University of Northampton Scholarships for UG Students
The University of Northampton runs one central undergraduate award and one early payment discount for overseas fee-paying admits. The merit scholarship credits automatically after the offer is accepted.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | Deadline | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Northampton International Scholarship (UG) | £2,000, £3,000 or up to £4,000 (INR 5.11 Lakhs) per year off tuition, renewable each year of the degree on progression | Indian passport-holder assessed as overseas fee payer, full-time on-campus BA, BSc, BEng, MEng or LLB offer, Class XII HSC above 60% | Automatic on offer acceptance; next windows cover January 2027 and September 2027 intakes | Automatic consideration on the UCAS or direct application; no separate form |
| Early Payment Discount | £500 (INR 0.64 Lakhs) off first-year tuition, settled as a one-off credit | Overseas fee-paying UG admit who settles the full annual tuition in a single payment before enrolment | Tentative December 15, 2026 for the January 2027 intake; tentative September 1, 2027 for the September 2027 intake | Full fee payment through Flywire or bank transfer before the enrolment date |
Indian UG applicants treat the International Scholarship as the baseline funding move. A BA Business and Management admit at Waterside pays £15,700 (INR 20.07 Lakhs) tuition in 2026/27. The top £4,000 band pulls Year 1 outlay down to £11,700 (INR 14.96 Lakhs).
Progression top-ups matter for budgeting a three-year degree. Indian admits receive the same band at Years 2 and 3, provided academic standing holds. Total tuition support across a three-year BA Business and Management lands near £12,000 (INR 15.34 Lakhs).
Band assignment uses the Class XII percentage on the Indian offer file. Admits with 85% and above route to the top £4,000 band for most non-nursing programmes. Admits between 70% and 85% route to the £3,000 band. Admits between 60% and 70% land the £2,000 band.
Nursing UG applicants cap at the £2,000 band regardless of academic score. The cap applies to BSc Adult Nursing, BSc Mental Health Nursing and BSc Children’s Nursing offers across the Faculty of Health, Education and Society.
The Early Payment Discount does not stack with the International Scholarship on the same fee account. Self-funded admits pick the higher-value International Scholarship by default and skip the £500 route.
For the full UG programme list across the Waterside and Innovation Centre campus, see the University of Northampton overview before locking a UCAS choice.
University of Northampton Scholarships for PG / Master’s Students
Postgraduate funding for Indian admits runs through four routes at the University of Northampton. Three are automatic on admission and the fourth is the Graduate Discount for returning Northampton bachelor’s holders.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | Deadline | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Northampton International Scholarship (PG taught) | £2,000, £3,000 or up to £4,000 (INR 5.11 Lakhs) off first-year tuition on taught master’s programmes | Indian passport-holder, offer for a full-time on-campus MA, MSc, LLM, MEng or MBA at the University of Northampton | Automatic on offer acceptance; covers January 2027, May 2027 and September 2027 intakes | Automatic on offer processing; no separate form |
| International Graduate Scholarship | 30% off tuition fee (approx. £5,249, INR 6.71 Lakhs for MSc Business Analytics) for returning University of Northampton international graduates | Indian passport-holder with a prior Northampton UG degree completed on-campus in the UK, progressing to a taught master’s | Automatic on offer acceptance for the next master’s intake | Automatic on master’s admission; no separate form |
| Early Payment Discount (PG) | £500 (INR 0.64 Lakhs) off first-year tuition, applied as a one-off credit | Overseas fee-paying PG admit who settles the full annual tuition in a single payment before enrolment | Tentative December 15, 2026 (January 2027 intake); tentative September 1, 2027 (September 2027 intake) | Full fee payment through Flywire or bank transfer before the enrolment date |
| Graduate Discount Scheme (20% Alumni) | 20% off full tuition (approx. £3,499, INR 4.47 Lakhs for MSc Business Analytics) for returning Northampton bachelor’s or master’s holders | Indian citizen with a prior UON BA, BSc, LLB, MA, MSc or MEng, enrolling on a full master’s or doctoral programme | Automatic on offer acceptance for the next programme | Automatic on offer processing; no separate form |
The International Scholarship £4,000 band is the standard route for Indian one-year master’s admits with strong UG scores. On MSc Business Analytics at £17,495 (INR 22.36 Lakhs) the net Year 1 bill lands at £13,495 (INR 17.25 Lakhs) after the top band applies.
Reddit Insight: Indian admits report that the £4,000 band credits the student account before CAS issuance when the UG transcript sits above 65% aggregate. Several note that MBA at Northampton Business School stays below the Chevening tuition cap of £22,000. Chevening clears the full MBA fee without a residual balance.
The Graduate Discount Scheme is the strongest route for Northampton bachelor’s alumni returning for a master’s. It credits 20% off the full tuition, which lands at £3,499 (INR 4.47 Lakhs) on MSc Business Analytics. The scheme cannot stack with the International Scholarship on the same fee account.
The International Graduate Scholarship is a separate 30% route reserved for Northampton international graduates. It applies only to overseas-fee master’s offers and credits automatically on admission. The 30% route out-values the Graduate Discount Scheme for returning international alumni.
Alumni and self-funded admits should compare the three stackable pots before locking the fee plan. The International Scholarship at £4,000 beats the £500 Early Payment Discount for non-nursing master’s. For Northampton alumni, the International Graduate Scholarship at 30% beats both routes on MSc and MBA tuition.
For intake cut-off dates, IELTS 6.5 thresholds and the India Office at Faridabad, see the University of Northampton admissions page.
India-Specific Scholarships at University of Northampton
Three routes carry the strongest Indian student track record at the University of Northampton. The International Scholarship is open to every overseas applicant. Chevening is an India citizen award and Inlaks is a merit-and-institution-filtered award.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | Deadline | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Northampton International Scholarship (India merit top-up) | Up to £12,000 (INR 15.34 Lakhs) total across a three-year UG degree, renewable each year on progression | Indian passport-holder, continuous enrolment on a full-time on-campus degree, pass marks at each year-end board | Automatic on each year’s registration | Automatic, no renewal form |
| GREAT Scholarship (India) at University of Northampton | Not offered to Indian passport-holders in the 2026/27 British Council India list; current UON GREAT allocations route to Brunei and Sri Lanka | Indian passport-holders redirect to a UK partner that holds a GREAT India slot for 2026/27 | Tentative December 2026 announcement for the 2027/28 India partner list | Apply to a listed UK GREAT India university; recheck British Council India page each December |
| Chevening Scholarship at University of Northampton (UK Government) | Full tuition up to the Chevening tuition cap of £22,000 (INR 28.12 Lakhs), monthly stipend near £1,500 (INR 1.92 Lakhs), return airfare, arrival allowance | Indian citizen, 2,800 hours of post-UG work experience, offer for a one-year taught master’s at University of Northampton, commitment to return to India for 2 years | Tentative August 4, 2027 opening and October 5, 2027 cut-off for 2028/29 entry (2027/28 cycle closed October 6, 2026) | Chevening online portal, up to 3 UK course choices including University of Northampton |
| Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarship | Up to $100,000 (approx. INR 88 Lakhs) across tuition, living costs, one-way airfare and health insurance | Indian citizen under 30, first-class UG from a top-30 Indian institution, offer from a recognised overseas master’s such as University of Northampton | Tentative March 15, 2027 for 2027 entry | Inlaks Foundation online form plus written study proposal |
Indian admits should rely on the International Scholarship for default funding, with Chevening as the stretch route. The progression top-up adds real value for three-year UG admits. Years 2 and 3 each release a further scholarship credit on the same band.
Priority stacking order for Indian master’s admits at the University of Northampton:
- Chevening (if work experience clears 2,800 hours): full tuition plus living stipend, auto-cancels the £4,000 International Scholarship credit
- International Graduate Scholarship (UON alumni only): 30% tuition cut, worth more than the central International Scholarship for returning overseas graduates
- University of Northampton International Scholarship: baseline £4,000 saving for self-funded admits with no external award
- Inlaks or J N Tata or KC Mahindra: external top-ups to layer on top of self-funded tuition minus the International Scholarship credit
Chevening pays tuition directly to the University of Northampton, so the £4,000 International Scholarship credit cancels for confirmed Chevening winners. The Chevening monthly stipend lands at roughly £1,500 (INR 1.92 Lakhs) across the master’s year. It covers the Northampton living-cost benchmark of £9,207 (INR 11.77 Lakhs) annually.
The University of Northampton sits outside the British Council India GREAT list for 2026/27. Northampton’s current GREAT partner slots route to Brunei and Sri Lanka students on a £10,000 PG award. Indian passport-holders chasing GREAT should recheck the India partner list in December 2026 when the 2027/28 cycle opens.
Inlaks selection favours first-class UG holders from IITs, NITs, top private institutions and recognised Delhi University colleges. Applicants outside that top-30 institution band typically route effort toward Chevening or the Government of India scholarships covered in the external section.
University of Northampton PhD Scholarships
PhD funding at the University of Northampton runs through two tracks for Indian candidates. Project-advertised studentships cover full international tuition plus a UKRI-aligned stipend. Commonwealth Split-Site and Schlumberger support cross-registered research routes.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | Deadline | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Northampton Research Studentships | Full international tuition plus annual stipend aligned to the UKRI rate of £21,383 (INR 27.33 Lakhs) in 2026/27 | First-class UG or taught master’s, project fit with an advertised Northampton studentship in Leather Science, Psychology, Business, Education or Health | Project-specific; recent cycles closed January 20, 2026; tentative January 2027 for the 2027/28 cohort | Direct application to the advertising faculty with supervisor contact |
| Graduate Discount Scheme (PhD) | 20% off full PhD tuition on the overseas fee, each year of registration | Indian citizen with a prior UON bachelor’s or master’s, progressing to a Northampton PhD, DBA or MPhil | Automatic on offer acceptance | Automatic on PhD admission; no separate form |
| Commonwealth Split-Site PhD Scholarship | Full international tuition for the 12-month Northampton portion plus monthly stipend during the UK residency | Indian PhD candidate registered at an Indian institution, project co-supervised by a University of Northampton academic | Tentative October 20, 2026 for the 2027/28 cohort | Nomination through Indian nominating agency, then CSC Central portal submission |
| Schlumberger Faculty for the Future Fellowship | Up to $50,000 (approx. INR 44 Lakhs) per year across tuition and living costs | Indian woman pursuing a STEM PhD, first-class UG or master’s, commitment to return to India for teaching or research | Tentative November 13, 2026 for the 2027 cohort | Separate application through the Schlumberger Foundation portal |
Northampton’s research base concentrates in the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies plus the Faculty of Business and Law. The REF 2021 return rated 56% of research as internationally excellent or world-leading, which underpins the case file for Commonwealth Split-Site and Schlumberger panels.
Contact a potential supervisor before submitting a PhD application. Fully funded studentships at the University of Northampton generally map to active grants and advertised project calls, not central university funding pots. A well-scoped research proposal aligned to a live grant shifts the odds more than a strong CV in isolation.
Indian PhD candidates who do not secure a project studentship should default to the Commonwealth Split-Site route. It funds a 12-month research residency at Waterside while the doctorate remains registered in India. The route suits applied projects with a UK data collection or lab component.
For the active research subject list and faculty structures that support the Commonwealth Split-Site case file, see the University of Northampton programs page.
External Government Scholarships for University of Northampton Applicants
Indian applicants layer external government scholarships on top of any University of Northampton tuition credit. Six routes carry real track record for Northampton master’s admits from India.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | Deadline | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chevening Scholarship (UK Government) | Full tuition up to the Chevening cap of £22,000 (INR 28.12 Lakhs), monthly stipend, return airfare, arrival allowance | Indian citizen, 2,800 hours of post-UG work experience, commitment to return to India for 2 years | Tentative August 4, 2027 opening and October 5, 2027 cut-off for 2028/29 entry | Chevening online portal, up to 3 UK course choices |
| Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship | Full tuition, monthly stipend, return airfare, thesis grant and warm clothing allowance | Indian citizen with first-class UG, commitment to return to India, offer for a one-year taught master’s in a Commonwealth priority area | Tentative October 21, 2027 for 2028/29 entry | Nomination through the Ministry of Education, then CSC Central portal |
| GREAT Scholarship (India) at a partner UK university | £10,000 (INR 12.78 Lakhs) off first-year tuition for a one-year master’s at a listed British Council India partner | Indian passport-holder with a confirmed offer at the listed partner UK university; University of Northampton not on 2026/27 India list | Tentative February 28, 2027 for 2027/28 entry (varies by UK partner) | Direct application to the partner UK university plus proof of GREAT alignment |
| National Overseas Scholarship (Government of India) | Full tuition plus annual maintenance near £15,400 (INR 19.68 Lakhs) plus one-way airfare plus contingency grant | SC, ST, denotified nomadic, artisan or landless labour category with annual family income under INR 8 Lakhs | Tentative March 31, 2027 for the 2027 cohort | Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment online portal |
| J N Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship | Loan scholarship up to INR 10 Lakhs plus gift award up to INR 7.5 Lakhs on academic merit | Indian citizen with confirmed overseas PG offer and strong academic record | Tentative March 22, 2027 for 2027 entry | JN Tata Endowment online portal plus personal interview |
| KC Mahindra Scholarship for PG Studies Abroad | Up to INR 10 Lakhs grant portion with an additional interest-free loan on merit | Indian citizen with confirmed overseas PG offer and documented financial need | Tentative March 31, 2027 for 2027 entry | KC Mahindra Education Trust online application |
The University of Northampton sits inside the Chevening eligible-university list, so every full-time one-year taught master’s at the institution qualifies for a Chevening bid. The applicant must clear 2,800 hours of post-undergraduate work experience and hold a completed bachelor’s at the time of application.
Chevening runs annually competitive at roughly 1,650 global awards and around 65 slots for India. Applicants stack strongest when the personal statement links the Northampton master’s to a defined India-return career objective, ideally with a named employer or sector.
Reddit Insight: Chevening alumni from India report that the 2027/28 cycle closed October 6, 2026 at 4:30 PM IST. Applicants targeting the University of Northampton MBA or MSc Project Management should prepare documents through late 2026 for the next cycle opening August 2027. The portal lets applicants list up to three UK course choices across the same application file.
Chevening tuition cover does not stack with the University of Northampton International Scholarship. Chevening pays tuition directly to the university, which auto-cancels any £4,000 scholarship credit already loaded on the fee account.
Government of India National Overseas Scholarship applicants should submit the Northampton offer letter alongside the ministry application in the March 2027 window. The award funds full tuition on any recognised overseas master’s, including the MSc Computing and the MBA at Northampton Business School.

Likes
- Location in the midlands, offering easy access to major cities
- Modern infrastructure & well-equipped classrooms
- Friendly and amicable professors
Dislikes
- Rankings and Reputation are low compared to other UK universities
- Placement and Employablity support did not meet expectations
- Acceptance of too many students from same nationality/country
- I found my off-campus accommodation via the spareroom app. The entire search process was daunting, as many Asian landlords could be tricky and try to loot your money; hence, it was always advised to go via verified landlords. The key challenge was finding a guarantor in the UK and paying deposit and advance before moving to the UK, which is why it is always suggested to deal with credible landlords.
- Try to stay on campus for the initial 6 months; though its a bit expensive, it is always a safe choice.
Likes
- I like the support regarding CV, mock interviews, and personality/confidence development workshops. All of this helped me in securing the information.
Dislikes
- Some lecturers are too focused on theory instead of imparting practical knowledge (but this is only true for some not all).
I did my Bachelors due to course contents being offered for Marketing and I thoroughly loved the structure and the faculty. Best faculty ever. For my Masters, I came back due to an Alumni scholarship worth 50% which allowed me to resume my studies. I liked that Masters in this university comes with a placement year and I feel a placement year has multiplied the value of my course 10 fold.
