A Comprehensive Review of Tinsukia College

The most important aspect that influenced me to choose this course is to get a good push towards CMA course as the subjects are quite similar in later stage of the course, which will help me in my future endeavours towards my CMA course. The in-sem exam becomes quite average level as the faculty tries to finish the syllabus before in-sem exams which is of only 20 marks. The end-sem exam becomes quite difficult as the exam is conducted for 60 marks within two hours which is not easy

Internships are offered by Tata Motors, JSW, Jindal Panthers, TCS, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance, etc. The internship in the 5th semester is essential as it's performance are seen as a minor subject in the course, and marks are given accordingly.

The students get placement in internships in 3rd and 5th semester. The companies which visits for recruitment are TCS, Jindal Panther, Tata Motors, JSW, ICICI BANK, BAJAJ finance, etc. Packages are offered for internships varies from 1500 Rs. to 10000 Rs. My plan after Graduation is to pursue CMA India.

Admission fees 8000 in Odd Semesters, and 750 in Even Semester. Exam Registration and Form Fill up Fees Includes 1700 in Odd Semesters, and 1300 in Even Semester, and can vary of the students have backlogs. In case of SC/ST/OBC reservation the fees structure reduces more in the time of admission. Only 650 Rs. is taken from them if there's no backlog. But they can get admission with less percentage.

The annual events that are conducted are Freshers, Farewell, Teachers Day, Saraswati Puja, etc. A large range of books are available in the library. Also daily journals are available. For science stream classes, conference rooms; Wifi, projectors , LED screens are available with great infrastructure in Auditorium. Library Conference Hall, and BCA , and BBA classrooms. Various teams are available for different sports, NCC, NSS, etc. The Union members are quite helpful.

I applied for Darrang College (under Gauhati University), Tezpur too. As I wanted to go there, but the limited availability of PG and distance from my hometown let me to choose Tinsukia College (under Dibrugarh University). I didn't get rejected in any college. I got confirmed admission chances from both Tinsukia College and Darrang College. First of all the students need to register and apply for the college in Govt. of Assam's SAMARTH admission portal. After that the merit list is prepared and the students are required to personally visit the college to take final admission. Cutoffs depend upon the number of students applied each year and their percentages in HS.

The faculty-to-student ratio in the Department of Commerce is 1:150. Though it may vary from department to department. For example in the Department of Bengali the faculty to student ratio is 3:40. The faculty is approachable and helpful. The best faculties I've come accross my 1st Year of study here are Dr.Lovin Kro, Dr. Ram Naresh Das, Dr. Shelly Dutta, Dr. Rijumani Kalita, Dr. Saradindu Bordoloi, Dr. S.S. Boro, Dr. Yukta Hazarika. There are two exams in each semester, the "in-sem exam" and "end-sem exam". The Course Curriculum is 20(assignment/presentation/group discussion) + 20(in sem) + 60(end sem) in each subject

The topics of group discussion is relative to the course syllabus. Interview questions are based on the pattern of presentation made. The preparation for these group discussions, interviews, and presentation is of average.

The library and gym is closed by 5 PM. The college campus is closed by 5 PM. The hostel campus timelines are quite different from regular students. I'm a daily scholar so I don't know much about the college hostel timings. The area is safe at night as well. The places one can hang out outside the college are the nearby tea gardens, parks, etc.
