Review of IIT Bhubaneswar as Alumni

The institute on the whole need to improve on various things. Most of the efforts regarding academic, extra-curricular, research, development, etc fields are often made by students who rarely receive support from institute or Management. The unity among the student body and they communication is to be appreciated and is further developed every year.

Over all curriculum is good, but still need to be improved to meet the technology outside a book. Most of the curriculum is the same being followed from few years. They can be revised and improved for each couple of years. Few non- domain which are added by institute each year to curriculum can be avoided to save time which can be invested in domain related courses.

Three fests - Wissenaire (techfest), Alma fiesta (cul-fest), E - summit and major festivals like Diwali, Ganesh Chathurdhu and Dussehra. Independence Day, Republic day. Technical week and cultural week at the end of academic year.

Expensive. 2 major Scholarships (MCM & CSSS) are available based on Income and Merit, which are awarded to 25-30% of total student strength and has to be renewed yearly that wave off 100% tution fee and additional benefits depending upon the scholarship availed and factors applicable.

There are no dedicated from grounds for sports. One large ground has been made as an all- purpose field for each sport. So the access to it very less. Various extra-curricular activities are available. Labs are sufficient for academics. But for research it still needs further development.

Hostels are good. Facilities are good as well. The only downside is that too many restrictions are placed on student activities (kinda gives a vibe of daycare centre. hehe). The maintenance and facilities provided again depends on the kind of hostel in charge responsible for it (as there are irresponsible ppl in each institute).

Seniors or Alumni are the most helpful people in the campus as they are easily available at any moment and have similar experiences. Their suggestions and feedback had been of great help during the entire course.

All admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs are done to two-level all-India entrance exam conducted by JOSAA. The exams are JEE Mains, JEE Advanced. Qualifiers of Mains are allowed to attend Advanced. There are good and experienced professors and beginners as well. Overall experience is dependent on the prof you get to interact with. While few are exceptional in guidance, there are people with opposite features as well.
