- The college is comparatively new and hence the alumni base is not as strong.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is decent. The subjects are similar to what is taught at any NLU in the country. The curriculum is designed every year, which provides for a lot of scope for improvement and feedback. The faculty does take feedback from the students on year-end, which is anonymous, and hence the students get the freedom to express themselves. The classes are very interactive as most of the teachers prefer it that way.
Internships Opportunities
The internship cell is slowly becoming more active. You will receive an official email from the committee for internships. Additionally, CNLU is not a tier 3 college. The university was established in 2006 and has been here for a short span of time as opposed to other universities. The administration at CNLU was not apt for a long time, which is not the case now. The university is the face of change.
Fees and Financial Aid
Chanakya National Law University is currently a good place to pursue a law degree from. The quality of teachers and facilities available is increasing with the new administration in place. The overall fee structure is increasing every year, however, it is still less when compared to other NLUs in the country. The infrastructure available and the location of the campus amidst the city make it easier to pursue the degree. For my year, the overall fees was 207450, with the incoming batches, the fees will increase. This includes the hostel fees, mess fees, tuition fees, cultural fees, development charge, infrastructure development charge, and student welfare fund. For students not opting for hostels, the fees would be comparatively less. There are a host of scholarships available. Through the portal of National Scholarship Portal, one can apply for different scholarships. There are other state-based scholarships as well. Seniors are very encouraging and helpful in guiding juniors when it comes to scholarships. Most of the scholarships are based on the annual family income of the student.
Campus Life
Overall experience is nice. The campus is green and it looks great when it rains in Patna. There is always one thing or the other to look forward to. The campus is very lively. The reading section of the library is open till 2 AM. You can see people walking around the campus uptill then.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are clean. The warden is very helpful. The mess food is decent. You can complain to the mess committee anytime something goes wrong. There is a batch representative from every year to whom one can lodge complaints. Strict action is taken in case any problem arises. You can get a two-seater room for 18k. If you want to install an AC or a cooler, the electricity charges would increase. Single room (no-sharing) is available after 3rd year and the cost for it is different.
Admission
I also got accepted at NUSRL, Ranchi but did not opt for it as most of the things about it are similar to CNLU. However, one x-factor which probed me to join my current college was the appointment of Faizan Sir as the VC of our college.
Faculty
The faculty has improved a lot over the past 2 years. There is rapid induction of new faculty and the number of visiting faculties has also increased. The university also runs free classes for judiciary aspirants who belong to SC/ST communities.
Night Life
Around the college, there isn't much of a nightlife. However, in CNLU, the hostels are open till 2.30 AM so the students can roam around the campus till then. there is no in or out time or counting of students by the hostel administration so the students are free to stay off the campus as well. Gym is available is both the girls and boys hostel.
