What Students Say
Likes
- The overall affordibility of pursuing a course in the college which makes possible for students coming from low income households to pursue technical education
- The environment and climate of the campus. If you like experiencing all the climates to the fullest you will like the campus and climate around it.
- subjects included in the curriculum. The subjects are relevent to the course and are necessary to understand what concepts and topics are actually implemented in the practical world
Dislikes
- Teaching methedology. teaching faculty mostly sticks to the syllabus and textbook and if you are naturally curious about the subject then it is your responsibility to research more about it
- postponing of previously scheduled exam dates. Many a times exams are postponed which affects the whole calender year of the next semester
- Delayed results. Due to the above mentioned point the results are greatly delayed sometimes even declaring it after 1-2 months of commencing the next semester
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course out of sheer curiosity and intrest in the field of Artificial Intelligence . The course offered by the college encapsulates all the major subtopics included in the field. Theoretically the curriculum offers great knowledge about various topics from your course however you yourself have to figure out how do you build your practical skills which you can use in the real world. teaching methods can be improvised by implementing a more practical learning based approach rather than relying on the theoretical part of the subject. there are 2exams per semester, one small exam called as mid semester exams and the other one is the major exam called as final semester exam. difficulty of exam is usually easy to moderate and one can easily pass the exam even if he/she does not study regularly.
Fees and Financial Aid
For a general category of student the fee per year (2 semesters) will be around 25,000 rs including all the lab fees and tution fees etc, which means for a general category student pursuing btech from the college will complete the whole course in about rs 1 lakh. However there are good arrangements and facilities for scholorships for students from varoius different castes . people from EWS have fees per year less than 7500 rs , while people from backward classes like SC, ST and VJNT can complete the whole course in much under 5000rs. The college also regulary gives information about various state scholorship programmes and how to apply for them.
Campus Life
The extra curricular side of the college is not yet fully deveoped, i would like to say that it is still in its infant stage. however efforts to start new events, programmes and clubs are constant and as the student participation will increase in this area new avenues for the college will open up thus giving a boost to the extra curricular activities of the college. The college has a gymkhana commitee consisting of multiple secratries which are responsible for various activities and events held in the college. The sports facilities are limited however for people who like cricket can be rest assured since it is the primary sport which is being played during the annual sports event. indoor games competitions are also held for chess and carrom. Recently some efforts have been put forword by the students for creation of various clubs which will be run by the college students itself .
Admission
I chose this college mainly due to 3 reasons: 1. Affordibility (less fees) 2. Branch of my liking (Artificial intelligence and Data Science) 3. The 'Government' Tag to the college. these 3 reasons were enough for me to take admission in the college, i did get other colleges which were closer to my vicinity awith perhaps a more elaborate set of facilities but none of those fit in the criteria of this college i.e fulfill all the 3 reasons which i mentioned above ,. hence if you are someone who will choose his/her college primarily based on these 3 factors then you are welcome to join the college. This is an engineering college which offers 5 courses apart from AI it offers electrical, civil, mechanical and food tech. The admission is mosty based on the mht-cet examaination which is the exam through which engineering colleges in maharashtra admit students into their various courses.
Faculty
The faculty/ teaching staffs are mostly visiting facilities . however each of them is well qualified and has a good base of knowledge of the subjects they are teaching. sometimes due to unavailability of teaching staff for a particular subject , the already existing faculty themselves teach that subject too, hence one teacher can teach different subjecst to all four years. The teaching faculty however is polite and co-operative when it comes to solving doubts and introducing the subject to the students. Semester exams are generally easy and one can easily pass the exam even by studying 3-4 days prior to the exam. for the most part the faculty to the student ratio is 1:120
Night Life
The night life of the college is not very happening, unless you have your own group of friends to hangout with. there are many hangout spots near our college one of them being Thibaw Palace , which once was a palace built for the burmese king in custody of the british however now it has been turned into a meuseum and college students use it as an hangout spot. Students after a long day of clasees either go to nearby spots to talk with their friends or to a nearby cafe to grab a quick snack. There is a stadium near our college and hence many students go there for doing some exercises or just a casual walk . The new college building has a good library space and hence many students nowadays spend their free time between lectures there .
