Colleges Where I Was Accepted

Reason for choosing my college

  • The University of Liverpool offered me a scholarship worth 5K GBP and it was an unconditional offer which means I am not required to take any exams. Another university for which I got an offer was a bit expensive the offer was conditional and they were not providing any scholarships.

Colleges Where I Was Rejected

Reason for Rejection

  • I missed the deadline for the University of Edinburgh. For the University of Bristol, I think my profile didn't match the course requirements. The CV and SOP were not as good as what they were expecting.

Tips to enhance your application

  • It's good to have work experience included in your CV as well as publications. It will stand out in the competition.
  • A strong SOP is always the best and strongest document for applying to any abroad university. Include why you wanted to move, what are your expectations, and what have you achieved that could align with the course you are applying for.
  • Include your extracurriculars as well.

Admission Experience

  • I always wanted to target an English-speaking country and Europe. That is why I chose the UK over any other European country. The University of Liverpool comes under the Russel Group and is one of the oldest establishments. Reputation and rankings are also up to the mark.
  • Liverpool is student-friendly, that's why I chose the city of Liverpool. It's kind of cheap compared to other UK cities. I chose Master In Management (MIM) because I wanted to shift to the management line from my technology line. MIM can offer me that opportunity and exposure. As it is designed for minimum experience grads. The student life here is great.
  • The university offers many resources and assistance in every way possible. It has one of the biggest campuses in the UK.

Class Schedule

9

  • The class schedule is not very hectic for someone who is doing a Master's here. One can easily manage. It usually depends upon the course and how many classes is there. Classes timings usually start from 9 am and can go till 5 pm. But not all the lectures are back to back. Maximum there could be two lectures of 2hr each. There are a lot of Indians and other parts of Asia.
  • One will get plenty of time to do assignments and self-study. But managing daily household work is quite a task. Like cooking, cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping.

Faculty

9

  • The faculty members are great. They are experts in their fields have achieved great results in their academics have graduated from top-tier universities and have great work experience. The faculty-to-student ratio is not something to be worried about. It's good to maintain a relationship with teachers as they can help with jobs as well as recommendations.

Campus Life

9

  • There are a lot of events that happen around the campus. It's probably because of the 100+ society the university has. It's like you name it you have it. The whole year there is something that happens. The university has two libraries with every book in the corner. It also offers study space, individual room, and group study space. One library is open 24/7.

Part Time Jobs

  • Most Indians prefer to work at LFC or Everton FC and also in a warehouse. However, warehouse jobs can be very hectic and are not recommended unless one can get into Amazon. It's not very hard to get a part-time here. Again, college can provide help in finding part-time here. At LFC and Everton, one could get 12 GBP/hr in addition to holiday pay of 12.01%.
  • The university will organize a part-time fair where many employers will come and showcase their job opportunities. It includes Liverpool Football Club, Everton FC, Teach First, UK Gov, etc. There is ruled by the UK government and the minimum wage is set to 11.44 GBP/hr. And from April onwards it's going to be 12.21 GBP/hr. With 20 hours of work per week allowed on a student visa in term time. On holidays, one can work up to 40 hours.

Placement

8

  • There is no on-campus culture here. We have to find a job by ourselves. Salary depends upon the course which you are studying. It's better to research beforehand about the ROI of the course. Again university is very helpful, there is a career studio set up where you can get all the help needed from making job job-ready CV to finding jobs and interviews.

Accommodation

Off Campus
9

  • There is some university accommodation, but it is very expensive. There are quite a few third-party platforms and agents like Student Roost and Uni Accommodation. The only challenging part could be finding a guarantor, but some of the accommodations don't require a guarantor. Like The Railyard and Martyle Court, which is almost an 8-minute walk to the University.
