What Students Say
Likes
- The only aspect of the college which I like is the weather, environment and mountains covering it. Apart from it, the college does not offer much to like it.
- The engagement within campus is good as it is a residential campus, and the total strength being fixed and adequate, people are able to communicate and maintain harmony with each other.
- The faculty management is well, but the visiting faculty is very good. Engagement with the faculty members is overall good.
Dislikes
- The things I dislike is the college crowd, as the college provides too much reservation to Maharashtra students and reserved categories which makes the college environment not fruitful.
- The things I dislike is the interaction of administrative powers to the faculty members which makes both the things hamper with each other and faculties take unfair advantage of them.
- I dislike the college location in terms of connectivity to city and recreational activities which I think every major college faces
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) course as I wanted to take corporate field after completing my law degree. The curriculum is well designed which prepares for real world applications and further academic pursuits. The areas for improvements in the Course curriculum is mainly for the teaching side, apart from it is well updated. The frequency of exams is every 45 days which is Mid term and End term. Projects and Viva voce are also their for total marks.
Internships Opportunities
The college offers decent internship opportunities, but most of the are secured through student-driven efforts rather than direct camoys assignments. Students usually intern during every semester break with law firms, NGOs, legal aid organisations, advocates and government bodies. Coomon places where 1st and 2nd years of my college intern are District courts, High Courtss, small law firms and legal research organisations. Typical task include legal research, drafting notices, preparing case summaries, assisting during client meetings, preparing case summaries and assisting during client meetings, and observing court proceedings. Overall internships help students build practical skills, understand real-world legal work and improce emplyability through hands on experience even though campus provided internships are limited
Placement Experience
Placements at my college start from the final year, and students become eligible in the 9th semester. A few law firms and organizations visit, offering limited internships and PPOs, but campus placements are not very strong yet. Only a small percentage of students get placed through campus and packages vary usually lower than top NLUs. Most students rely on internnship, litigation opportunities, or competitive exams for careers after graduation. After my degree, I plan to build my career in litigation and explore opportunities in policy or government roles.
Fees and Financial Aid
MNLUA follows a structural annual fee system that includes tuition fees, admission and registration charges, caution/security deposits, development and examination fees, student activity charges, user charges and hostel fees with the exact amount varying for Maharashtra domicile and outside Maharashtra students. For the year 2025-2026, the fees for Maharashtra students was about 2.75 lakh and for Outside Maharashtra students, students pay approximately 3.22 lakh. But from the second year onwards, only the recurring components apply-tuition, development fees, user charges and hostel fees which brings the annual fee to 2.4 lakh for Maharashtra students and 2.9 lakh for outside maharashtra students. Over the complete 5 years, the total fees for Outside Maharashtra general category student will be approx 15 lakhs exculding mess charges. The University does not provide internal scholarships, but state or reserved categories fess are at huge major. Financial aid for reserved category, Madhya Pradesh Medhawi category and other categories.
Campus Life
Campus life at my college is friendly and supportive, with a good balance of academics and social activities. We have annual fests like Aarambh (cultural) and Lex Fiesta (academic/ tech-legal), usually held between February and April, which brings the whole campus together. The library is well stocked with references materials, textbooks and online journals like SCC online and Manupatra making research easily accessible. Classrooms have projectors, smart boards, Wi-Fi, and spacious seating. Students regularly participate in sports such as football, cricket and badminton along with moots, debates and cultural events. There are active student-run clubs for mooting, debating, wiritng and cultural activities, and legal aid. This helps students build confidence find peer groups and stay engaged beyond academics.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are simple but comfortable. Rooms are generally double sharing and come with a bed, mattress, study table, chair, cupboard and basic lighting with common washrooms on each floor. The hostel has Wi-Fi, water coolers, washing area and common rooms for students to relax. The mess food is average. The hostel regsitration process is straightfoward. It is affordable compared to private PGs, and most students prefer staying on campus because it as safer and more convenient. Overall, the hostel is decent, safe and good for academic focussed student life.
Admission
I chose MNLUA because it offered a better balance of fees, academics, campus life adn hostel facilities compared to other NLUs and other law colleges. I applied to the college through CLAT, i had also applied to NLUs like MNLU Nagpur, TNNLU, DNLU and NLUJAA, but i didn't join them later as they had their own drawbacks. MNLUA admission process was simple as CLAT score, merit list, counselling and document verification. The cut-off was competitive but achievable and the overall process was smooth and transparent.
Faculty
The faculty to students ratio is 1:60 which is quite decent. The faculty to student relationship is good and the faculties are approachable. The name of Faculties I like are Prof. Abdul Hakeem, Prof. Tejal Vakil and Prof. Kondaih. These faculty shows their knowledge in their daily talks, while the others are no less, but these I like in terms of overall nature. The names of faculties I don't like are not to be mentioned, but the reason for not liking them is generally the prejudice they carry and favourism, many comes from not well academic background which makes our college life suffer. There are total 2 exam of the six subjects in every 45 days, the semester is of 6 month where only 4 month is college and the rest 2 is internship break.
Interview Experience
For admission, generally no Group discussion, interview or written test at the college level because admission to NLUs happen strictly through CLAT, which is the only selection criterion. The process includes registering for CLAT, appearinf for the exam, receiving your rank and then participating in the centralised counselling where seats are allotted based on merit, preference and category. Since there were no GD/PI rounds, my preparationn was fully focused on CLAT itself-practising mock tests, improving speed and accuracy, revising current affairds and strengthening reading comprehension, logical reasoning and legal aptitude. After securing the required rank, the admission process at the university was mainly document verification and fee payment, with no additional tests or interviews.
Night Life
Nightlife around the college is calm and fairly low-key, as the campus follows strict timings. The gym, library and public area close by around 8-9pm, and the cafeteria usually shuts by 8pm usually. Hostel entry timings are for 10pm, so most students stay inside the campus at night. Inside the hostel, students unwind by chatting in the common areas, playing indoor games, watching movies together or going for a walk on campus. For hangouts, popular on-campus spots include the student canteen, lawns, sports ground and hostel courtyads. Outside the campus, students usually visit nearby cafes, small eateries and chair spots during the evening-only till it's safe and before the hostel deadline. The locality is generally safe, but as it is located much outer side from the city, so it becomes quiet at night, so students avoid staying out late. Overall, nightlife is late-evening walks, group study sessions, and spending time with friends-play a big role in making campus life comfortable.
