University of Hull Rankings 2026

The table below shows the University of Hull’s global rankings in 2026 across major ranking systems.
| Ranking Agency | 2026 Rank |
|---|---|
| QS World University Rankings | #526 |
| THE World University Rankings | #501-600 |
University of Hull’s main campus is located between Leeds and Sheffield (with both approximately 60 minutes by car). Manchester is about 2 hours away, and Birmingham and Newcastle are around 2 hours and 20 minutes away from Hull.
If affordability and a low-key, supportive campus are priorities, Hull seems worth it based on Reddit reviews. Many alumni also rate it highly for value and life quality. However, if prestige, top-tier teaching, or a busy city matter more, consider alternatives. Overall, Hull is portrayed as a solid choice for practical, cost-conscious students.
FAQs
Ques: Is Hull a safe city, and what is student life like?
Ans: Hull is generally considered student-friendly and affordable, with most students living on or near campus and in nearby areas like Kingston upon Hull city center. While, like any UK city, some neighbourhoods are quieter than others, the main campus and student zones are viewed as safe, and the university provides support services and managed accommodation. Student life is described as low-key but social, with a busy campus and lower day-to-day costs easing financial pressure.
Ques: Are part-time job opportunities available for international students?
Ans: Part-time work is available, mainly in retail, hospitality, and campus-based roles, though opportunities are more limited than in larger cities such as London or Birmingham. That said, Hull’s low cost of living (the lowest among major UK student cities) means students are less dependent on part-time income to cover basic expenses.
Ques: Is the University of Hull academically strong and worth it for international students?
Ans: Reddit users often describe Hull as a “well-respected but underrated” mid-tier university, particularly strong in science, engineering, computer science, law, and selected business programs. While it lacks Russell Group prestige, it is widely seen as good value for money, with outcomes depending heavily on course choice and individual effort.
Ques: Does Hull’s lower prestige affect graduate job prospects?
Ans: Hull’s limited global brand recognition may matter for highly competitive employers. But many graduates in tech, logistics, and applied business fields report solid outcomes. Reddit discussions suggest that skills, internships, and work placements play a bigger role than university ranking. It makes Hull a practical option for students focused on affordability and employability rather than elite status.

- The syllabus did not cover the topic in the deep. It only gave high level knowledge.
- The city is boring and quiet.
Campus Life
- The University has one campus in Hull. The University has all the facilities, like a Medical, a library, sports ground.
- It has one nightclub, which is the heart of the university, and I enjoyed my time over there.
- There are different sports a student can take part in. Also, there are many on-campus events that happen to increase student interaction.
- I loved my time on campus.
Fees
- Fees at the University of Hull for a Master's in AI and Data Science were around 9000 pounds. It includes tuition fees only, and I did not take college accommodation.
- The fees can be paid semester-wise and yearly.
- My rent was around 350 pounds per month, and including all the expenses, I was spending 600 pounds monthly, other than fees.

Likes
- Great infrastructure, Better education
- Skilled staff and teachers ,Change in way of learning
- Different ways of learning and smart teaching
Dislikes
- Nothing comes to mind as the process and way of teaching the students was exceptionally well and they made sure that every student gets the idea of the subjects to be studied and the process required with live examples
Campus Life
- There were various campus buildings inside the university dedicated to medical, engineering, finance ,etc. madam turner was the cafeteria name which we used to go to for food and beverage
- The facilities provided were all library, sports facilities with equipment and medical support and an ambulance on the go. The college even had a pub and night place for students within premises.cultural events were there wherein we used to bond with other students and play sports like cricket, gym, badminton etc
Fees
- Semester wise fees are calculated and you have to pay in pounds my total monthly breakup was of 30,000 pounds in total and the college provided me the residence in the same.the other expenses of personal expense like shopping and grocery depends on person to person and it is typically in a range of 100 pounds for a month.
- Again it depends on the choice of food and quality of the same.

Likes
- Library and the collection of resources
- Experience of faculty members
- Bloomberg terminals and access to other licensed software if needed
Dislikes
- Ambience from the town center or major industries
- Lack of exposure to North America in terms of learnings and applications
- Labs not being 24x7
Campus Life
- My university has a single campus, which is quite big and has all the facilities that a student can dream from 24 hours library to engineering labs with mainframe computers and further for sports we had a rugby field, swimming pool, volley ball, football, tennis etc overall we had more than 100 sports and activity clubs available on campus.
- There was not much of a fest culture in my university but more of a pub night on a Wednesday where we would have karaoke and sort of like a mini night club with discounted drinks and food for students.
Fees
- Tuition was 9750 GBP which was for the whole year, payable in 3 trimesters and my hostel was 7200 GBP with kitchen sharing. This was payable across 8 months For groceries to cook food you can estimate 150-200 GBP this changes with the city living in. For transportation another 100 GBP is sufficient as local buses have discounts for students and even on trains it is 1/3rd off. There is no mess service like indian colleges so you are yourself responsible for cooking your meals
- If going out once a while with friends you can factor in 50-60 GBP depending on the location

- Diverse and inclusive environment for all backgrounds
Dislikes

Campus Life

- The university has a club and student union on the premises. They conduct parties every Wednesday and during special events.

Overview
Only one I got, I did not receive any response from the other Universities.
Campus Life
Amazing, the sports were outstanding, the completions and the infrastructure out of this world.
