not very good with the subject
- I found my accommodation from Spareroom website. I did an online viewing and also asked my cousin to visit the place as there are many frauds that happen in Spareroom for money.
- I lived in an ensuite room on a first floor so my rent was comparatively higher. It was £520 per month for 10 months contract. Then I took summer let in a student accommodation for 3 months as my plan was to stay there till my course end period.
- I would recommend to go with the student accommodation or university accommodation. No matter how expensive they are in UK. Because the british weather is harsh and normal houses are not very warm and compatible with bills.
- I lived 500m away from the campus

- Met people from different cultures, great infrastructure, access to courses
Dislikes
- No placement as such
I chose this university because, out of the acceptances, this was the only course that provided marketing with analytics so that I could get exposed to the practical side as well. The overall experience is average.
Likes
- University of Leeds was among the top 10 universities of the Russell group, the university let me tailor the course according to my needs, I heard the faculty was great from previous students, Leeds as a city was great to live in and was affordable as well.
- The university's constant involvement in their students' growth a with a great feedback system was a highlight.
Dislikes
- As mentioned earlier, there was no placement cell of the university. It held fairs but they weren't enough as they just helped discovering potential companies that a person can apply to. But without a dedicated placement cell, it becomes very tough for foreign students.
The university was resourceful and helped expanding my network. Academics were great and I felt I was supported throughout. I was majorly disappointed about the placement opportunities that the university failed to bring for their study abroad students. That diminishes your ROI greatly.
Likes
- It was top 100 universities all over the world. It is renowned for teaching mathematics and Data science. University takes care of students well being which makes me go for this university.
- They offer a good amount of knowledge to me. They take care of our well-being and even sometimes provide valuable sources to carry out our research of the projects. The student union is also very good lots of free stuff is present there.
Dislikes
- Moving class to class in a different building is quite a hastle in this university. There is quite an uphill even between the buildings making it very tiring.
University experience is really good. You have plenty of students with similar backgrounds trying to understand the same topics you can discuss with each other. University have some doubt clearing sessions which help to grasp topic in more depth.
The program I have selected i.e., Data Science and Analytics had a wide range of subjects to choose from. I had the freedom to choose majority of the subjects I want to study. I also wanted to be a Data Scientist, so I chose this program. I have always been fascinated by the vast amount of data and Data Science and Analysis intrigued me.
