Course Curriculum Overview
The cirriculum is primarily governed by Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidhyalaya (RGPV), the state technical university. It covers the fundamental branches like CSE(AI&ML), Data Science , the institute includes specific subjects like Neural Networks and Predictive Modelling to align with modern trends. Teachers are generally described as approachable and supportive, especially for students who show regural interest and maintain good attendance. The college follows a semester- based system. Each semester typically includes two mid semesters exams (internals) followed by the final RGPV university exam.Difficulty level of mis sems are manageable and usually based on classroom notes. The final university exams are moderate difficult,Students reprt that consistent study 10-15 days before the exam is usually sufficient to score well.
Placement Experience
In my collge Students typically become eligible to participate in campus recruitment drives from the 7th Semester(start of the 4th year). However , the collge starts preparation much earlier through Campus Recruitment Training(CRT) and soft skills classes, which often begin as early as the 1st and 2nd emester to ensure students are industry-ready. Total Offers:For the 2024-2025 cycle, the institute reported over 300 to 450+ offers across various branches. Key Companies: IT/Software:TCS(Top recruiter), Infosys , Wipro , Capgemini , Cognizant ,HCL , Accenture, Cisco , Tech Mahindra Netlink ,Jaro education , Logical Softtech , KD provission , Kadel labs , Blueflames and many more. Total Companies Visited: Over 200+ companies (including 150+ core companies). The salary trends vary significantly between on-campus mass recruitment and off-campus offers. Verage package 5.0 - 9.0 LPA. Approximately 75% to 84% of eligible students get placed. The CSE and IT branches see the highest success rates(often 80%+), while core branches like Mechanical and Civil focuses more on the core companies placements. I got an offer at cognizant during my college so currently I am not looking for the higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure at Oriental Institute Of Science and Technology (OIST) ,Bhopal is resonable compared to other orivate engineering colleges in Madhya Pradesh. For B.tech courses, the yearly tuition fee is 96000 per year in my time , students have to pay one-time admission and registration charges of around 5000 ruppees , in which 2000 ruppees is considered as caution money and 1500 is for welcome kit and rest 1500 is for development fee. Lab and library fees are usually included in annual fees. The total fee for the complete 4-year B.tech course comes to around around 3-3.2 lakhs. The fees have shown a slight increase over the years, but it is not very drastic and remains affordable for middle-class students. OIST also provides scholarships under the MP Government schemes, such as Post Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC studens.Merit-cum-Means scholarships, and Tuition Fee Waiver(TFW)for wligible students. The fee structure may vary slightly for different categories like General,OBC,SC,ST as per government norms.

Admission
Choosing a college is a major decision, and for many students OIST Bhopal, the choice often comes down to abalance between legacy, regional repution, and practical constraints. Students typically compare OIST with other top private colleges in Madhya Pradesh such as LNCT or VIT Bhopal. My rank falls in the 1.5 Lakh to 5 Lakh range, OIST becomes a primary choice. It offers the same RGPV degree as the government colleges but with a more structured trainig program for private placements. The admission process is centralized and follows the guidelines of the Directorate of Technicial Education(DTE), Madhya Pradesh. Qualifying exams: 10+2 with Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics(PCM). Minimum Marks:45% aggregate in 12th Accepted Exams:JEE Main is the primary and most preferred exam. Admissions are also possible based on 12th-grade merit during later rounds or through college level counselling(CLC) phase. While cutoffs fluctuate yearly on the basis of ranks students get their branch.
Faculty
The faculty members atOIST,Bhopal are generally supportive and approachable,The faculty-to-student ratio is decent, allowing students to interact with teachers both inside and outside the classroom. Most faculty members have good academic knowledge and teaching experience, especially in core engineering subjects. The relationships between faculty and students is friendly, and mentorship is provided when requires. However, teaching quality can vary amoung faculty members, and few rely more on theoretical teaching rather than practical exposure. The course is designed as per RGPV guidelined, with a balnced mix of theory ,labs, internal assignments, and semester-end examinations. Each semester usually includes two internal tests, assignments, lab evaluations and one final university exam. The exam system is moderateky difficult, and students who attend classes regularly and prepare consistently can clear exams without much difficulty.
Night Life
As a day scholar at OIST Bhopal, my nightlife experience is less about campus-bound activities and more about how you and your friends transition from a structured academic day to the vibrant social hubs of Bhopal. As a day scholar, your access to campus facilities is usually tied to the standard operational hours. Academic & Campus Hours:The college generally operates from 9:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M Cafeterias: The main canteen and the nescafe booth are primary hubs during the day . Inside the campus in my whole college life the main canteen and the oist lawns with beautiful flowers and greenery is the favourite spot during my days. Outside the campus there are some places like Prabhatam Plaza,One more sip cafe which is the most popular spot for day scholars.
