The University of London is one of the oldest and biggest universities in the UK. It started in 1836 and is now a group of 17 independent colleges and schools, like University College London (UCL), King's College London (KCL), London School of Economics (LSE), Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), and others. These colleges are all in London and work together as a “federation”. This means they share the University of London name on degrees, but each federation member runs its own classes, research, and daily operations. Also, all the degrees offered through the University of London are developed by the federation members. They provide the academic direction, prepare all your study materials and assess the degrees.
If you are willing to study in the University of London only, then you have 4 ways to do it:
- Study in person at a teaching center in your country
- Study online
- Study in person in London at The School of Advanced Study campus, OR
- Study in person in Paris
The University of London offers 85+ undergraduate and postgraduate programs. As per Collegedunia Statistics, MBA, Master in Financial Management, Master in Management are the top 3 popular courses of this university among Indian students. The total fees for the Global MBA program is £13,050 (15.45 lakhs).
How the University of London Operates?
The University of London acts like a big family of separate colleges. Each college is its own university with its own leaders, teachers, and buildings. For example:
- UCL focuses on science, medicine, and arts.
- LSE is strong in economics, law, and social studies.
- KCL excels in health, humanities, and global issues.
The central University of London office handles shared things like degree awards, quality checks, and some online programs (called University of London Worldwide). You study at one "home" college but can take classes at others if needed (called intercollegiate study). This setup lets you pick the best college for your interests. Degrees are the same high standard across all, and the federation helps with libraries, events, and support for students from 190 countries.

- Primary reason was London as a location. It also aligned well with my post MBA career goal of working in finance.
- I really like how diverse the school is in terms of race, geography, ethnicity, professional background, personal aspiration. It truly is a global business school, where people from around the world with common goals come together and have a blast!
Dislikes
- Something I dislike about LBS is the cost of attendance. On top of the tuition fee, expect to spend another 50% to cover your living expenses. London is an expensive place. Food, travel, accommodation everything is super expensive and it all adds up!
Overview
Overall, I had a great experience. Wanted to expand my network, get a degree from top business school, and learn broader topic areas from the best faculty in the world. I can confidently say that LBS has exceeded my expectations and beyond.
Campus Life
Plenty of active clubs and activities to participate and engage with whatever your interest area is, there is club for you to get involved and contribute.
Overview
It's simplicity and the environment that supports students friendliness coupled with their track record of academic achievements. My experience at the College is outstanding, great, and one filled with fun.
Campus Life
The WiFi is top notch, libraries are incredibly helpful and the sport, recreational facilities makes everything great.
Overview
I choose my university because it had the perfect blend of theory and practice for the degree that I desired. while researching universities I realized that the University also would give me a large number of opportunities to participate in activities and collaborate on projects with companies that help to broadcast my skills.
Campus Life
As my university is campus-based, all students are able to make the most of campus life. The library is at the center of the campus and is accessible 24/7.
