- During my time, we had online lectures and we were going only 1 day in a week to attend practicals which was quite disappointing.
- The syllabus did not cover the topic in the deep. It only gave high level knowledge.
- The city is boring and quiet.
Course Curriculum
- My course, MSc in AI and Data Science, was a mix of Theoretical and practical work. The positive aspect was the way teachers interacted with the students. They were very polite and helpful.

- On average, 30 people were in the class.
- The number of Indians was around 60 percent of the total count.
Admission Experience
-
I applied to the following universities:
- University of Hull - Shortlisted
- Birmingham City University - Shortlisted
- Nottingham Trent University - Shortlisted
- Teesside University - Shortlisted
- I got confirmed admission in the University of Hull as It was very affordable.
- I did not get any rejection from any university that I applied to.
- I did not apply to other higher rank University as my Grades were comparatively lower.
- I chose the University of Hull due to its ranking and affordable fees.
- In the admission process, I applied on the University website along with the statement of purpose and my IELTS score.
- For admission, the eligibility criteria are as follows
- 4 years of Bachelor's degree
- 6.5 bands IELTS
- The admission process is simple and straightforward. I did not receive any challenges. I applied in February 2021 and got the offer letter within a week.
- At my time, there was onlythe September intake available, and that is why I chose that. Since I had applied in February 2021, it did not take long to be offered.
- I applied in February 2021. I got an offer within a week of my application. I deposited the token fees to get the cash letter in March and got the CAS letter in March 2021. That was the whole process.
Faculty
- The faculty-to-student ratio was around 15. I would say the ratio was sufficient for the batch of students. Many of the lectures were online, so it did not matter a lot.
- Yes, the Faculty were helpful by guiding the students to the right direction of job hunting.
- I would say all the faculty were nice and reachable. They were available most of the time. Students could reach them by email and send them their query.
Campus Life
- The University has one campus in Hull. The University has all the facilities, like a Medical, a library, sports ground.
- It has one nightclub, which is the heart of the university, and I enjoyed my time over there.
- There are different sports a student can take part in. Also, there are many on-campus events that happen to increase student interaction.
- I loved my time on campus.
Part Time Jobs
- Getting a TA/RA/DA is highly competitive, and getting one is not an easy task. Only two people got it from my batch. The pay rate was just over the minimum wage. On campus opportunities were very less, but one person can work in a pub or the Library. The pay was very basic, and minimum wage was given. The maximum hours of work allowance per week were 20 hours.
- Mostly indian students prefer to work in a restaurant on minimum wage. There are other jobs as well, like working in a care home, Lidl, Tesco, Etc. The process of getting a part-time job was easy; apply with a resume if you are interested in the job. Generally interview is a formality for part-time jobs, and skills are also not required to get the part-time job. Many stores also accept resumes and allow offline job applications.
Placement
- Almost everyone gets the job within 6 months of completion, but the field might not be the same as what they studied.
- The salary range can be from 32 thousand pounds to 45 thousand pounds.
- To find a job, Indeed and LinkedIn are helpful. There is no campus recruitment, but a networking portal is there. The placement experience of my batch was average, as not all the students got the job they wanted.
Accommodation
- I used an online platform to find the accommodation. The monthly rent was 350 pounds.
- STUDENTS might need a guarantor to rent a property.
- Future students can see the online platform to rent. It will be easy and affordable.
- The university was only a walkable distance from my accommodation. Hardly 500 meters away.
- Most of the Indian students live nearby to the campus.
Exams
- IELTS is required to get the offer letter.
- The necessary documents are as follows
- 10th Marksheet
- 12th Marksheet
- Bachelors Certificate
- Statement of purpose
- Letter of recommendation
- IELTS certificate
- There was no interview taken during the admission process. Also, some people might get waived off on IELTS based on their 12th-grade English marks.
- That was all the documents needed for admission to the University of Hull.
Fees
- Fees at the University of Hull for a Master's in AI and Data Science were around 9000 pounds. It includes tuition fees only, and I did not take college accommodation.
- The fees can be paid semester-wise and yearly.
- My rent was around 350 pounds per month, and including all the expenses, I was spending 600 pounds monthly, other than fees.
- I was living near the campus, so I used to walk to the university.
Scholarship
- There are different scholarships available for the master's, but I did not get one. I know one of my friends ' friends who got a scholarship of 10000 pounds, but this kind of scholarship was given to a very limited number of students. I think for the master's 5 students who get the scholarship every year, the amount can be different then the above-mentioned one.
