What Students Say
Likes
- One of the best aspects of my college experience was the approachability and supportiveness of the faculty. Most of my professors were not only knowledgable in their respective subjects but also genuinly inter4sted in helpingh students grow.
- They were available for doubts, offered mentorships for projects and ofteen encouraged us to participate in seminars, workshops, and internships.
- Their guidance helped me develop a deeper understanding of ciore subjects and build confidence in applying theoretical knowledge in practicval settings.
Dislikes
- One of the major concerns I had during my time at college was the high fee structure, especially under the management quota.
- At 4,00,000 lakhs per year, the overall financial burden was quite significant, and unfortunately, there ere no internal scholarship schemes or financial aid options
- For students coming from middle class or self financed backgrounds, this can be very challenging
Course Curriculum Overview
I would rate the course curriculum as moderrately relevant and fairly comprehensive, especially for students pursuing a degree in biotechnology. One of the main reasons i chose this course was its balanced mix of core theoretical subjects
Placement Experience
In my college, on campus placement opportunitiesd for core biotechnology and life science fields were quite limited, While there were placement drives conducted during the final year, the majority of companies that visited were from IT, customer support, and non-core sectors, which weren't directly relevant to the field of biotechnology.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am enrolled under the management quota and the yearly fee for my course is aroung 4,00,000. This amount remains consistent across all four years of the program, with no significant increase during the course duration. The Rs: 4,00,000 yearly fee includes: 1. Tuition fees 2. Lab and development fees 3. Excluding admission and registration charges(first year only) 4. Also excluding other compulsory charges such as exam fees, library fees etc... There is also a one time caution deposit included in the first year payment, which is refundable upon course completion, subject to clearance of dues. I have not availed any scholarships or financial aid, and i have been self-financing my education throughout the duration of the program.
Campus Life
My overall experience with campus life was a mix of academic focus and moderate social engagement. While the environment was generally peaceful and disciplined, there were limited avenues for large - scale student interaction or cultural exposure when compared to bigger universities
Hostel Facilities
I stayed in the college hostel and overall the facilities were basic but manageable, The rooms were shared and came with essential furniture such as cot, study table, chair, ceiling fan and cupboard for each student. The rooms were fairly clean and received routine mainatainance, though more attention could have been given to bathrooma hygiene and ventillation.
Admission
During my application phase, i applied to a few well known institutions offering biotechnology or life science programs. I received confirmed admissions from VIT and SRM, but i eventually chose my current college due to so few key factors.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio in my college was fairly balanced, with most departments having and adequate number of teaching staff to handle lectyures, labs, and student support. On average, for every 20-25 students, there was at least one subject faculty, especially in core subjects like biotechnology and chemistry
Night Life
To be honest, there wass no real nighlife in or around my college campus, as the environment was quite strict and discipline focused. The campus had fixed entry and exit timings, especially for hostel students- typically with in time aroung 6:30-7:00 PM. After that, movement was highly restricted.
