- The campus is beautiful and big, everything is spaced out really well
- There is Housing on campus hence making it very easy to go for classes
- The facilities in college are amazing, with Multiple food outlets and study spaces, additionally the lectures theatres are nice and big
Dislikes
- Difficult to locate places sometimes since they cannot found be on google maps sometimes
- Even though there is support for everything, responses can be slow sometimes
- They do not offer on campus placement opportunities
Campus Life
- The college just has one campus located in falmer, the entire university is located in falmer
- Facilities: library, cricket/football grounds, tennis courts, padel courts, basketball and badminton courts, 2 gyms on site, 3 canteens, 1 gp office, multiple study areas, 5 common rooms, 2 bars and gaming sites
- Popular events: freshers week (clubbing events, food events, movie nights and game nights) and societies fair.
- There are multiple societies that one can join in order to play sports or join cultural committees; for example i am part of the south asian society (SASS) that does events like diwali, holi etc, thats where i met most of my friends.
Fees
- Fees for one year: 23,150 pounds total for 3 years: 69,450 pounds
- Hostel or living – 1 year cost: 12,000 pounds; 3 years: 36,000 pounds
- Living cost – 300-500 pounds per month
- Fees are split semester-wise, with 3 breakdowns in september, january, march. there is also an option to pay in full if you prefer that.
- My monthly expenses come up to around 350 pounds; the bus costs 3 pounds one way to go anywhere unless you get a bus pass for 3 months (which in my opinion is a very smart option if you travel frequently). Food/groceries can cost 20-30 pounds on average for a bimonthly shop. outings including restaurants and clubbing, can cost 150 pounds per month if you go out frequently. The current rent is 950 pounds per month because it is student accommodation. However, cheaper options are available.

Dislikes
- Limited Career Events for International Students: Some job fairs and networking sessions were more UK- centric.
- Accommodation Costs: Housing near campus was relatively expensive.
- Shorter Term Structure: Fast-paced modules left limited for depper exploration of topics.
Campus Life
- The University of Sussex has a vibrant campus in Brighton with excellent facilities, including a large library, sports center, and medical services. Popular events include the annual Summer Ball and Sussex Students Union festivals. There are numerous clubs - sports, music, drama, and societies - offering rich extracurricular engagement.

Likes
- Faculty : Student ratio is healthy
- For masters students, there are minimal number of classes which gives them the opportunity to do/learn many other things
- For PhD students, there is a high level of independence to do their own research or work around their own course structure
Dislikes
- For PG Taught courses, Limited contact hours is both a blessing and a curse. For students who are not used to self-learning (which is most Indian students), it's a huge curse as most of the learning is expected to be through your own research
- For PhD-level courses, the independence comes at a heavy cost which takes a while for students to realize that ownership of their course
- There are far fewer "induction" programs that will help students (particularly international students) get fully integrated into the university. This is less of an administration problem as they keep trying more of a cultural problem on a campus with such diverse set of students. It's almost impossible to feel organised.
Campus Life
- My uni has only 1 campus. In Brighton. Brighton is a beach city. Summers are beautiful. Very touristy city.
- Campus has a huge library open more than 20 hours on most days. Sports facilities include Badminton, Cricket, Hockey, Tennis, Table Tennis, Gym, Volleyball, Football, basketball and several other sports.
- Although there are some medical facilities on campus, they are run by the NHS (to the best of my knowledge). It's not easy to get an NHS appointment. Even in cases where you have panic attacks, it takes hours for the NHS to treat you. Sometimes, it feels like you're almost by yourself when you are sick. You can't get an appointment for fever or any such ailment for weeks together. This is not a Sussex problem. This is a UK-wide problem. NHS appointment dates are abysmal.
- There are several discrete events that happen on campus for different communities. One World Week and Climate Justice weeks have some interesting stuff. There will generally be a club for every nationality/religion/culture.
- While Indian clubs are generally not well-funded, unlike other clubs which have a lot of continuity and history, it varies from year to year. Every sport will have a club and a college team along with respective practice/coaching hours. You can become a part of Sussex teams.
Fees
- Usually the tuition fees for taught courses are about £25000 for a 1-year course. Accommodation fees vary from year to year and depending on the accommodation type as well. My accommodation on campus cost me an average of £10000 per year. Brighton is one of the most expensive cities after london. Fees are usually expected in 2-3 instalments.
- Other expenses: Groceries would cost me around £200-400 per month. Bus and transport: £80-100 per month. Takeaways: 50-100, because I would rarely eat outside.

- Campus of the university is the best part, you can really work from anywhere you will feel always energised to work and keep reaching your goal. Environment really affects the mind.
Dislikes
- Duration should be increased atleast for 1 years 5 months instead of 1 year
Campus Life
- It was a really great experience with the campus. It's very huge and green, and ofcourse best campus I could say. It has hiking, which I enjoyed alot, then there is the library on campus, the tech lab, and then cricket tournaments keep going, tennis and football.
- It's one of the most played and best games at the university because it has 2 grounds and there is also rugby on the campus, so those who do bachelors can enjoy these games.

- The marking team Striking at the result time lead to the delaying of results, which caused a bit of anxiety among students. This could have been handled a bit better in terms of the communication that occurred.

The interdisciplinary approach to learning was refreshing—it made me see connections between subjects I never thought of before. The campus itself is gorgeous, surrounded by greenery. Sussex has clubs such as the south asian society, business/economic society/ music society, psychological society and many more providing exposure towards different cultures as well as recreational and educational activities. It also hosts events such as house hunts, meet ups and guest speaking sessions for students to gain knowledge and to help them. The infrastructure is diverse with a mix of old and new buildings proving a range of on campus accommodations and a well equipped library with wifi throughout the campus.
Overview
Because I liked that it was in Brighton and the course was extremely interesting to me. I get to learn contemporary issues that relate to my interests as well as gain skills that employers are keen for students to have. I also heard really good things about it and upon visiting really like the atmosphere of the campus.
Fees
The fees were 9000 (UK Limit) a year in 2016 before being bumped up to 9250 (UK Limit) for 2017 and 2018. This was borrowed from the Student Finance England department and paid upfront by them, for students to repay upon earning 25000 in their first job. Maintenance loans were also given out, depending on the income of your parents.
Overview
I liked it's close proximity to my home town and have always enjoyed going to Brighton. The university has a good reputation and good job prospects also and seemed like the ideal fit for me at the time.
Fees
The fee structure is 9250 a year and I am currently on a 3-year course. I opt for a placement that will cost an additional 2000.
