Bitter-sweet Experience of NIT Jamshedpur

Personally speaking this college is quite good. Barring the infrastructure, everything is up to the mark. I would suggest anyone to go for it. One can spend one of their best four years of their life.

Course curriculum is outdated. Video lectures from internet help to maintain balace. Two exams are held per semester - mid sem (30 marks) and end sem (50 marks). 20 marks for general assessment and assignment. Labs also has marks weightage in the form of lab manual and viva.

Placements are excellent at NIT Jamshedpur. 150+ companies core and non-core, come for recruitment. Every branch has at least 90% placement with some students bagging double offers. For internship, not many companies come here but the ones coming often provide PPO to selected candidates.

4 main events are held - Culfest, cultural fest of NIT Jamshedpur, Ojass, techno-management fest, Alumini Meet and Urja, sports fest. Students come from other colleges to compete and win lucrative prizes and goodies.

Fee structure for General candidates is 88000 + 16500 per semester. For SC and St students, no tution fee is levied. Additionally, students whose family income is less than 1 lakh, can avail fee remission policy.

Students, whose family income is less than 1 lakh can opt for fee remission policy in which their tution fees is remissioned. There is also a scholarship bases on CGPA for students from economically weaker sections.

Labs are well maintained and well equipped. Some labs are outdated though. Extra curricular activities include joining varoius clubs , teams or sports. There are 5 technical teams and various cultural clubs which one can join based on interest.

Hostel is the main attraction at NIT Jamshedpur. Right from 1st year single room are provided with own bed, cupboard, table and chair. There is no electricity or water problem. LAN is provided fro internet connection.

Seniors are helpful. They provide useful tips regarding internship and placement. They also provide books which are of no use to them. Alumini network of NIT Jamshedpur is quite rich. Alumini meet is held annually where several aluminis are invited to share their experience.

Admission is on the basis of General or Category rank (if any) obtained as a result of appearing for JEE Main Examination. JOSAA handles the admission process. Colleges are assigned based on our choice and it's cut-off.

Faculty is great. Most of them are either pursuing their PHD or have already obtained it. They complete the course within time and also clears doubts. Extra classes may be taken if some course is left.
