Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum is a bit old. Even though it covers all most every area of the subject. The teachings are more application based. When it comes to improvement they should focus more on recent advancements in the field

Internships Opportunities

4

Internships are based on the departments. For psychology department we will have internships at the trivandrum mental health hospital where the students are able to take case studies and assist the psychiatrist. There are many other companies which provide internships for the students from this college

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fee was around 1200 for general category. The reservation category has less and some category does not have to pay.The caution deposit is 360 rupees. We have to pay exam fees which will be around 600 per semester. And during the admission process you'll have to give a donation to the pta committee. Otherwise there is no compulsory fees. There are several scholarships for students like egrants, nsp and many national scholarships

Campus Life

5

There a very of fests and programs conducted in the college. The annual day will be around march. The psychology department conduct mental health weak which will be around October. The college union will conduct the union program generally after the election. There will be a magazine release. And every department will have a wide range of programs of their own. Apart from that onam, christmas, freshers and farewell is conducted both department wise and the whole college

Admission

I applied to university college Thiruvananthapuram, S N college Chempazhunthi, christian college kattakada etc. But my first option was this college since it is a very famous college. I first got admission to the zoology department of this college and I changed the course to psychology. The admission process is based on the 12th marks. We have to apply through online and purely on the basis of marks we will be alloted to different course which we applied. The eligibility is around 75 percent for 12. The cutoff is around 1050 for general category

Faculty

5

Every department has minimum 5-6 faculties. They are so much helpful and maintain a friendly approach to the students. From my department Dr. Sonia George is my favorite. She is more like a motherly character for me. When it comes to exams there will be 6 exams semester wise. Students usually clear all the exams. And the curriculum is not that much up-to-date

Night Life

3

The college has an open and close gym. It has a canteen where you can hangout with your friends and many other spots all around the campus. The library is a 5- storeyed building with thousands of books. It usually closes at 5. The college does not has a hostel of it's own. The hostel is provided by the university on a merit basis which is depending on the distance. The trivandrum zoo, museum, padmanabha temple are just 10 minutes away from the college. The college does not has a night life. The gate will be closed by 6 or 7 if there is no official programs

Course Curriculum Overview:

My favourite subject is biology. I have applied for zoology course but unfortunately there is no seats available at that time, so I chose Botany which is also my favourite. The curriculum is perfect and prepares for real world. More practical sessions are needed. Every 6 months there will be semester exam. Which is not that much tough.

Remarks:

College lacks infrastructure and ample space for the ease of college excitement but the college offers a great field of laboratories and on-site experience in the field the faculty and lectures sometimes involve too much into their personal life than minding their own business.
