University of Hull Eligibility for Indian Students
The University of Hull sets eligibility per programme, but the institution-wide floor for Indian applicants is well defined and covered on the country pages. UG entry looks at Class XII from CBSE, CISCE, NIOS, or a recognised state board, and PG entry looks at a three or four year Bachelor’s degree from a UGC-recognised institution.
University of Hull Academic Requirements for Indian Applicants
Academic thresholds run to fairly clear percentages. These are institution-wide floors and specific programmes (especially Nursing, Medicine, and Data Science) can sit higher.

- PG Taught (2:2 route): Bachelor’s at 50 to 55 percent, a UK lower second class equivalent.

University of Hull IELTS Waiver for Indian Students
Indian applicants can apply for an IELTS waiver based on Class XII English marks. The waiver is granted where the applicant has scored 70 to 80 percent in Class XII English from a recognised board (CBSE, CISCE, NIOS, or state boards including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and Maharashtra), with the exact percentage floor set by the programme level. The waiver applies at UG and most PG Taught entry, but not for Nursing, Social Work, or Hull York Medical School.
Insider note: The Class XII English waiver is programme discretionary. Send the transcript and a request via global@hull.ac.uk ahead of your formal application. Getting the waiver confirmed on email first saves a month of back and forth after you have paid your test fee.

University of Hull MBA Admissions
The University of Hull delivers its MBA primarily through Hull University Business School, with two active pathways for Indian applicants: an on-campus Executive MBA and the fully online Global MBA. There is no full-time on-campus MBA at present, and the Global MBA is the more popular route among Indian working professionals.
Hull Global Online MBA Requirements
The Global Online MBA runs as a 2-year part-time programme with three annual intakes in January, May, and September. Total tuition is £14,500 (₹18.48 Lakhs) with a £350 (₹44,618) acceptance fee that is offset against tuition. The next start date is 28 September 2026.
- Standard route: Bachelor’s degree at 2:1 or above (around 60 percent) with three years of postgraduate work experience.
- Experience route: No Bachelor’s degree required if the applicant has around seven years of full-time professional experience, backed by a portfolio.
- English proficiency: IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each skill, or accepted equivalents.
- Interview: Motivation and communication interview at shortlisting, conducted virtually.
Hull Executive MBA Requirements
The on-campus Executive MBA is delivered part-time over two years for candidates already based in the UK or planning to relocate. International tuition sits at around £19,500 (₹24.86 Lakhs) per year with entry requiring a Bachelor’s degree at 2:2 or above and typically three or more years of managerial experience. IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0 is the English floor.
Insider note: Indian applicants who do not hold a Bachelor’s degree can still enter the Global MBA on the seven-year experience route. Send a detailed CV, an employer letter confirming role and tenure, and a portfolio note before formally applying so Admissions can confirm eligibility upfront.
Note: MBA fees, tuition instalments, and interview scheduling may change per cohort. Confirm on the official University of Hull page before applying.
University of Hull PhD Admissions
The University of Hull offers PhD and MPhil research degrees across all four faculties, and the intake is rolling with January, April, September, and January start points across the year. Indian applicants apply through the MyHull portal after identifying a supervisor and drafting a research proposal.
Hull PhD Entry Requirements for Indian Applicants
- Master’s degree at merit level (around 60 percent, a UK Merit equivalent) in a subject aligned with the research area.
- A research proposal of 1,500 to 2,500 words aligned to a supervisor’s expertise.
- IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each skill for most subjects, with Humanities and Law asking 7.0 in Writing.
- Two academic references, typically from Master’s supervisors or faculty.
Hull PhD Funding for Indian Students
International PhD tuition at Hull begins at £20,320 (₹25.90 Lakhs) per year for the 2026 to 2027 academic year for classroom-based research areas, with laboratory research priced higher. Fully funded PhD studentships are advertised through find-a-phd.com and the Doctoral College’s own vacancies page. Where a studentship covers stipend, the standard UKRI minimum stipend of £20,780 (₹26.49 Lakhs) for 2026 to 2027 is offered.
Note: PhD studentship availability, stipend levels, and supervisor capacity may change. Confirm on the official University of Hull Doctoral College page before applying.
University of Hull Application Process
The University of Hull runs two application routes: UCAS for undergraduate degrees and the MyHull direct portal for postgraduate taught and research programmes. Indian applicants can also apply through a Hull-approved education agent in India, which does not change the fees paid to the university.
- Shortlist your course. Confirm intake month, tuition, and any subject prerequisites on the course page.
- Register on the portal. Postgraduate applicants create a MyHull account at the international students page. Undergraduate applicants create a UCAS Hub account.
- Pay the application fee. UCAS applicants pay a UCAS application fee of £22 (₹2,805) for one course or £28.50 (₹3,633) for up to five courses. Postgraduate direct applicants pay no application fee through the MyHull portal.
- Upload documents. Transcripts, English score report, CV, and a personal statement or SOP.
- Track your offer. Hull typically responds within three to four weeks with a conditional or unconditional offer.
- Accept, pay the deposit, request CAS. Accept the offer inside the portal, pay the tuition fee deposit (see the Fees page for the current Indian applicant deposit), and request your CAS.
- Apply for the Student visa once the CAS number arrives from Hull.
University of Hull Offer Decision Timeline
Most Indian PG applicants hear back inside three to four weeks. Complex profiles (waiver requests, alternative qualifications, or seven-year MBA experience route) can take five to six weeks. UG offers via UCAS follow the standard equal consideration timeline for January decisions.
University of Hull Documents Required
Hull’s paperwork list is standard for UK universities, and gathering it in advance is the single biggest delay-cutter Indian applicants can control. The list below covers what a first-time applicant needs to upload.
- Valid passport with at least 18 months’ validity.
- Class X and Class XII marksheets and certificates, notarised English translations if issued in a regional language.
- Bachelor’s transcript and provisional or final degree certificate for PG applicants.
- English test score report (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or LanguageCert) or waiver request based on Class XII English.
- Personal statement or SOP of 500 to 800 words.
- Curriculum Vitae for PG, MBA, and PhD applications.
- Two academic references, or one academic and one professional for MBA applicants.
- Work experience letter for MBA and mid-career applicants.
- Research proposal for PhD applicants.
- Portrait photograph for the student profile.
University of Hull Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
The University of Hull does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Independent estimates place the figure at around 65 to 80 percent, reflecting Hull’s access-oriented admissions posture across most Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes. Highly selective programmes like Nursing and Hull York Medical School sit well below that figure.
What Drives a Hull Offer for Indian Applicants
Hull weighs the transcript first. A Class XII score of 70 percent or a Bachelor’s 2:2 puts an Indian applicant firmly inside the standard offer range for most programmes. English proficiency is the second gate: apply with a valid IELTS score or a documented waiver request. The ranking band Hull sits inside gives a fair sense of comparable UK peers to benchmark against.
Where Applicants Get Rejected
The most common rejection reasons are missing programme prerequisites (Mathematics for Computer Science, Biology for Nursing), a Bachelor’s degree from a non-UGC-recognised institution, and an incomplete English proficiency profile. Hull rarely rejects on the strength of Class XII marks alone.
Insider note: If your Bachelor’s institution is not UGC-approved or the degree is from a distance mode without a full transcript, contact global@hull.ac.uk before applying. Hull’s Admissions team confirms case-by-case whether the qualification maps to a UK Bachelor’s equivalent.
UK Student Visa for University of Hull
Indian students at the University of Hull apply for the UK Student visa, the visa route used by full-time international students on a course of six months or more. Applications are made online through the UK Home Office once the university has issued a CAS. Applicants must show financial evidence covering the first year’s tuition minus any deposit paid, plus £1,136 (₹1.45 Lakhs) per month for up to nine months for maintenance outside London.
Standard steps are: pay the tuition fee deposit to Hull, receive the CAS number, complete the online visa application, pay the visa fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge, submit biometrics at a VFS Global centre in India, and receive the decision (usually within three weeks). Indian applicants can apply up to six months before the course start date.
2026 update: The Immigration Health Surcharge is £776 (₹98,924) per year for students on the Student visa route. Budget this alongside the visa fee when planning your remittance from India, since both must clear before the biometric appointment.
Tips for University of Hull Admissions
The following tips are drawn from Indian applicant patterns at the University of Hull and reflect what typically shortens the offer to enrolment journey.
- Apply early: Aim to submit a full PG application by May for a September intake, keeping room for the deposit and CAS.
- Ask about the English waiver upfront: Email global@hull.ac.uk with your Class XII English percentage before booking an IELTS slot.
- Get your transcripts attested: Ask your Bachelor’s institution for two sets of officially sealed transcripts.
- Stack scholarship applications: Explore funding for Indian students alongside the automatic South Asia £2,000 (₹2.55 Lakhs) UG discount.
- Choose the right MBA route: If you are working full-time in India, the Global Online MBA at £14,500 (₹18.48 Lakhs) is often more cost-effective than the on-campus Executive route.
- Confirm the fee deposit early: Indian applicants for September 2026 pay a higher deposit than the standard rate. Confirm the exact amount when accepting the offer.
University of Hull Admissions Checklist
The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete in the weeks leading up to a Hull application deadline.
- 10 weeks before deadline: Shortlist courses and confirm English requirement, book IELTS or PTE if needed.
- 8 weeks before deadline: Request Class X, Class XII, and Bachelor’s transcripts from your school and university.
- 6 weeks before deadline: Draft your SOP and secure two academic references.
- 4 weeks before deadline: Submit the MyHull application (PG) or the UCAS application (UG) after a final proofread.
- Within 2 weeks of offer: Accept the conditional or unconditional offer and pay the tuition fee deposit to trigger the CAS request.
- Post CAS: Book biometrics at a VFS Global centre, pay the visa fee and Immigration Health Surcharge, and prepare arrival paperwork.
The University of Hull rewards Indian applicants who move early, especially against a tight September window. A clean transcript profile, a confirmed English score or waiver, and a paid deposit before mid-August are the three levers that get a CAS out on time for a September 2026 start.

- During my time, we had online lectures and we were going only 1 day in a week to attend practicals which was quite disappointing.
- The syllabus did not cover the topic in the deep. It only gave high level knowledge.
- The city is boring and quiet.
Scholarship
- There are different scholarships available for the master's, but I did not get one. I know one of my friends ' friends who got a scholarship of 10000 pounds, but this kind of scholarship was given to a very limited number of students. I think for the master's 5 students who get the scholarship every year, the amount can be different then the above-mentioned one.

- No scholarship received from the college as such. Everything was from my personal expenses and it was a great experience looking back and am happy to have made a great decision to join the university.

- No, there wasn't any scholarship for the program. The program was open to applicants with commonwealth scholarships and stuff like that which home countries' governments pay. for, but I didn't see any of my classmates on scholarship or grants.
- There is no TA/RA system in Europe and UK for master's hence there isn't a part time earning from university. The department will post voluntary paid work but that is only for specific weeks or days so that can't be relied upon as a regular source of income.
