Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculam for B.Tech Biotechnology at karunya is relevent and covers important areas like molecular biology, genetics, microbiology and genetic engineering which is influenced my decision to choose this course. It provides a good balance of theory and practical exposure with subjects which have theory blended with the experiments taught in the lab. The courses arewell upto the par and the facultes teaching the subjects are really helpful and understandable of the students. However, the curriculam can be improvised by including more advanced indutry oriented topics along with better integration of the recent technologies. teaching methods could be more research focused and interactive. exams are conducted regularly through internals and semester exams. Also facuties conduct regular assignments and class tests to improve the performance of the students in the internal assesments and the final semestrer exams. Attendance of more than 70 percent is required to attend any of the above mentioned exams.

Internships Opportunities

5

karunya has tie ups with many universities and provide IAESTE internships across the globe with many other partner institutions where we can spend upto a year on internships or semester abroad programs. the stipend offered varies from place to place but the companies provide upto 50k a month for the better oppurtunities in the company. The students are also exposed to the funded projectes by the ICMR, DBT, CSIR projects which help us to gain very real hands on experience in our UG environments, which is really a great advantage.

Placement Experience

5

From the sixth semester the student are eligible for placements and prominent companies such as bicon, lifecell, zoho, Thermofisher, lmt mindtree, jubilant food works, siemens, bioartha and around 2030 offers has been made os of april 2026 for my batch. the percentage of students getting placed is over 95 percent as the rest of the students have opted for higher studies like me. i plan on doing my masters abroad.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure for B.Tech biotechnology at Karunya Institute of technology and sciences is moderate compared to any other universities. Fo my Batch, the tuition fees is around 80k per semester which includes all academic related fees. In addition to tuition, the hostel fees and mess fees are separate. the hostel fees come upto 14.5k per semester and the mess fees upto 33k per semester. in total, per semester the fee add upto 1.25L. For the complete course duration you would pay around 12L/4 years. Regarding scholarships, i have a merit scholarship of 20k per semester based on my academic performance. The institution also provides other scholarships such as merit-cum-need scholarships and category based financial support. Fee structure may vary for students admitted through different categories.

Campus Life

5

The annual techno festival called mindkraft is conducted typically on the first four months of the years and is the biggest techno-managemant fest which has countless number of participants registering for the event. The libray is a four storyed a/c building with over 1L+ books with all kinds of reference books jounals and countless research papers and books available to use.The classrooms are neatly arranged and maintained for the better study environments. There is a lot of studet run groups like INVICTUS for biotechnology for which i am the event manager for and there are countless small scaled student conducted events which happen very frequently in our campus. The sports are very well conducted and we have many athletes and medals obtained from many matches.

Hostel Facilities

5

In my room we have 2 bunk beds with 4 tables for stdy and 4 chairs with 4 full length cubboards and 4 full length shelves to place our stuff and the hostel is neatly maintained by the maintanence staff and the room is spacious and well maintained. the mess and food quality are top notch as the food given here is of the best uality and the best quantity. the registration process for the hostel and the accomadation will be done on the day of admission in one seamless process. I am staying in hostel so i didn't have to rent a room.

Admission

i did not apply to any other colleges because genetic engineering was my dream and karunya was the only college providing such course for affordable and regular fee type. I chose this college over any other college because the research hub in my college is so vast and the collaborations with all the high research heads in India had me hooked up fo this course. I did not recieve rejection from any other college as karunya was my one and only option. The admission process was so neat and simple as they have a admission faculties for the specific specilization you are applying to and the process is too simple and easy. eligibility is 12th grade pass out batch and karunya has entrance exams for btech/bsc admissions called the KEE and for management courses there is KMAT where you write and exam and avail scholarships from the scores you obtained. There is no cutoffs requirement for the admission as the process is simple and is guided by the admission staff.

Faculty

5

The faculties are super approachable and really helpful in any matter you bring to them. there are faculties for each and every subject with their specilization in the respective fields. there are visiting professors from abroad who visits frequently. The faculties here are truly the best as they know what they are talking about. There are no faculties that i personally do not like because i believe everyone is different in their approach and blaming them or not liking them is not appreciatable. The exams are super cool as the first internals is computer based mcq type questions for 40 marks and the second internals is written exam with 4 one marks and 4 2 marks and 4 seven marks for 4 modules for a total of 40 marks. the third internal is project based learning where you develop a product or a research in the course of a month or opt to skill based learning where you develop a skill over the month and provide proof for the 40 marks. the semester exams are the usual 100 marks paper for all subject.

Interview Experience

5

No there is no interview process for the admissions in karunya. the only thing you have to do is write the entrance exam and pass in it. if you get good marks you may get scholarships based on your score in the examination

Night Life

5

We have a lot of stuff to do after the college hours as we have our canteen and food stalls and snack stalls around the campus where we can eat and catch up with friends. There are many gyms around in the hostel and the public area closes after 10 in the night. The campus in timing is morning 8:30 and we can reach the hostel at maximum 11 in the night max from campus after the research works. The famous hangout places consists of Nescafe, Cafe coffee day and dominos along with our university canteen where the ambience is too good to eat and hangout. The entire campus is safe to roam. there are many security gaurds on duty everytime and its super safe inside campus.

The placement and the package in this current year is less when compared to previous years. This is due to the more admissions in computer science field and more employees are there.the highest package is 12L/yr . 18% of students will get placed. My plan is to start private construction agency.
