Colleges Where I Was Accepted

Reason for choosing my college

  • The teaching faculty in the college is highly experienced and well qualified.
  • In terms of curriculum perspective, the college offers well-structured courses to meet the industry standard, giving a necessary overview of the challenges that we might face. And also in terms of financial basis, the fees were less comparatively.

Colleges Where I Was Rejected

Reason for Rejection

  • These are some of the top universities in the country, belonging to the Russell Group.
  • The selection process is highly competitive with candidates chosen based on their academic background, experience in the selected field and overall performance.

Tips to enhance your application

  • The acceptance rate is actually good. If you have a solid SOP and IELTS score, the chance of being accepted is high.
  • I don't have any tips exactly. Going through an agency makes it easier for us as they will handle everything.

Admission Experience

  • I choose Hull for its strong academic reputation, excellent student support and affordability compared to other UK cities.
  • The course offers good programs and my course aligned perfectly with my career goals.
  • Hull provides a good student life with cultural attractions and career opportunities. A good amount of part-time jobs are available.
  • My experience was enriching- engaging academics, active extracurricular activities and a welcoming campus community. The university had clubs inside the campus with parties every Wednesday.

Class Schedule

8

  • The number of classes would depend on the course. I had 3 classes a week.
  • Classes would be between 9 and 5, depending on the faculty. Average strength again depends on the course.
  • During my time, the class strength was 140. The number of Indians in Hull was a bit less when I joined, compared to other colleges for Masters courses. But now the situation would be different.
  • Assignment and self-study time would be based on your part-time and leisure time.

Faculty

8

  • There were 2 or more Indian faculties and the head of the logistics department is an Indian. She is really helpful and supportive. They seldom help regarding part-time jobs, but for full-time jobs, one can get their references.
  • The faculty is pretty experienced and helpful as well, even during dissertation times.

Campus Life

9

  • Sports and extracurricular activities are given importance at the university. Well-maintained football, basketball fields, gym and other sports amenities. They have competitive college and university teams.
  • The university has a club and student union on the premises. They conduct parties every Wednesday and during special events.

Part Time Jobs

  • I worked at McDonald's for a year. It was a steady job, pretty decent and you get proper and fixed pay. You can either do a proper NI job or go for cash in hand and make more money.
  • But for cash-in-hand jobs, you do more hours and it could be tiring and possibly affect your assignments and projects. Just check online for NI jobs and word of mouth or references for cash in hand jobs.
  • Part times are not that hard to find, honestly. Cash-in-hand jobs and NI jobs are available.
  • In NI jobs, the basic pay rate was 10 quid an hour and we were allowed to work for 20 hours only per week. 40 hours during semester breaks.
  • Cash in hand jobs, like the name suggests, you do it as much as you want. Usually everyone gets part-time jobs.

Placement

1

  • Oh, that's hard to say. Getting a full-time job is hard sometimes. A lot of luck is involved.
  • Some times you get a job and sponsorship; some times the company may not be able to sponsor you. It all depends and like I said, a lot of luck is involved.
  • If you are a fresher, the average salary would be anywhere between 20k and 22k quid based on your role. For IT and skilled work, it could be more. LinkedIn and Indeed can be used to land jobs. No placement service for Masters.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • Yes, again, online platforms are the best way to get good accommodation or word of mouth.
  • I used Unicom accommodations. They are pretty decent and good service. Would recommend them. Challenges is the service they offer after you get the accommodation.
  • Finding one is not that hard; there are multiple agencies that would help you.
