University of Northampton admissions run on a rolling review model across three intakes each year, with the September window carrying most programmes and Indian applicants routed through the university’s Principal Representative network. Undergraduate entry requires Class XII at 60 percent-plus and postgraduate entry requires a bachelor’s degree at 55 percent-plus (a UK 2:1 equivalent).

  • The September 2026 primary intake closes for international applicants on 24 August 2026.
  • Base tuition sits at GBP 15,700 (around INR 20.02 Lakhs) for UG BSc courses and rises to GBP 19,500 (around INR 24.86 Lakhs) for the MBA; no application fee is charged for direct submissions.
  • UG: Class XII 60 percent-plus with IELTS 6.0; PG: bachelor’s 55 percent-plus with IELTS 6.5.
  • Enrolment rate is estimated at around 20 percent, with offer rates running 77 to 86 percent for qualified applicants.

Popular graduate options at University of Northampton include the MBA, MSc Business Analytics, and MSc Accounting and Finance, and the three-window academic calendar gives Indian applicants clear flexibility on visa lead time and CAS scheduling.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use GBP 1 = INR 127.50 (July 2026). Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.
Status: Open. The September 2026 primary intake closes on 24 August 2026 for international applicants, with the GBP 7,000 (around INR 8.93 Lakhs) deposit due by 31 August 2026 for CAS issuance. UoN charges no application fee for direct or representative-mediated submissions to its SITS applicant portal.

University of Northampton Application Deadlines for Indian Students

The University of Northampton runs rolling admissions on published key dates rather than fixed rounds, with three annual intake windows for taught programmes and two for research degrees. Deadlines below are drawn from the official University of Northampton key dates page for international applicants and are current for the 2026-27 cycle.

University of Northampton’s primary intake for Indian students is September — most taught programmes open here, and January carries a smaller secondary cohort.

Late applications after the 24 August 2026 international deadline are reviewed case-by-case by a senior panel, so Indian applicants who miss the window can still be considered but risk deferral to January 2027. Popular programmes such as Computing, Psychology, Business Management, and Accounting and Finance typically close informally four to five months before a start month.

Planning note: The 24 August 2026 application deadline is only 47 days from today. UK Student visa processing runs 15 to 20 working days from CAS receipt, so submit your application by mid-July 2026 to leave room for deposit, CAS issue by 14 September, and biometrics.

University of Northampton Eligibility for Indian Students

University of Northampton eligibility for Indian students blends UK-style honours degree translation with published English language floors. UoN does not accept Medium of Instruction letters, so every Indian applicant submits a formal English test score or completes the university’s Pre-sessional English Programme (a four-, six-, or eleven-week bridging course).

University of Northampton Academic Eligibility for UG and PG

  • Undergraduate general entry: Class XII with 60 percent-plus from CBSE, CISCE, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, or West Bengal boards; 65 percent-plus from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and other state boards.
  • Foundation route: The Integrated Foundation Year covers Indian applicants whose Class XII results fall below the standard threshold or need a subject-preparation bridge.
  • Postgraduate taught entry: A three- or four-year bachelor’s at 55 percent-plus, which UoN treats as a UK second-class honours degree (a 2:2 or 2:1 depending on the awarding institution).
  • MBA entry: A first- or second-class honours degree; work experience is useful but not required.
  • PhD and MPhil entry: A first-class or upper-second bachelor’s or a master’s in the research area, plus a 1,000-word research proposal.

University of Northampton English Language Requirements

UoN publishes minimum scores across four accepted tests. Note that TOEFL iBT floors change on 26 January 2026 to reflect the new test scale.

Duolingo English Test is not listed among UoN’s accepted tests, so Indian applicants should plan for IELTS Academic (or IELTS for UKVI if using the pre-sessional route). Applicants who studied their most recent degree entirely in an English-medium majority country may be exempt from testing, but this exemption does not extend to India-based schooling regardless of medium.

University of Northampton Postgraduate Programs

University of Northampton postgraduate programmes are one-year taught masters that follow a Northampton Business School or Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology structure. Base tuition for 2026-27 runs from GBP 16,995 to GBP 19,500 (around INR 21.67 to 24.86 Lakhs); course-wise variation is significant. Apply the £500 Early Bird discount by paying full fees in advance of enrolment. For a course-wise fees breakdown, use the linked page rather than treating the range below as a per-programme figure.

University of Northampton Undergraduate Programs

University of Northampton undergraduate courses typically run three years for a standard honours degree or four years with a placement or Foundation Year attached. Base tuition for 2026-27 sits at GBP 15,700 (around INR 20.02 Lakhs) per year for most BSc and BA courses, with a small band variation by faculty.

Indian applicants whose Class XII results fall short of the general threshold can enter through the Integrated Foundation Year, which adds a preparatory year before Year 1 of the honours degree.

University of Northampton MBA for Indian Students

The University of Northampton MBA is a one-year full-time programme that can extend to two years with an optional six- to twelve-month work placement. Tuition for 2026-27 is GBP 19,500 (around INR 24.86 Lakhs) for full-time international students, with an additional GBP 1,000 (around INR 1.27 Lakhs) placement fee charged only if a placement is secured.

University of Northampton MBA Eligibility

  • Academic: A first- or second-class honours bachelor’s, or an Indian bachelor’s degree at 55 percent-plus in any discipline.
  • Work experience: Not mandatory; a clear demonstration of interest in business or enterprise is sufficient.
  • GMAT / GRE: Not required by University of Northampton for MBA admission.
  • English: IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in other bands.

University of Northampton MBA Intakes and Assessment

The MBA runs three start dates each year — September, January, and June — with rolling review. Assessment across eight compulsory modules (160 credits) blends case analyses, presentations, and business plans, followed by a 40-credit major project. Placements sit through the Student Futures team but are competitive, so applicants should treat the standard one-year pathway as the default.

Insider note: UoN’s no-GMAT stance combined with the January and June start dates makes it one of the more accessible UK MBA options for Indian applicants who miss the September intake at other schools. Apply early to be part of the placement conversation before the second-year window opens.

University of Northampton PhD Admissions

The University of Northampton runs PhD and MPhil admissions on two fixed entry points each year — October and March — with rolling review of applications for both. The typical time from application to formal offer is around seven weeks, so plan submission at least four months before your target start date.

University of Northampton PhD Eligibility

  • A first-class or upper-second-class bachelor’s (around 60 to 65 percent), or a master’s in a relevant subject area.
  • A 1,000-word research proposal matched to a specific supervisor or research group at UoN.
  • IELTS 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in each band (or equivalent).
  • Direct outreach to a potential supervisor before formal application, to confirm alignment.

University of Northampton PhD Funding for Indian Students

UoN advertises project-specific doctoral studentships on its dedicated studentships page and on jobs.ac.uk. Fully funded studentships typically cover fees, a UKRI-benchmarked maintenance stipend, and a project budget for three or four years. Indian applicants without a studentship pay international research fees and should factor in a GBP 7,000 (around INR 8.93 Lakhs) deposit at the offer-acceptance stage.

University of Northampton Application Process

Indian applicants must apply to the University of Northampton through a Principal Regional Representative or a recognised approved agent — direct UCAS submissions from India are treated as invalid for admission processing. The two Principal Regional Representative offices cover North India and South India, and around 20 approved agents (including AECC Global, Gateway Abroad, IDP, and StudyIn) operate across the country.

Steps to Apply to University of Northampton

  1. Shortlist your target programme and confirm the intake and start date on the course page.
  2. Register on the UoN SITS applicant portal. No application fee is charged for direct submissions to UoN.
  3. Contact the North or South India Principal Regional Representative or an approved agent to countersign the application.
  4. Upload academic transcripts, IELTS or PTE score, personal statement, and one signed reference on official letterhead.
  5. Wait for the conditional or unconditional offer letter (five to fifteen working days is typical for complete applications).
  6. Pay the GBP 7,000 (around INR 8.93 Lakhs) deposit before the intake-specific deposit deadline (31 August 2026 for the September 2026 intake).
  7. Receive your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) and apply for the UK Student Route visa.

University of Northampton Offer and Enrolment Timeline

Complete applications generally receive a decision within five to fifteen working days. Offer holders then pay the deposit, receive CAS by 14 September 2026, land in the UK for Welcome Weekend on 19-20 September, complete Induction Week from 21-25 September, and enrol formally by 19 October 2026. Deferrals to January or May 2027 are considered on a case-by-case basis with a written request.

University of Northampton Documents Required

The University of Northampton document set is standard for a UK university and stays consistent across all three taught intakes. Indian applicants prepare the following file pack before opening the SITS portal, since incomplete submissions delay offer processing well past the typical five- to fifteen-day window.

  • Passport bio-page (valid for at least six months beyond planned entry to the UK).
  • Certified Class XII marksheet and passing certificate for UG applicants.
  • Certified bachelor’s degree transcripts and provisional or final degree certificate for PG and MBA applicants.
  • IELTS Academic or PTE Academic score report (issued within the past two years).
  • Personal statement explaining course choice and career direction (300 to 500 words).
  • At least one signed academic reference on the referee’s official letterhead.
  • Curriculum vitae for PG and MBA applicants, listing internships and any work history.
  • Financial proof or scholarship confirmation covering deposit plus first-year fees.
  • Portfolio (Art and Design applicants only) and any subject-specific supplementary documents.
  • Research proposal of 1,000 words (PhD and MPhil applicants only).

Originals of qualification documents are checked at physical enrolment on arrival, so carry hard copies in your hand luggage along with the Arrivals Form.

University of Northampton Acceptance Rate

The University of Northampton does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party analysis of UCAS-derived and published-outcome data estimates enrolment at around 20 percent and the offer rate at 77 to 86 percent for qualified international applicants — meaning most applicants who meet the stated academic and English thresholds receive an offer, with the enrolment funnel narrowing at the deposit and CAS stage.

What the University of Northampton Acceptance Rate Signals

The high offer rate reflects UoN’s access-oriented admissions model, which admits most applicants who meet its stated requirements without a competitive shortlisting stage. The 20 percent enrolment figure reflects deposit conversion, not academic gatekeeping — many offer holders defer, take offers elsewhere, or hit visa or funding gaps at deposit stage.

How Indian Applicants Should Read the University of Northampton Numbers

Indian applicants should treat the offer rate as the meaningful signal for planning: complete applications that clear the 55 percent bachelor’s floor (or 60 percent Class XII floor) with the correct English score are highly likely to receive a conditional offer within two weeks. UoN’s ranking band among UK modern universities feeds into visa credibility interviews, so plan financial documentation carefully rather than optimising for entry chances alone.

Insider note: For UoN, the deadline you actually need to beat is the visa and financial-documentation timeline, not the academic filter. Applicants who miss deposit or CAS windows show up in the enrolment gap, not in offer denials.

UK Student Visa for University of Northampton Applicants

The UK Student Route visa (formerly Tier 4) is the standard pathway for Indian applicants heading to Northampton. Applications open up to six months before your course start date, and Indian nationals typically receive a decision within fifteen to twenty working days of biometrics submission at a VFS Global centre. The visa is granted by UK Visas and Immigration, not by the university, so processing sits outside UoN’s control once CAS is issued.

The core requirements for a UK Student visa are the CAS from UoN, tuberculosis test results from an IOM-approved clinic in India, financial evidence covering first-year tuition minus any deposit paid plus GBP 1,483 (around INR 1.89 Lakhs) per month for up to nine months of living costs, and payment of the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) of GBP 776 (around INR 98,940) per year of study. The application fee itself is GBP 524 (around INR 66,810) when applied from outside the UK.

2026 update: Priority visa processing was suspended for Indian Student Route applicants in mid-2024 and has not been reinstated. Plan the full fifteen to twenty working day timeline into your travel booking, and never book flights before the passport returns with the visa vignette.

Tips for University of Northampton Admissions

The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at University of Northampton and are pitched at the September 2026 window closing on 24 August 2026.

  • Route through the Principal Regional Representative: Indian applicants who apply directly outside the representative network see delays; route via the North or South India office from day one.
  • Beat the informal course-fill window: Popular MSc and BSc courses in Computing, Psychology, and Business Management can fill four to five months before September; apply by April to hold your seat.
  • Book IELTS Academic, not Duolingo: UoN does not list Duolingo as an accepted test, so book IELTS Academic or IELTS for UKVI at least eight weeks before the application deadline.
  • Pay the deposit early to lock CAS: The GBP 7,000 (around INR 8.93 Lakhs) deposit converts your offer into a CAS number; pay by 15 August 2026 to give admissions two weeks of processing slack.
  • Use the Integrated Foundation Year as a fallback: If your Class XII score falls below 60 percent, apply directly to the Foundation Year route rather than losing the intake to a gap year.
  • Front-load the personal statement: UoN’s admissions team reads the statement to differentiate near-identical academic profiles; lead with concrete career direction, not general interest.
  • Check the placement year math for the MBA: Placements add tuition (GBP 1,000, around INR 1.27 Lakhs) and time; only opt in if UK work-experience post-graduation is a firm goal.

University of Northampton Admissions Checklist

The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete in the six months leading up to the September 2026 intake at University of Northampton, sequenced by working-day lead time.

  • Six months out: Book IELTS Academic or PTE Academic and request certified transcripts from your Class XII board or bachelor’s-degree university.
  • Four months out: Contact your Principal Regional Representative or approved agent, shortlist your programme, and open the SITS applicant account.
  • Three months out: Submit your complete application (24 August 2026 is the hard cutoff for September 2026); aim to be inside by 24 May 2026 to avoid rush processing.
  • Two months out: Accept your conditional or unconditional offer and pay the GBP 7,000 (around INR 8.93 Lakhs) deposit; deposit deadline for September 2026 is 31 August 2026.
  • Six weeks out: Collect the CAS letter from UoN (by 14 September 2026), complete the tuberculosis test at an IOM-approved centre, and gather financial evidence.
  • Four weeks out: Submit the UK Student Route visa application and pay the Immigration Health Surcharge alongside biometrics at VFS Global.
  • One week out: Complete the UoN Arrivals Form, confirm accommodation, and book flights only after the visa vignette is stamped in your passport.

University of Northampton admissions reward Indian applicants who work the calendar early. Route through the Principal Regional Representative, clear the IELTS floor first, and treat the deposit and CAS window as the real deadline behind the published application date. Apply by mid-July 2026 for a September start, or shift focus to the January 2027 intake to give visa processing full room.

Overview

I did my Bachelors due to course contents being offered for Marketing and I thoroughly loved the structure and the faculty. Best faculty ever. For my Masters, I came back due to an Alumni scholarship worth 50% which allowed me to resume my studies. I liked that Masters in this university comes with a placement year and I feel a placement year has multiplied the value of my course 10 fold.
