Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum maintains a good balance between theoretical and practical knowledge. According to the college, the curriculum is designed to help the students build strong real world application skills. However, some non coding subjects (or subjects not useful in coding journey ) are also included in the syllabus, which may not seem directly relevant to technical growth. I personally think that to truly stand out in the real world, one needs to put in additional efforts beyond the college curriculum. The exams are one hour long, and there is usually no gap between sessional exams, which can make the schedule quite hectic. Practical exams are conducted only during the semester exams. Overall the exam difficulty level is moderate.

Placement Experience

4

Students from 6th to 8th semester are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters companies are Accenture, Capgemini, Z-scaler, Palo Alto etc offered 1500+ offers last year( according to the seniors). For the 2023-24 batch, the highest placement offered was ?51 LPA by microsoft and the average package was ?6 LPA. There is no exact information about the percentage of students getting placed, but yes, many students were placed with decent packages. My plan after getting the degree is to get good job profile in a reputated company.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fees of the four year program is approximately ?6,46,200. In the first year, the payable amount is ?1,79,100 which is slightly higher because it includes several one-time charges such as registration, security deposit and student welfare fees. From the second year onwards, the annual fees is ?1,55,700 and remains same for the third and fourth year as well, showing that there is no yearly increase in the fees structure. The college maintains a clear and consistent fee policy, with most one-time payment. There is no any unexpected hikes in later years. Student with tuition fees wavier seats(alloted through UPTAC counselling), don't have to pay the tuition fees, which gave them the relaxation of about ?1,03,100. UP scholarship is available for students which provide ?50,000-60,000 to general/OBC students and upto ?1,00,000 for ST/SC students.

Campus Life

3

NIET organizes several large scale events such as "Jugnu" and "Jagmag". However, for first year students, there are relatively fewer events and participation opportunities. Books are easily available from library at free of cost for all students. The institute offers a variety of sports clubs, cultural groups and social clubs that student can join to enhance their overall developement. Most of these clubs are located at a different campus, and first year students are required to visit there for auditions and activities.

Admission

I have applied for many other goverment and private colleges like Lucknow University, BIET Jhansi, Galgoitas University, GL Bajaj, AKGEC Ghaziabad. Based on my rank, I was also eligible for other colleges like Galgoitas University and GL Bajaj, but NIET was the one which was only alloted to me. Compared to these college, the college life here is relatively strict, with fewer fests and events and an infrastructure that could definitely be better. Although NIET comes in top colleges of Greater Noida with Galgoitas and GL Bajaj. The admission process through counselling was smooth; I visited the college on the given date, submitted and verified the required documents, completed the registration and paid the fess without any difficulty. Admission through UPTAC counselling is based on JEE mains rank, although direct admission is also available. The expected JEE Mains cutoff through counselling generally ranges upto 3,00,000 to 6,00,000.

Faculty

4

The faculty members are quite friendly and approachable, although a few professors can be a bit strict. Personally, i find my all teachers to be very good and supportive, although few students from some other branches feels that a few of their teachers are a bit rude. In the first year, students have one semester exam and three sessional exams, out of which the best two are considered for evaluation. The difficulty level of exams is moderate, and if you pay proper attention in classes, it's quite possible to score much well without much difficulty. The college provides a good balance in theoretical and practical knowledge. The teacher to student ratio is around 1 to 30-35. Overall, the college maintains a very strict approach towards academics and discipline.

Night Life

3

The first year campus has relatively has fewer good hangout spots nearby, but the main campus area offers several cafes and popular where students can relax and socialize. The college provides a well equipped gym facility for students. Class are timings are from 9:40 AM to 4:30 PM, and the hostel students are not allowed to go outside the campus after 7:00 PM, which is quite inconvenient and disappointing for hostel students who wish to explore or relax after classes.

Students become eligible for placement from the 6th semester, and a mix of IT, consulting and service based companies visit with multiple entry levels offers. The students also get to apply to a degree that will be available for them in a specific area placed. My plan after the degree is to focus on implementing my skills and aim for better opportunities outside campus.
